Little Holly, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross was found in the Bishop Auckland town of Coundon, County Durham. Just 5 days before Christmas.
A member of the public reported what he had thought to be the lifeless body of the animal in a bin, upon discovering she was in fact alive he boarded the bus to take the poor creature to the local vets for care.
When she was found Holly was unable to stand, unable to support herself or even lift her head up. Food could kill her if offered too much too soon as it would have been too much of a shock to her starved body.
Holly was taken to Stray Aid (http://www.strayaid.org.uk/) to be cared for at their kennels under the care of their on site veterinarian.
Holly weighed just a little over 7kg when she was found, which is the average weight of a pug!
Holly has now been in the care of Stray Aid for 7 days, she is able to walk around, she’s eating well and starting to gain weight. She is bright and alert and best yet, her tail has not stopped wagging!
Stray Aid are desperately seeking donations for the work they do to save these neglected and abandoned dogs. If you’d like to donate you can visit their website (http://www.strayaid.org.uk)
