Despite the fact that most of us don’t really look at our schooling days fondly, it is a pretty common setting for all sorts of media. For some reason, teen drama simply sells, but the truth is often considerably more interesting than fiction.
Someone asked “What is some messed up drama that happened in your high school?” and people shared their best stories from the past. Genius dude, who is now a CalTech prof, was bullied mercilessly by a bunch of jocks, and the leader was a spoiled kid with a Porsche 928--this was 1985. A rumor started that someone f****d with this guy's car and as days went by it was clear that it was so bad the car was totaled, but not a lot of folks knew what happened. I was pretty good friends with this kid, Rob, was always nice to him and his brain (both parents worked at NASA JPL) fascinated me. Turns out Rob had managed to break into the guy's car at night at his house with a slimjim and left something tucked under the driver's seat. It was a tightly sealed Quart Ball Jar with a dead rat, 4" of hydrogen peroxide and 3" of water. The chemical putrefied the dead rat into a horrific stank liquid, and it also intensified the aroma produced, as Rob said, "By an order of magnitude." Rob said that anyone within 20' would puke uncontrollably, and the smell would persist YEARS. I think I'm the only one who knows why, a few days later, the jar exploded all over the car and the smell was so bad that they had to junk the car for parts. Pretty sure the kid got another Porsche from daddy--but the fact that Rob destroyed an entire Porsche and humiliated this dips**t for less than $5 is still legendary in my mind. I kept the secret until almost 20 years later.
I went to a Catholic high school. The priest on the faculty got a girl pregnant, then paid to get it terminated (and the Bishop paid off the girl's family to keep it quiet). The Pennsylvania grand jury exposed it 20 years later.
😊 so Catholics support abortion. Regardless, it shouldn't have been his choice.
Not “drama” per se but we had a kid drown during gym class. He couldn’t swim so the teacher had him swim laps in the shallow end with a kickboard while the rest of the class played water polo. Fast forward and halfway through the polo match someone noticed the kid wasn’t swimming laps next us. A student got out of the pool and looked and saw him at the bottom
of the deep end. The teacher dove down and pulled him up and started CPR but it was too late. I’ll never forget it, very traumatizing for any person and such a heartbreak for the kids family that lost him.
A girl in my school was sent to an active war zone by her extremely conservative parents at the ripe age of 14 to get married to a 40 year old man… so probably that…
I'm pretty sure that would be human trafficking. So... yeah.
Load More Replies...Damn, I can't even get my 13 year old to go to school let alone to another country.
Thank god there's now a movement/organization to put an end to child marriages. Wish I could remember the name.
I try to stay out of culture stuff, neutral observer so no one gets mad at me, but really? You know the guy probably raped her or something bad
Stupidity off the charts sending a child to marry a man in his 40s. Never mind an active war zone.
Teacher f****d a student. School got caught trying to brow beat the student to keep things quiet. They failed to remember that the kid’s mom was a lawyer who had mama bear on steroids instincts. And they lost hard. Last I heard that kid owned a few houses that he still rents because of the payout/ time the school tried to drag it out.
A girl in my year level (who was a habitual liar) told everyone she had cancer. For a few weeks everyone was giving her sympathy until her twin sister in the same year level (obvi) was asked how she was doing with the recent news. She was totally shocked and blatantly said that her sister doesn’t have cancer.
When I was in 11th grade a dude brought in a bunch of brownies and cupcakes and s**t like that. They were weed edibles. A bunch of students and teachers got surprise high. They back tracked it to the dude and he got in big time trouble. It was on the news and everything.
I'm surprised no one knew. Edibles are usually pretty obvious from the smell.
Eleventh grade girl became pregnant by eighth grade boy. He later caught her sleeping with his tenth grade brother. Both situations were hot gossip when they happened but impressively, there was less drama than you would expect.
A guy and a girl (both in ninth grade from what I can remember) decided to throw down and have sex with each other in a classroom in front of the entirety of the class. The teacher was out of the room — it was chaos. People yelling, some encouraging them, and others objecting. The teacher came back, and some of the students actively held the door to prevent her from interrupting. The cops got involved — it was all over the news, and the school shut down for, like, three days.
