‘The Mighty Ducks’ Star Shaun Weiss Has Been Sober From Meth For More Than 230 Days, Receives New Teeth As A Gift
Shaun Weiss, a New Jersey-born child star primarily known for his role as Greg Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks is 42 now and hasn’t been making movies for a while.
He was arrested earlier this year for allegedly breaking into a man’s garage while high on meth.
“Weiss forced entry to gain access into the vehicle by shattering a window,” police said in a statement. “Officers noticed shattered glass on the ground and observed that the passenger window to the vehicle was broken.”
His friend Drew Gallagher, however, said that in reality, Weiis was just sleeping in the car because it was freezing and snowing outside.

Gallagher has been helping the former actor get back on his feet. And they’re certainly making progress — Weiss has been sober for over 230 days.
“Detoxing is hell, I’m told, and I’ve seen it with my own eyes,” the loyal friend told Bored Panda. “But after Shaut got through it, things started to change.”
“After another month he should be allowed to get his own place and be free and clear to live life [to the fullest],” Gallagher added.

“There’s not a blameless Shaun Weiss here, he is definitely to blame for a lot of stupid s— he does,” Gallagher told People earlier this year. “But if you were to spend any time with him, you would have a drastically more compassionate understanding of what he was about.”
Gallagher said that his buddy needs medical and psychiatric attention. “He’s sick, he’s mentally ill. He’s just sick and everybody gives up on him.”
He started a GoFundMe to raise money to help Weiss after his arrest. Since its launch in January, the campaign has raised over $16,000.
One of the main things Weiss needed was dental treatment, as meth abuse had destroyed his teeth. But after hearing about his situation, LA-based Dr. Gabe Rosenthal offered his services virtually free of charge.
“He’s just a great guy,” Dr. Gabe told Page Six of Weiss. “We mesh really well.”
“He’s such a good guy, such a sweetheart. He’s putting his weight back on. He is so much more confident. He’s ready to go. He feels better. Every time I see him, he gains a few more pounds.”

“His face is filling out,” Dr. Gabe added. “He’s smiling like crazy now.”
In July, Weiss sat in Dr. Gabe’s chair to mend broken root tips, clear infections, and remove broken teeth. He then got implants followed by teeth, which are made by the same porcelain as celebrity-loved veneers. He underwent 4 oral surgeries so far, but there’s more to come.

Dr. Gabe hopes to finish his work with Weiss in early 2021. The entire process start-to-finish would’ve cost about $80,000 but since Rosenthal donated his dental services for free, the money from the GoFundMe is said to be going towards other expenses.
“(It’s) allowed Shaun to use the GoFundMe funds to pay rent at his sober-living as well as buy some groceries,” Gallagher wrote an update. “He’s even got an inexpensive laptop so he can access the Internet.”

Here’s what people have been saying about Shaun’s transformation
Please consider contributing to Shaun’s recovery if you’re in a position to do so
While it is commendable that he finally made the choice to become sober, my question is: had he not been known as a child star, would he have received the same $80,000 dental treatments for free? Sadly, my guess is no.
I saw the before image and could not believe it was the same man as the robust and healthy-looking Shaun. It's a miraculous difference. Drew is a great friend and Shaun worked hard.
Wow. Hard to believe anyone could look so ancient and done for in their early 40s. And that it's possible to come back from that. Hopefully this will inspire some others who had given up on someone, or on themselves, to give it another go. Although it must be hard if you don't have the support of someone determined and a gofundme to help.
I hope he's getting mental health care. Learning to cope is a huge step on the path to recovery.
I'm happy he got help. If every addict had someone to pick them up and take care of them, this world would be a much better place.
the gofundme page is still active! :D https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-goldberg-shaun-weiss-treatment-fund
I hope he gets help to start a job or career. After he gets stable, that's what will help him stay stable. Good luck!
Aww, man! Beautiful what happens when we help each other! This is why we need to stop screwing around & take care of ourselves, so we have the strength to help others. I'm positive I don't have the strength to help someone on this level, but even if we could do something small, it could mean the world to someone💗
