Smashed Can Sculptures Made In The Ancient Style Of Ming Dynasty Porcelain
Drinking Tea is the name of an unusual and eye-catching ongoing project by Chinese artist Lei Xue.
The sculptor, photographer, painter and video artist uses porcelain to create sculptures that resemble crumpled and discarded soda cans, and as you can see from the pictures below, the result is both intriguing and mind-boggling. The white porcelain adorned with blue patterns is clearly inspired by the style typical of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), and the use of traditional ceramics to create contemporary pieces of art creates an interesting fusion between the old and the new. They were sculpted and painted completely by hand, and you can see more of Lei Xue’s beautiful artwork on Artsy as well as the website for the Gallery Martina Deterrer.
