I wonder if she’s an active member of a historical reenactment group like the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). The dress is lovely.

Marga told us that she is a 100% selfmade seamstress. "It is about delving into the world of costumes, trying different sewing patterns, and being very creative. My son asked for cosplay costumes for Comicon just by showing a picture of a costume. Since then, I have also been sewing things without using patterns, relying on trial and error. I always focus on deadstock fabrics and upcycling materials. Nothing is as rewarding as making, for instance, a hat or corset from ties or an old tablecloth."

Marga's costumes are not quick-sew or "an hour" dress projects, so it takes a considerable amount of time to create them, especially the Chanel-style jackets. "But as soon as I know what it takes to create it, I am very fast. I recently made seven Victorian, Gothic, and medieval ruff collars in just 4 days."

Marga enjoys every second of costume-making. "I am very proud if the photographers are creating art to make a beautiful picture with myself as a model or another model. In this time of fast fashion, everybody is wearing jogging pants and elastic fabrics. It is very nice and rewarding to create costumes that represent the past, the love for the fabric, the love for the sewing process, and the art of wearing it to an event, fair, or a photo shoot.

I do not wear my hats, costumes, and corsets in normal life. But I hope I can create some sort of ode to the past when people were proud of their clothes, cherished them, and sustainability was a lifestyle before it became a modern word."
