I am a mostly self-taught artist from Bulgaria. Few years ago, I decided to document my dreams and share them with the world via paintings. I ended up creating vivid, expressionistic canvases, using my fingers instead of a brush.
I have developed different techniques of memorizing my dreams and carrying them over into the waking world. I dream in images and colors rather than story. Writing down the dream immediately after waking up doesn’t work for me, as the image – usually surreal or abstract – is hard to describe in words. Instead, I try to sketch it while still in bed. I keep a sketchbook, pencils and even watercolor paints on my bedside table.
I also portray different emotions in more realistic paintings, which still bear a touch of surrealism in the colors and composition. In 2009, I released a series of monumental black&white extreme close-ups of faces, showing a range of emotions: anger, calmness, sadness, horror, melancholy, joy.
