Some people refuse to let others bring them down when they’re on vacation. Reddit user After_Consequence177‘s best friend is one of them.

In a personal post on r/traumatizeThemBack, the Redditor recalled a time when she came to visit and the two of them (together with a few other women) were riding the subway. Suddenly, a pervert whipped out his junk and started pleasuring himself in front of the passengers!

Little did the man know, he was about to get humiliated even before the next stop.

Luckily, this woman found a way to diffuse the disturbing situation

Our hero is unstoppable and unapologetic in other parts of life too

We managed to get in touch with the author of the post and the Redditor told us they’ve known the unshakable woman for over twenty years. “We’re childhood friends who met in elementary school and grew up in the same small hometown,” After_Consequence177 told Bored Panda.

“She’s fearless, direct, outgoing, funny, open, and has tons of attitude. One of the things I love most about her is that she’s a massively badass girl’s girl. If she ever sees a woman who needs help, support, or protection, my friend is the first person to jump in and provide it even if the woman is a perfect stranger to her.”

So not surprisingly, she’s one of the most inclusive people the Redditor has ever met. “Everywhere we go, she’s happy to strike up a conversation with anyone. Gender, age, ethnicity — it doesn’t matter to her. As long as the other party is receptive and respectful, she’s happy to become instant friends.”

After_Consequence177 believes it’s her own experiences that have shaped her this way. “She’s had to confront a lot of her own challenges, especially because she herself is a woman working in a very male-dominated industry, so she’s had a long history of having to stand in her own and defend herself against inappropriate situations that easily become awkward.”

“Plus, her naturally raunchy sense of humor makes her almost immune to these kinds of situations putting her off her game,” the Redditor added.

Such stories are becoming more common in the area

As nauseating as this story might be, reports of perverts masturbating in public in New York City have soared 51 percent, according to local police data.

Lax laws and a broken mental health system have been blamed for it, with 378 complaints lodged in the first six months of 2024, compared to 251 during the same period last year.

The cops issued 159 summonses to New York residents who whipped out their private bits until June 30, a 396 percent increase from the 32 tickets issued in 2023.

According to New York’s indecent exposure law, lewdness, which includes what the Subway Creep was doing, is punishable by up to 90 days in jail, a $500 fine, and probation.

Public lewdness in the first degree is a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Exposure is a violation, with a maximum sentence of 15 days in jail in addition to fines and community service.

However, police officers are of the view that even if the offenders are busted, they would be cut loose in no time.

“This is a desk appearance ticket and a non-bail eligible offense, so he will be out within two hours,” said Captain Joel Rosenthal, commanding officer of the First Precinct.

Let’s hope that the humiliation this Subway Creep had endured is more effective.

People were glad the creep got what he deserved

Sure great, all those stories about women who aren’t scared and/or make these men cower in shame (I’ve learned that too over the years), but we REALLY shouldn’t be in this position at all. Bear in mind that many women and girls don’t have a great comeback or do feel intimidated or threatened (and some of these AHs are aggressive as well as obnoxious). Men, be better and raise your sons well.

That's okay. Nobody is obliged to act like that. But we who can, the loud ones, the extroverts - whoever, whatever we are, if we can, we should speak up if we feel up to it. And those who can't will be always welcome to hide under our broad wings.

When my wife worked in women's self-defense training, they worked on women's need to overcome unwillingness to "make a scene" when they felt threatened or disrespected. They shared success stories, including a bus passenger who raised a "man's" arm high in the air, like he'd won a prizefight and sounded off: "Does this hand belong to anyone? Because I just found it on my a**!"

This was back in the 80's and my mother and I had just gotten out of a professional baseball game. We were walking back to our car when a guy in the classic long trench coat flashed a huge group of people, including us. I froze as this was the first erect penis I had ever seen. I think I must had been between 10-12 years old. My mother gave this snort and said, "Honey if that is all you have to show us you need to find another line of work." This man deflated in shame and exited stage left with a quickness with the rest of the crowd chuckling. My mother was a queen.

Many years ago, was travelling on the tube with a colleague after a late shift (we were nurses in uniform with our capes covering) and a guy tried this. My colleague - barely 5 foot of her - just started laughing and saying - call that a *****? Even my terrapin is bigger. He 'limped' off the train,

I have only met one, he did a classic "open coat" stunt and I burst out laughing at the ugly wiener that quickly got even tinier, the size of a Swedish "prinskorv". He tried to run and I yelled "Look everyone, he wants us to see the wiener, bring microscope! It was so much fun! Always wanted a rerun but not happened so far.

I was at a festival with a female friend when this fella dropped his trousers in front of her and starts thrusting in her direction. She didn’t blink and instead took out her glasses and said “Hmm, it looks a bit like a penis - but much smaller”. The guy ran away 🙂

I want to buy this woman a beer or a coffee! I have done this same thing. It works. When we, my husband and I, were in Times Square in the evening on a Friday the people were aggressive and wouldn’t stay to the left like normal people. So I acted like an aggressive Sasquatch and growled with my hands up. They got out of my way.Husband was crying laughing behind me. I have also pointed out gross/weird men on trains and golf courses. They don’t like being called out in public especially by a woman.

We only have buses where I live since our city is so spread out. Now, we have our share of freaks, that will get tossed off the bus in the middle of the road. If they don't leave, then it's evacuate the bus until the cops get there. But just remember I live in a State with open and concealed carry, we also have VERY loose gun laws. Yeah, that Granny you're flashing might have a Glock in her purse. Also, you don't see a lot of road rage, because that person might be strapped and pissed off does NOT make for a good combination.

Cool story, if real. The reason why many women (and even men) aren't confrontational in situations, like this? There's no direct nor even indirect threat. And, more importantly, what if this creep decided to get aggressive and violent? You're stuck on the train with him.

I would react like her bestie without even realising; as a girl I was raised, like millions of others, to keep quiet and not rock the boat and I've fought against that my whole adult life. I have no respect for societal norms and have little fear plus I'm northern British and we say it exactly how it is. You want to behave like a d******d? I'll show you exactly what a d******d you are
