19-Year-Old Black Cat Turns Into A Marble Beauty, Most Likely Due To A Rare Skin Condition

Back in 1997, a man named David bought a black cat, not knowing that one day it will get a marble patterned fur. His owner recalls the moment he met the cat: “Scrappy was sitting on his own and, though he was a beautiful cat, we didn`t think others would regard him to be as cute as his siblings. I made the decision to take Scrappy as I knew he would be the last one to be taken, if at all,” David told MeowBox.

The cat’s coat pattern started getting white when he was 7-years-old. Most likely, this is due to vitiligo, a genetic mutation that is extremely rare in cats. This doesn’t affect the kitty’s health in any way, and the 19-year-old black and white cat is happy, healthy, and totally kicks ass! Yup, that’s where his name comes from: “Despite his age, he [picks scraps] with the neighborhood cats… I guess you could say that he rules the street.”

The owner added: “Scrappy is a total diva! He isn’t the best cat to take photos of as most of the time he looks the other way or walks away… He can also be quite grumpy at times.” Nevertheless, the guy adores his pet and says Scrappy is very affectionate towards him. David is the only person that gets to rub Scrappy’s belly, and, seeing how beautiful the grumpy ‘nordic god’ cat is, we couldn’t be more jealous!

I have a solitary, seemingly grumpy cat also... my mum rescued her from a dumpster and she's definitely got a lot of street in her. But when she is in the mood to be sweet, she showers the few people she trusts in so much love and affection (and cat hair haha). There's something i love about cats with this type personality, they're very direct in a way few people are

Fascinating that the vitiligo affects the fur color. I wonder if people with vitiligo also experience differentiation in hair color, as well. Beautiful and intriguing!

Yessir! I'm one of them and where a vitiligo spot of mine touches my eyebrow fur grows white.
