Sol Cinema- World’s Smallest Solar Powered Movie Theatre

My friends and I made this tiny cinema. An audience of 8 are treated with red carpet, usherettes and popcorn to a cinematic experience for short films. The Sol Cinema has been lavished with pride and style. We use an LED video projector showing short movies in cinematic surroundings.

We use a solar generator to store renewable energy from the sun. Our photovoltaic panel harness the sunlight, even as the films are being shown, so we don’t run out of power.

The cinema is made from mostly recycled items.

I have been involved in independent film making since 1993. I picked up a camcorder to both record and support the thriving counter-culture in the UK. I went on to film direct action protests against car culture, filmed with political activists and smuggled hidden cameras into an Israeli prison and recorded many alternative life styles. My drive was to distribute stories rarely heard within the mainstream. I co-founded Undercurrents in 1994 as an alternative news agency. Together we established a unique independent distribution for films produced by grassroots environmental and social justice campaigners. My films have won more than 10 awards at international film festivals.