Supposedly, our principal was caught screwing a teacher at the school, during school hours. His wife was also a teacher at the school and his daughter was a student. When the county school board held a meeting to address the situation, the teacher he'd been sleeping with during the previous school year (still not his wife) got in a fight with the new mistress.
That's just one of many stories, our school was a cesspool of drama from the employees rather than the students.
After Christmas break of my Junior year in high school, our choir's accompanist was outed as a groomer and p*******e. The worst part was, because he had a voice comparable to Herbert on Family Guy, we had all made jokes about it for years. We, uh...didn't laugh much about it after the reveal.
The excessive censorship prevents me from understanding it. I first read "Pirate" then tried "pisshole" but after looking at contex it must be p. e. do . phi le ?
One of the science teachers, Mr Greene, would confiscate phones if he saw you using them in class. This was back in the flip phone days, so easy to look through. He was sending himself nudes the girls had taken of themselves and he forgot to delete the text history on one of them. Girl told the parents, parents told the school, after a search of his phone and computer found dozens of naked girls, he was fired, we never heard what happened to him.
Also, my 6th grade health teacher was also a gym teacher and always wore gym shorts. His nickname was Mr Boner, he always gave us the creeps. My senior year, he was arrested at the mall when he was with a student at Victoria’s Secret buying her underwear, she was 14. Brenton Unferth, scumbag.
My Freshman gym/ health teacher was called Mr. Crackshaw bc he was the school drug dealer. Of course, the school tried to cover it up but I did get verification by way of office staff. Loose lips can sink ships, but they can also keep you buoyant.
One of the girls in the junior high a couple of years below me was abducted. The whole community turned out to help in the search of the woods behind the girl's house. Kids from our school could volunteer as well so a lot did just that. One of the people who was helping in the search was her next door neighbor and, as it turns out, m******r. Pretty chilling to think a bunch of kids were side by side with the man who had k****d one of us.
Woah when BP said drama I thought it meant hallway gossip, not crime stories!!
The physics teacher left our school and went to another school where he then became the girls soccer coach and the cheerleading coach. I saw him on Fox 31 news a year after I graduated because he had slept with one of the 14-year-old students and ended up prison.
A guy on the wrestling team was also a drug dealer. He had a bag of double-bubble gum with each piece dipped in acid and re-wrapped. He kept his stash in a gym locker. Somehow, a couple freshmen found it and proceeded to pass it out. They ended up giving most of it to the freshman cheerleading team before their afternoon practice. The cheerleaders had no idea they were baking and let’s just that everyone freaked out. It was carried by multiple local news outlets that night. Never saw the guy again. This was 1995.
Volleyball coach/math teacher “resigned” for kissing a sophomore on the team. They then went on to have a public relationship. His family obviously supported it because she was in their Thanksgiving dinner photos on Facebook.
One of my classmates f****d the band teacher, and when his mom came into his room, he just told his mom to leave, shut the door, and went back to f*****g the teacher. At least that's the story that was told about why he was expelled and she was fired.
Two guys at my HS brought guns to school. They were caught before they could take action. Kids usually have sex in the bathroom. There are fights every 2-3 days
Lastly, Hannah left Brett on read
My Junior year the drama department did Peter Pan for their big play. But the lead dropped out the week before the first show and the understudy got really sick. They switched a bunch of roles around and it seemed like nobody knew what they were doing. To top it off the tech crew was a bunch of stoners that were high on opening night. It was a real disaster. Some of the worst high school drama ever.
gym teacher (who was engaged to a woman) f****d multiple students, got fired & was arrested.
for a senior prank, some students got a copy of his save the date, made a bunch of copies & brought them to school.
One of the popular kids stole his girlfriend’s dad’s car while they were drunk. Wrapped it around a pole, she ended up dead, he got off with basically a slap on the wrist. Community service and probation, mommy and daddy had enough money to pay a really good lawyer. He didn’t seem fazed by it, didn’t really even seem sorry. Just had excuses as to why it shouldn’t mean larger consequences for him.
