Star Wars is universally popular so it’s no surprise that it should pop up in other countries in some shape or fashion. Nebuta is a festival in Northern Japan where they create giant illuminated floats out of washi (hardened Japanese paper) and a bamboo frame.
To celebrate the new Star Wars series, several floats were made depicting characters from throughout the series. It’s fitting as Japanese history and culture influenced the Star Wars universe.
