This Person Noticed That No One Wears Armor In Zombie Movies And Starts A Hilarious Discussion
Thinking outside the box is a quality well appreciated nowadays and while it may seem to be harder and harder every day to come up with something worthwhile, some people constantly have their heads spinning around something unheard of. Or maybe these “eureka” moments are all shower thoughts for all that we know. All jokes aside, these two people on Tumblr came up with a simple yet genius idea of how to survive a zombie apocalypse. And while it may not be a common topic, they really are onto something!
This person started wondering why nobody ever use suits of armor in any zombie stories
And while he surely was onto something, someone found a way to improve his idea
And thus started a marvelous discussion on how to best survive the zombie apocalypse

Share on FacebookPlease don't wear a suit of armour in the zombie apocalypse, you're going to get infected and you'll be difficult for us survivors to kill. When the apocalypse comes, I'll be inside one of those giant inflatable balls, I'll be bouncing over the undead. Hahaha...
You will... ZORB your way through the apocalypse? Sounds fun!
Load More Replies...Platemail isn't actually super heavy. A toned adult can wear a full suit without being slowed down, or even having their agility hampered. They tested this, you can do some surprising athletics in a full suit of armor. I also have a hard time believing a horde of rotting bodies could pull armor apart if steel weapons can't, all while being hacked to bits with a sword. Or better yet, the ultimate zombie killing implement, the Chainsaw - let that image sit in your head for a while. Knight with a Chainsaw, chopping up zombies. Rip and Tear, kids. But lo, as we all know and as the last comment pointed out, the real threat in zombies is the humans and that puts a spanner in the works.
I own some plate mail parts myself. Still, most of my armor is made of leather, but mostly for cost reasons. A full plate mail is really expensive cause it is always handmade and has to been adapted. But you are right, you can move pretty good when the weight is distributed evenly across your body. A backpack with the same weight but only on your back is harder to carry.
Load More Replies...Get a beach house. When the zombie come, get in the ocean. They will follow you and, well...just ewwww.
Full plate is not needed the shark suit idea is the right direction. Shark suit with a helmet with full face shield should keep protected from the zombies add bullet resistant body armor to protect from the a******s. finish out suit with a undergarment that is exercise type and use a camelback water system.
I'm about ready to give up on The Walking Dead. They are constantly doing face palm dumb sh#t all the time. Not sure how we're meant to believe they've survived for as long as they have. Also, all you really need to be able to do is walk at a slightly fast pace and you'll stay well ahead of the hordes. A bit of stamina training, a freaking long handled sharp thing (not a small knife you idiots), comfortable joggers (Docs are probably a bit too hard to run in)and some sensible sun-safe clothing and you'll be whistling your way to a bright future.
There wouldn't be any shows/movies if every character behaved logically and/or sensibly.
Load More Replies...Solution... wait a month or two and that's it it's all over as they have rotted away, been eaten by wildlife/insects and so on
I read somewhere that, if a human were to become a zombie, there would be no mental limitations holding us back. So like when a mother can lift a car off of her child in an emergency. Our bodies don't usually let us use our full potential as we can damage ourselves severely, so if those limitations did not exist (i.e. we are zombies) we could probably easily tear through a suit of armour. Cons of that would be that the zombie's muscles etc. would probably snap and it would be unable to move/bite or do much damage at all. So in the grand scheme of things, there would probably be fewer victims than expected as zombie bodies would break themselves / possibly decompose in hot weather.
Lucky333 said it, the greatest threat is other people. It's sad we can't just all get along.
My husband would be that idiot. If I say run he’ll have so many questions first. I will have to ditch him.

there's a company that makes high impact suits out of nonnewtonian fluids. You get one of those bad boys, put on a kevlar motorcycle suit, add a bulletproof vest, and you're litterally the juggernaut of the zombie apocalypse.
My thing is... these self driving cars that stop for pedestrians... I can see Rick grabbing one by mistake and the darn thing stopping at each and every zombie.
Or start yourself on fire. It will just burn away any zombies that touch you
If you get zombiefied while wearing a suit of armor, you become a level boss.
I will build a moat and fill it with a really powerful acid and have a retractable draw bridge. I would then retract the draw bridge and put on a burger suit and dance around protectively. Well, you can see where this is going
Everyone knows the biggest threat in the zombie apocalypse isn't the zombies.. It's the other humans. I don't think lugging around in extremely heavy armor is going help you escape a gun totting scavenger. Plus a bike isn't going to get you over tough terrain. Especially if you are in Armor. I am going to live in a light house / eat sea gulls.