Mommy and daddy clearly didn't do him any favors. I'd be curious to run a full background check on him to see if he's done it again or is in jail....
Two brothers, one a sophomore, one a senior, drag raced each other one weekend; one lost control and died. The sophomore returned
Short Version:
Last overnight trip in high school ever, I didn't go cause I was in hospital. Found out from my friend someone had spiked the hot chocolate when everyone was together around a campfire. Didn't hit anyone hard until later that night, from what I'm told there was things from existential crisis about life to sobbing about hair. The next day it took everyone there 4 hours to get up cause they were so hungover.
So I'm glad I stayed home.
"spiked" the hot chocolate? I wonder how many of those stories are real. There is no way you wouldn't notice booze in your hot chocolate.
Our school hired (unknowingly) hired a janitor who turned out to be a wanted criminal and a capital m******r. He was wanted in Tx n moved way up north either to escape or start fresh. He was working at the high school for sometime before something happened where he ended up getting caught n arrested.

Catholic school. One of the Monks (who were also teachers) left the brotherhood and shacked up with a divorcee Religious Education teacher.
Haven't heard/read that phrase in years. What's the difference between "shacking up" and just living together ? Seems like it's just a matter of being judgmental about two romantically involved people sharing a home without getting married first.
I’m a teacher and this was from like the third year of my career. One of the para’s in our school was busted for drug sales in a MAJOR way. Like $90k in cash and a metric f ton of drugs and weapons at his house. He was apparently pretty high up on the chain, I think he was sentenced to 10 years, and was among 25 total people arrested.
But he was the nicest nerdiest dude ever. Super happy and friendly, but looking back I guess that was the oxy. It’s always the ones you would never suspect.
Oh I remembered another one, a teacher I worked with was taking $$ for grades, $1 a point. Slip her a $100, you would get an A for the marking period. She had been doing it for long enough that she bought herself a car. She was charged and got 18 months probation and lost her teaching license.
One of the assistant teachers (who every girl thought was so cute, ew) went on a camping trip to Maine with one of the sophomore girls (who was dating someone in a couple grades above) and video taped him and her having sex. Yes, he got caught thankfully but wow, that was gross....
This d**k dumped this girl because she was diagnosed with cancer, and once word got out everyone started bad mouthing him. He then went back to her because he said he felt like he “had to”.
I mean these things can be difficult. But you shouldn't be with somebody out of obligation alone. I think you can still be friends, be polite. But nobody should have to remain with anyone.
Math teacher (male at fifties) and another math teacher (f at forties) getting caught f*****g each other in lab by janitorial staff. Both got fired
The head football coach was writing kinky notes to two girls in my grade. He lost his job and teaching license. Football families protested and threatened not to send their kids to school because he was fired.
All the ones that are "teacher f****d a student": the word is R.A.P.E. and doesn't belong in a "crazy highschool drama" list. 🤬
Came here to say this. Teachers having sex with students is called RAPE.

Load More Replies...Every year of my highschool was marked by a big event at the school. Freshman year a student let off a pipe bomb on the last day. Sophomore there was a month long teacher strike. Junior year the students staged a walk out when the district couldn't afford busses and got rid of them (we are talking a large number of students living 20+ miles away). Senior year some students burned down the middle school down the street and we had to rearrange our campus so those displaced students could use one of the buildings for school. Fun times.
I know two stories. One, a girl had dated a guy a few times. Girl was very interested in the guy. Guy not so interested in the girl. Guy didn't want to date her further. Girl randomly hired a couple of people literally off the street to beat her up. Then claimed the guy did it. Police unraveled the story pretty quickly, but she was never charged with the false report and the following year, she was back at school. My first year teaching, the other teachers told a story that one day, a first year teacher suddenly just stopped speaking in mid-sentence. Put down their chalk. Walked out of the room. Walked out of the school. Walked a few miles to the local Wal-Mart. Got into the cab of a random truck, and apparently told the driver: "Get me the f**k out of here." Three months later, she called her husband to tell him where she was. They had three small kids too. She just had a severe nervous breakdown.
