Rapper Says That He Won’t Go Blind By Looking Directly At Solar Eclipse, Regrets It Immediately

Never look directly into the sun. It’s just one of those things that everybody knows. Or that’s what we thought at least. But it turns out that some people recently viewed the solar eclipse without protective eye-wear, and one of those people was rapper Joey Bada$$.

“Am I crazy for watching the eclipse today w no glasses?” he tweeted recently. “This ain’t the first solar eclipse and I’m pretty sure our ancestors ain’t have no fancy eye-wear. Also pretty sure they ain’t all go blind.”

Nobody knows what happened to our ancestors, but the internet has a pretty good idea about what happened to Joey Bada$$, because shortly after his incredibly “bright” idea, he unexpectedly cancelled three shows in Cleveland, Chicago and Toronto. Coincidence? We’ll let you be the judge of that one. Scroll down to see how people responded to his bizarre act of bravado. Oh, and if you didn’t know already, staring directly into the sun is a really bad idea. Got that? Great.

I work with animals and someone asked me how we prevent them from looking at the sun. Answer: They don't... basically it is just humans that are foolish enough to stare into the sun.

Please, where does it say that he cancels the shows because of eye problems?

The article doesn't state a reason he cancelled, they were asking if it was a coincidence or if it's because he looked at an eclipse with no eye protection.

Cultures of the past do interpret an eclipse as a bad omen, so I guess a few just dared to look and most avoided gazing at it. I wonder who convinced Joey otherwise?

Some solar eclipses can make the light of the sun go almost completely for a few seconds. It's scary you know.

People warned him but he was too Bada$$ to listen. Or for his own good... If someone's silly enough to hurt himself in such a dumb way, I guess he simply deserves it.

Look I have heard for some people looking at the sun doesn't hurt their eyes but even though doing this action doesn't cause pain to your body it can STILL damage your eyes if you stare at the sun for awhile. If a poisonous snake were to bite you and the bite does not cause you a lot of pain you wouldn't just mess with it again letting it bite you even more.

Stupid and self destructive. And just for publicity. He ought to lose his public for this bad modeling.

My uncle looked at an eclipse like 60 yrs ago, he was told as a child he could look thru a bottle. he can still see but not well and his first 4 kids needed eye surgery. They were born cross eyed.

Well, Trump did it without glasses on.... (Of course, we already know he's politically blind, so who cares?)

Another example of "too stupid to live" Darwin behavior. Hopefully he doesn't pass on his DNA

No fancy eyewear? Ancient Chinese viewed the sun through dark quartz or thin slices of jade. They weren't stupid.... or rappers.
