Doctors Are Uniting In Begging People To Stay At Home (15 Pics)
As the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases globally is now a staggering 218,824, doctors are left short-handed. Hospitals now face a battle with time, where equipment, supplies, and trained staff members are depleting daily.
Without the medical practitioners, the battle would be lost right away. So it’s heartbreaking to see them crying over ignorant people who find the task of staying home too big to handle. Thus, frontline workers unite in a global plea begging you to stay home so they can keep doing their job.
Think about it—while you’re all rolled up in a shaggy blanket, eating chocolate chip cookies, binge-watching your fave series, you’re saving the lives of others. To understand the vital importance of staying home, Bored Panda talked to Dr. Leana Wen, a professor at George Washington University from the “Stay Home: Save Lives” campaign.

Emergency physician Leana Wen told Bored Panda that “we are currently facing the biggest public health crisis of our lifetimes. But we are not powerless against the virus: there are things we can do.” The most vital one is pretty simple: “If you can, stay home!”
Leana Wen is a member of the campaign Stay Home: Save Lives, which unites concerned healthcare professionals raising awareness on the necessity to stay home and let frontline workers do their jobs. “#StayHome means you’re helping save lives.”

Social distancing is the only way to slow the spread of this disease, and that means we’re all made responsible. “If we don’t change our behavior now, the disease will spread faster and our healthcare system will be overwhelmed.” Leana Wen warns that, as a result, “that would cause a lot more harm and a lot more deaths.”

It’s totally normal if it’s hard to cope with cabin fever. Baltimore’s former Health Commissioner suggests using creative ways to enjoy each other. “There are lots of activities, like reading a book you’ve been putting off, to FaceTiming and catching up with friends online.”
Most importantly, find your own routine and stick to it. “Don’t just stay in your sweats! Try exercising at home—pushups, jumping jacks, and yoga, for example.”

My elderly mom is at very high risk. She's self-quarantining. My husband has lymphoma. We're doing our best. So, yes, take it seriously ---- but also don't panic. That's causing a lot of problems, too (hoarding, price gouging, extreme isolation/depression, etc.) Peace.
Load More Replies...This made me cry. I have emotional breakdown today. First since the breakdown. I cry on and off the whole day. I am so overwhelmed with it all. Everybody talks only about that. There are no other topics anymore. I live in Poland. We don't have many cases. Around 325. Confirmed. How many not tested? Who knows that. People are so terrifingly irresponsible. Every day I see large groups of people in the park I live next to. Today I read that people gather and make barbecues. Mostly teenagers since schools are closed. They take their life for granted. They say "it's just a flu". The don't understand... It's not about them. We don't want to have the same situation as in Italy. I have so much respect for the medical care workers all over the world. You are all real heroes! Thank you so much!!!
I totally hear you. It's ok to feel overwhelmed and scared and sad sometimes. You are not alone. A virtual hug from🇯🇵

That's disgusting - I'm genuinely appalled for you. Wish you all the very best in your cancer battle.
Load More Replies...Thank you health workers for all you who battle this horrible disease on the front lines. Your hard work and dedication will not be forgotten.
It's our job. While I agree with this motion, I also remind others it is our job. I knew what I signed up for the moment I pledged to the Hippocratic Oath.

Or are these numbnuts contrarians for the sake of being contrarians? If you follow any social media influencer that's happily posting pictures of themselves out and about, be a socially-responsible human being and unfollow them. Their narcissism is unbearable during the best of times... and during a pandemic, their narcissism isn't just irresponsible, it's life-threatening.
I'm glad someone has finally said it. I'm sooo sick of hearing people complain about their petty personal inconveniences when I have been working 16 hour days, 7 days a week, for 4 weeks solid now trying to keep this train wreck of a health care system chugging along so self absorbed morons don't end up on ventilators. Its not just front line nurses, its managers, hospital admin, safety and infection control staff too.
This was definitely moving but I must say, this is also our job. We took on this pledge the moment the Hippocratic Oath was recited. I agree, we are humans. I want to go home and see family, but we are healthcare professionals, too. Our jobs save lives. If we did not want that responsibility, we would not have chosen this career path.
No one is saying it isn't their job. There is nothing wrong with these professionals encouraging us to be responsible. Just because it's their job doesn't mean they should sit back and watch people be irresponsible and spread a virus around that is killing people. It also doesn't mean that we shouldn't thank them for what they do!