There seems to be some confusion about what constitutes rape and what consent is. People over the age of consent who engage in sex with their peers can consent to sex. Where a person in a position of AUTHORITY, POWER or TRUST has sex with a person in their care or to whom they owe a duty of care THERE CAN BE NO CONSENT. Teachers having sex with students is STATUTORY RAPE.
a kid stuck his phone under the bathroom stall door and took a pic while I was inside. He got caught, but the school refused to tell me who it was because it would "violate his privacy". I am now at a new school for numerous reasons.
That kid is sick. Hope you are doing better now.
Load More Replies...I went to a small rural school. The school had a policy that a student office aide had to call the doctor's office to verify any appointments or you got an unexcused absence. There were two OB/GYNs for the whole county and one of them did abortions. Therefore, you had to tell a fellow classmate if you were going to THE abortion doctor. I had a classmate who suffered immeasurable ridicule for being a s**t for supposedly getting 14 abortions. She also missed a bunch of school. It was so pervasive that junior year, the English teacher repeatedly looked at her and did the head nudge thing while discussing the Scarlet Letter. She actually had endometriosis.
Such a violation of privacy, that poor girl!
Load More Replies...Two of my high school classmates (Illinois) were reported missing by their parents. Everyone thought they'd run off together. Days turned into weeks...and their bodies were found by some railroad tracks in Florida. We were all about 16-17 yrs old at the time.
That one is tough. Sorry you had to go through that.
Load More Replies...A sub at my middle school was caught watching child porn in class, also there was a kid who stole a toilet, sinks are always being ripped off the walls, kids get caught having sex and vaping all the time, and there was that kid who basically made a girl date him cuz if she didn’t he would kill himself
Over 50 years ago, one of my friends was going on vaca with family. They had another friend coming in to feed, walk the dog daily. When the friend went in the first day after they "left", he found the whole family dead. The father had bashed them with a sledgehammer as they slept, then offed himself. It was never said as to why he did it. She was my friend since 3rd grade. I still have pictures of her at my BD parties & at school activities. Tragic. RIP my friend.
teacher at our school used to go on holiday and buy cheap cigarettes and whiskey and was then selling it to pupils at our secondary school
Being in a boarding school, the students bought and sold the cheap booze and alcohol to each other!
Load More Replies...my schools had a few stabbings, leaked sex tapes, that kinda s**t. idk anything that ground breaking though. oh and some pregentant 14 yr olds.
A cheerleader at my old high school got suspended from the busses for giving her boyfriend head on the school bus. I cannot wrap my mind around the train of thought that made her think it was a good idea.
I was in a boarding school, no not fancy, in South Africa in the 80s. Those 4 years were the best and the worst, very comparative to this list and quite few tou wouldn't think of. Despite it all, I would change it. Very few of us lived anywhere close to each other, but many of us are still friends and keep in contact and see each other. Some bonds are unbreakable, 33 years later.
Ok, in an after-school club all the boys (AND the male teacher) locked the girls in the history room and showed a movie of one of them having explicit sex with a prostitute. They had to stay for the whole thing. Wtaf.
I have a couple from wĥen my kids were in middle sçhool.(grades 5-8). One was the school police officer was arrested on campus for having sex with a student from fifth to eighth grade. Also a fifth grader was found hanging in the boys bathroom. He supposedly took his own life but nobody believes it and it was never investigated. The restroom wasn't used that often but my son who was also in fifth grade had just used that bathroom ten minutes before. After that the security cameras showed several boys going into the restroom and there was only one who didn't come out again. About 30 minutes later his body was found.
A boarding high school in my town got very very popular for having the female students get frequently pregnant. Now because there was no way they needed the news escalating to their parents or school authority, their student boyfriends (or perhaps teachers) would manipulate clothing rack hangers and perform abortions for them with it. I hated that place.
