In her mid 30s, Maria was taken by the goddess who causes the soul to forget her life, on the way to her afterlife, at the river of the same name, Lethe.     “The sibyl rues the day, 1910, after Secchi” 26 x 39″ (67 x 100 cm) On the Dall’Ovo tomb in Milan’s monumental cemetery where I photographed them, they’re spaced farther apart, here their grief and apprehension are more dynamic. The sibyl fears that her prophecy may have not only predicted but caused the calamity.

They’re on separate corners, the elder regarding the younger, amused at the young woman’s discovery of sensuality.