It's a very SIMPLE TASK for us to do. Those of us who are non medical practitioners, STAY AT HOME... For EVERYONE'S SAFETY.
It’s not just medical professionals who have to go to work right now, it’s people who work in grocery stores, it’s delivery people, it’s everyone keeping things going for the rest of us.
Load More Replies...What some ignorant people don`t get is that just because someone is an elderly, with this virus and their ignorance they`re robbing 5-10-20 years of people`s life. People dying of this virus struggled enough in their lives just to die from such a "silly flu" . You might not care till it`s happening to others, others getting sick, others losing loved ones, but it can turn upside down in any minutes affecting you.
My daughters are both nurses and I worked front line during SARS. It is no joke, if all you have to do is stay home to help than stay home and help. My daughters have no choice if they want to keep their jobs, they come home to children, spouses, parents. PLEASE DO YOUR SHARE and STAY HOME.
Your daughters are my heroes. I don't have children or a spouse, so I don't mind my situation (I am a trauma surgeon). But, those who have family to go home but can't are the ones who deserve honorable mention.
Load More Replies...Not everyone can do it. sorry. I need a paycheck, and working from home is a no go for me.
this is so sad. im only seeing things about the coronavirus more and more lately and seeing it make my worries worse. I wish you all of luck and STAY HOME PEOPLE!!!
I get more and more mad about this every day. It really underscores the fact that most of us can't think outside the box of capitalism. While bars, restaurants, theaters, etc all close, most offices stay open. White collar folks working safely from home now don't give a second though about how their continuing to work means other people have to go out. It's like those people who order food delivery when the weather is bad so they don't have to go out in it. Companies say their people are the priority but they keep trying to operate normally. Seems like the priority is Business Continuity FFS SMDH
But ordering food is keeping people from losing their jobs AND keeping people from leaving their homes. Food can be ordered & paid online and then left by the door (don't forget a generous tip) so no one is exposed. Grocery stores, gas stations, IT & communications, utilities, UPS/FEDEX/USPS, transportation and childcare for health care workers all need to keep working so the majority can stay home. Walking the dog is fine - the dog park is not. Suck it up you dramatic babies!

I haven't left our apartment in 3 1/2 weeks due to high risk health issues. I greatly admire all the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals that are risking their lives to save ours. God bless you all!
The only people that pat themselves on the back more than medical workers are teachers. Its your job. That you chose to go to school for and wanted to do. Stop complaining when things get tough. A lot of people have hard demanding jobs.
Teachers are over the top with their endless whining, self congratulations, accolades, begging, etc. You CHOSE the job and you get paid according to the skills needed for it, which aren't strenuous. Health care workers however are actually putting their lives & the lives of their families in danger - yes, they chose that career but there is no way for anyone to ever guess this would happen.
Load More Replies...Sorry extroverts, deal with it! It's not hard to stay home, just go watch TV and enjoy a break!
Like doctors and nurses around the world thought of "Pry For Japan" at the time of the great earthquake Well-intentioned globalization is spreading. He died against the Vietnam War and the song by John Lennon began to sing in my head.
I am one less worry for these people. I stay at home and I even don't want to call for food delivery so that some poor delivery guy with family wouldn't have to worry that he'll catch my virus in case I'm one of the asymptomatic people out there. For those people lacking the basic common sense and think they're immune [you're not!] and go around ignoring the warnings......YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! GET YOUR ASSES OFF THE STREET! DON'T BE A POTENTIAL MURDERER!
People please listen! Even if you don't care about yourself, care about those of us who are immunosuppressed! We can't fight this like you can and we've already been through so much!
I would love to! If I could afford it!!!! I don't have it yet, but I work PT and I don't have paid sick leave! If I don't go to work we don't have money for rent and food!!!!
I'm curious to get an American's insight into the potential 'forced quarantine' that may be coming your way. What are people's thoughts on the Government regulating you to that extent? Will they listen? Are people mad? I'm generally curious how a country that dislikes being regulated will handle just that.
Can someone please explain what that triangle thing they're doing with their hands means!
You also have a paycheck coming in. You can put food on your kid's plate. DO NOT THINK WE ARE THE SAME.
I get that but there is still so many people who go out partying and not caring. I get going to work but otherwise- people are ignoring the stay at home and spreading the virus without knowing.
Load More Replies...But all bets are off, normal rules don't apply. Governments are going to have to step in with something like universal benefits and/or mortgage breaks, eviction prevention, paid utilities etc. If they do or if they don't the risk of death for many people who are immunocompromised is too real. People have to stop being so utterly selfish. People need to stay at home to save lives - THAT is a fact. Anyone who thinks we can still p**s about playing at this is unbelievably stupid and clearly haven't understood the severity of the situation. For anyone who can, even if it is extremely difficult, STAY AT HOME.