Load More Replies...according to 28 Days Later movie, you dont need a bite to become a zombie. just a drop of blood into your eyes will do. so, holes in the helmet make it possible to get infected.
someone else brought up the point that if someone got infected while wearing the armor they'd be a really difficult zombie to kill
Load More Replies...according to certain people, animals would tear apart and decimate zombies before they could be a threat. bacteria would also destroy them.
The whole point of a zombie is that they can survive the normal decay process so bacteria wouldn't get them for a long time. Also without a circulatory system, most predators would be unable to kill them, since they usually kill by suffocation or blood loss. I mean bears would still rip zombies to shreds, but they are not fans of rotten meat.
Load More Replies...I have fought in the Society for Creative Anachronism for thirty years and own custom chain maille and plate armors. I routinely get hit with thick rattan weapons at full speed and full strength. No zombie in the world could "peel back" my armor. They simply aren't getting through with tooth or fingernails. They aren't going to bite through steel, hardened leather, and tempered aluminum. They aren't going to think to unbuckle straps or attempt to pull off armor. They aren't going to defend their heads. Behind my shield, in a doorway, limiting my attackers and keeping them from flanking me, will be like a game of Whack-A-Mole.
In The Walking Dead, the King Ezekiel and his people had some armor on and shields and swords.
People don't wear suits of armors, because most of the zombie apocalypse movies/shows are from the USA, and simply there aren't any readily available.
It´s not like in Europe we have armor shop on every corner :D
Load More Replies...Me and my gf actually have had many discussions about this topic: the apocalypse would most likely be caused be an autoimmune desease. Depending on if and how it is spread, you coild theoritically isolate those who are contimanated, and if youe keep them alive long enoug, save them. Even if it does cause potentially cause certain disorders or some s**t. All forms of food can be saved, do to protection and that seedbank place in that one place. Not to mention, you only need to wait in a safe place before the zombies decompose and are no longer dangerous, and there is no reason why an immediate power outtage would follow an outbreak if it was *just* zombies.
Why don't they wear a suit of armor? For the same reasons soldiers no longer wear it: Because it's heavy & difficult to move in! Not to mention really uncomfortable. There are better, lighter, and flexible ways to protect your self. BTW - a full suit of armor weighs about 110lbs (50kg). A study showed that people wearing the armor used about twice as much energy just to walk around: https://www.livescience.com/15128-armor-drained-medieval-knight-energy.html
One thing everyone fails to consider about zombies is hysterical strength. Our muscles are way way stronger than they seem, but our brain usually stops us from using our full strength so we don't hurt ourselves. If my brain let me clench my jaw as hard as possible, I would shatter all of my teeth. A zombie's brain isn't going to have that fail-safe. It's going to go whole-hog ripping that armor to pieces. I mean, it might break its own bones in the process, but that will just give the other zombies a chance to get you.
What? And ruin the sad thinking (if that's what it's called) that got them to wander around with zombies in the fist place?
Problem is the amount of undead- already slow in your armor, soon several douzrns will just push you down with their weight.Maybe you will not be bitten, you just starve
Depends on the kind of zombie. You can outrun the old-school 'shuffler' zombies, even in full plate armor. If it's the modern 'fast' zombie you are indeed screwed.
Load More Replies...I'm going to say it's because 1) we don't exactly have a bunch of armor experts lying around who can do the custom fitting necessary to make a full suit of armor easy to use and functional. Without that expertise, it's basically your neighbor, Dave, making a clunky, heavy tin can you can barely move in, or it has dangerous gaps for biting, out of car parts or sheet metal 2) you'd still be at risk for mobbing. You fall down in that and can't get up, and you'll wind up with an entire pile of zombies on top of you, while you get crushed or cut off from oxygen. I think bite proof kevlar would be the easier solution. They make chainsaw pants and kevlar sleeves and gloves.
When zombie horde thros you to the ground you cant get up anymore, ever wore a plate armory? xD those thing are heavy as hell
Every airport in the snow-belt has one of these. I presume no explanation is necessary? Snow-Blowe...e2e492.jpg
all this talk about armor being bulky is wrong. plate armor barely restricts moment and mail is even easier to move in. Unless you were wearing a full sute or tornamant armor than you would would be fine. perhaps you should stick with something a bit smaller for your hands so you can still shoot a gun.
Great concept... but it didn't work for these guys... riot-gear-...6a8989.png
Glen from the Walking Dead had riot gear... ...that he got off a walker. Not sure armor is as effective as we'd like :P
In zombie apocalypse books they ride bikes all the time . In books with fast zombies the bike riders obvi get eaten
Ya just need to stay inside for like a week. Most people with a weeks food could manage. Just get past the rigor an rot of the body decaying. They will eventually decompose, burst, rot, dehydrate, fall apart etc without food aka live people. If it's a true zombie rot plague. Just get from house to greased car w food. Go as far as u can if needed. Find a shelter. Libraries are good. Usually old stone ones. Town halls. Buildings with thick doors. I know, even churches. Hang out w food and radio. Wait for decay and clean up. Army can do that. Go back to normal.
"...pry armor open and get to the meaty center"...makes me think of that Tootsie Roll commercial

A suit of armor weighs about 100 pounds. That’ll slow you down, weigh you down, and impair your senses. The only thing really helpful in the zombie apocalypse is an AK47 and lots of ammo
The real reason is that every zombie film is basically the same. Zombies appear, normal people try to hide and some of them get bitten. Repeat, ad nauseum.
Yes but you have to put up with reduced mobility and vision. Also just cause you are in a tin can doesn't stop you from being completely mobbed by them and unable to move.
"irl an apocalypse wouldn't last 24 hours" ....... after the first 24 hrs maybe 2-300 humans would survive.
I really think it depends on the circumstances. How does the virus spread - is it air born or only contagious when someone is bitten? Etc., etc...