At my high school the student body was divided roughly 50/50 between mainly local-born Australian kids and migrant kids (mainly Pommy bastards). There was general animosity between the two groups. One year the school left the sports ground unmowed. The grass got so long that you could grab a good handful of grass and pull up a sizeable clod of dirt. The inevitable happened and one lunch-time there was a pitched battle involving well over half the students (maybe 400+ kids). Totally destroyed the sports oval which had to be ploughed and re-sown. There were no ring-leaders, just spontaneous eruption of violence, and we loved it. No punishments, but there were a whole lot of councillors hanging around for a while.
2 stories: Assistant Principal, who was white, said the N-word (hard R I think, but it doesn’t really matter). An investigation was launched, but she wasn’t fired because of unionization reasons (VERY hard to fire a teacher/education professional, for better or worse), however, this prompted the football coach to resign… in SUPPORT of her. Also (different school), a gym teacher is widely known to be a major perv who took videos of multiple girls working out, but he wasn’t fired and still works there. I’m guessing that they weren’t able to search his phone for evidence without a warrant, and multiple girls testifying isn’t enough for a warrant. He is also known to make racist jokes and prevent girls from going to the nurse for period pain (exact words: “I have six periods per day”, I was there). Plus the standard weed in the bathrooms stuff.
We had dealers outside of our high-school, he was a student. Nothing happened until a ruch parent found out and complained. The stones held dope parties on the tennis court, the teachers couldn't care less. The entire area was covered in smoke and most who didn't participate got headaches.
A couple weeks ago there was a (very small) fire at my school. A guy was working on stuff in the woodshop, used the wrong tool for something, started a small fire, a spark got in the vents, and so there was smoke everywhere. Nobody was hurt, we just left the building and ended up standing outside for an hour.
I believe all that happened to said guy was an in-school suspension, and losing his woodshop privileges.
Load More Replies...We had a relatively new teacher who became the English and debate teacher. He wasn't that much older than us in high school, fresh out of college, so everyone loved him. Some girl went to the office during the year and told them that he and her were having a relationship with him private messaging her. I guess they jumped the gun and fired him without proof b/c everyone was weirded out by his empty classroom the next day. However, he did come back; the girl later admitted to making it all up. She definitely was not well-liked after that.
During my high school years (96-00), it had become a rumor that one of my classmates was dating one of the JROTC instructors. I didn't believe it until I saw him driving her car with her in the passenger seat. I can't recall if there was any punishment but I do recall hearing of him leaving his wife for her and her getting into huge fights with her parents over him. He was a good 40 years older than her at the time.
Middle school. 8th grade, so 13/14-yr-olds. Single English teacher who thought she was Miss PopularPerfect, wore WAY too much gold makeup and tanned til her skin was beef jerky. New kid moves to our school, he's much older than the kids in our grade, he's 16. Suddenly he's being seen going into her class, alone, and her door is locked, every lunch period. And more than once he's come out with his shirt inside out, and hers are.. rumpled. Rumors abound but nothing ever comes of it.
Have to say, these are pretty tame given all the things that happened in my high school. There was the English teacher that died from AIDS complications, who was replaced by a teacher who died from breast cancer, who was replaced by a teacher who died in a car accident ... after that no one would teach the honors level English class in my year - there seem to be a common belief that we were cursed. There was a car accident where we had four students who were hit by a semi- trucker (three of them were cut completely in half, and the one that was thrown from the vehicle, broke her neck and drowned to death in a puddle on the side of the road), there was the suicide pact, where we lost 13 students one night, a few rapes that no one would go to the police about, I could go on but ... do you know, I think maybe we were cursed.
My Junior year, our white-bread, Northern Michigan, hick school got a new principal who came from inner city Chicago. We had just under 100 students total and he treated us like we were staring in Dangerous Minds (1995), when in fact we were mostly Future Farmers of America. Even the teacher's hated him. So, one of the auto shop guys destroyed his car with a potato cannon.
