Sketch Vs. Final: Artists Show The Huge Difference Between Their Sketches And Finished Artwork (30 Pics)
A recent trend on Twitter got artists all hyped up to share their artwork. The challenge 'Sketch vs. Final' asks the artists to share what their artwork looks like when it's first sketched out and when it's all finished and rendered.
The difference between the two is quite shocking and you start appreciating the work artists do even more. Some of the sketches look like a mess, and you can't even tell what they are—however, after some hard work, they end up looking beautiful and breathtaking.

Artists have proven over and over again that they have amazing skills we mortals can only dream of. This thread takes it to another level by showing us something so simple and sketchy coming to life as amazingly detailed illustrations, drawings, or digital art. No matter what the medium is, it requires lots of time, practice, and work to get this good. So it's great that users on Twitter are sharing their skills; perhaps they will inspire some that are just starting out.
Twitter is full of challenges and cool art and Bored Panda has made many articles about the viral themes on the website. Here is a thread about the hilarious ways Amazon hides packages when they deliver them. This Twitter account showed what Lord of the Rings characters would look like if they were dogs and, of course, a post about cats looking like complete bosses. Hopefully, these posts will lighten your mood or even give you a few laughs.
There are so many artists here on Bored Panda. Here are some of the very talented artists on Bored Panda. French artist Andry "Shango" Rajoelina creates adorable illustrations of famous characters from pop culture as families, this makeup artist transforms herself into almost anyone and anything, and here is some impressive black and gray realism tattoo work by Mr.T Stucklife. There are many artists here to inspire and save you from boredom.
So, what do you think of these artworks? Would you like to participate and show off your skills? Tell us in the comments below and don't forget to go follow the artists you like on their social media and like their work. It's very important to support artists out there. Perhaps even order a commission for a special occasion or to just hang it up on a wall to make your home that much special.
I'm getting a Sherlock Holmes vibe here. Looks like there's trouble ah foot
Those tiny little prism's of light creating little rainbows everywhere! And the character work is amazing!
YOONGI omfg you don't understand how much I loved his scar in that mv
I used to love these sort of pictures as a kid! There is so much going on it would take about as long to look at it as the artist took to make it.
aw, my looper pedal looks just like that! i love the art, it's very uwu.
I always love artists sketches. So full of life showing the artist's thought process in creating the piece. All the possibilities still in play. Thanks for this one - very exciting.
Liking the sketch as it looks like a fabulous piece of art in its own right
It's really cool to see the different ways each artist sketches out their ideas. Some of them are super detailed and others are really vague.
Defiantly agree with hydrostatic joints, love how every artist has their own vibe and style when bringing their projects to life
This has been so helpful for me. I really need to spend more time on the sketching phase. I always just dive straight in
Me, too, and it never looks like it did in my head. which is fine. but maybe I need to sketch more!
Load More Replies...They only got that good by drawing "poorly" hundreds or maybe thousands of times, honing their skill and their vision. Some took at classes (blocky hands] but all devoted many hours to drawing prints no one else has seen
Load More Replies...14, 17, 30 is not sketch, left draw is a final draw for the colorist. left draw is a artist work, right draw colorist work
No? They are sketches. Do you know what sketches even are?? The artist did both the sketching and the coloring phase, shut up dude.
Load More Replies...If I only had a tiny pinky-nail's worth of these artists' skills!!! Very interesting to see that the thought process behind a visual piece is akin to writer's plans and "rough drafts"... fascinating. (I also have an immense respect for composers of music- they see the world so much differently than the way I do)
As others have noted, I really liked this because it showed how different the sketches could be for every artist. I remember getting drawing books and such and they always made you start by learning how to draw a circle and seeing it still used for some people was really neat. I think people who are learning or practicing art/drawing/etc would really get a kick out of these.
oh how many of these i saved for inspiration while drawing Screenshot...03-png.jpg
Many of these loos that first is detailed and then you ad transparent foil upon it and draw lines, simplify.
Many of the sketches are so good, I would prefer them over the finished pictures.
