Say Hello To The Underwater Equivalent Of The Predator, The Sarcastic Fringehead.
The predator movies are a series about an alien hunter, who, well, hunts. And while it is a creature of fantasy, we can see our real-life counterparts. This creepy dingo is called the Sarcastic Fringehead, and he’s got lots to him.
Meet the Sarcastic Fringehead, a creepy fish with a mouth big enough to be a Mukbang youtuber.

They love to live in shells. However, you probably won’t be eaten by one anytime some, (or ever) because they only use their mouth to defend their home. They, however, are very angry, so these Aqua-African elephants aren’t scared to fight against anything that enters their territory. And as the article below states, their mouth is wider than their body, no offense, but they aren’t winning any beauty contests.
Luckily, they aren’t tethered to that look, they only use their movie monster mode in a emergency.

Sarcastic Fringeheads use special jawbones to achieve that perfect horrifying demon mouth look. Okay, maybe I’m being too harsh, these guys are incredible! They are known to swim in fast, dart-like movement and have a lifespan of up to 6 years. They also won’t stop attacking until you scurry like a dingo out of their home. They attack everything, octopus, scuba divers, other males, and basically anything that deem a threat to their home. Unfortunately, this list includes most of everything.
These buggers are not friendly!

Due to having a shortage of living spaces, males tend to brawl when they get too close to another male’s home, much like a jealous husband. These fish tend to grow up to 20 centimeters, or 7 inches, and their dorsal fin goes from the back of their head to the end of their tail. They are also like Rhinos, having such poor eyesight they attack everything they see whether the intention of the creature was bad or not, they just don’t trust you. In order to fight a male, they “Mouth Wrestle” which primarily consists of ramming their mouths into one another, with the bigger mouth typically ending in victory. Yeah, they measure their mouths, and the bigger mouth establishes dominance. and to add to this they are ambush predators, I’ll explain more on the next photo.
What do they hunt?

These feisty coyotes love to snack on small crabs, and they do this by waiting and ambushing them. But they don’t stop there, during squid hatching season they love to eat squid eggs and squids, and they won’t back down from fighting an octopus either, so the tentacle bros have met their match. You can find this tiny terror along the Pacific Coast of North America, between northern California and Mexico. I would also like to point out that this crab in the photo will never meet a Sarcastic Fringehead because it’s a freshwater crab and Fringeheads live in saltwater.
Thanks for reading!
