“Super Cow”: I Created A Stop-Motion Animation About A Dairy Cow Escaping From Slaughter
A condemned cow’s last chance at freedom. Told in gripping stop-motion animation, featuring music by Moby, “Super Cow” is the story of a dairy cow named Daisy and her daring escape from slaughter.
Stop-motion is the tedious but beautiful art of capturing still images, one frame at a time, and putting them together to give the illusion that they’re moving. This was an incredibly rewarding and difficult journey to go from script to screen. We averaged about 5 seconds per day during the shooting of this two and a half minute film. Everything you see in the film, from the sets to the cow to the human characters, the grass, the world all had to be built and created physically. Not in a computer, but hand made, painted, constructed, lit, animated. This was an incredibly ambitious task but so exciting to see it come together.
I wrote, directed, and edited “Super Cow” to raise awareness and encourage compassion toward all living beings. It was produced by the non-profit organization Last Chance for Animals (LCA). Every cow has a story. All animals want to live free.

:(. When I worked with cows during vet tech training I was taken at how docile and sweet-natured they were. They became my favorite barn animals to deal with.

Curious if you actually obtained the rights to use Moby’s song or not.

Yes, we collaborated with Moby on the film to use his music. He's a big animal rights supporter.
