The Hollow Man

To some degree, this was inspired by T.S.Eliot’s “The Hollow Men.” The decay, the debauchery. Men stuffed with nothing but hay. So it’s inspired by anyone who is, at some fundamental level, empty. Narcissists and sociopaths immediately come to mind. The piece should be simultaneously attractive and repulsive: the flies, the underwear, his face, the flower, the glitter, the colors, the children’s blocks. 14” x 10” x 4.5,” Carved basswood, paint, aluminum, antique toy blocks, and pen. 2019.
