My Self-Portraits Are Not Ment To Represent Myself, They Show A Deeper Meaning

Photography is a means of expression for me and especially in my self-portraits I show much of myself. These photos were taken all in 2015 and each reminds me of a special moment during the year.

There is a big difference between a Selfie and a Self-Portrait and I hope this can be seen in my works. I do not do these pictures, because I find myself particularly beautiful or because I want to represent myself. They have a deeper meaning.

In addition self-portraits are an incredible amount of work. If I have an image in my head that I want to bring to life, I make almost everything possible. I go at minus temperatures in the water and wandering for hours to find a suitable location. This I would never expect from a model. So I have to do it by myself.

My name is Katja Kemnitz. I am 31 years old and I live in Bonn, Germany with my two daughters.
