People Are Cheering For The Satanic Temple For Stepping Up To Protect Abortion Rights In A Viral Letter To The FDA
If you think of people with a lot of compassion and respect, the Satanists wouldn’t be exactly the ones that come to mind. But recently, The Satanic Temple, a non-theistic religious group, has gone viral for only good reasons.
The members of the temple announced online that it demanded the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) grant the group access to drugs that induce abortion “without being subjected to the agency’s regulations.” The demand that requests access to abortion pills known as misprostol and mifepristone was made under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Moreover, the Temple’s letter to the FDA came the same day that the Supreme Court validated a Texas law that prohibits abortions after six weeks. If allowed to remain, the law would be the strictest against abortion rights in the US since the high court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.
“We still have Religious Liberty, and we believe in bodily autonomy,” The Satanic Temple announced on Twitter, amassing a lot of supportive reactions.

The U.S. Supreme Court refused to obstruct a Texas law that amounts to a ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. The vote was 5-4, with three Trump-appointed justices joining two other conservative justices.
According to the Texas law that was signed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in May, abortions once medical professionals can detect cardiac activity are prohibited. This happens as early as around six weeks and many women don’t even know they’re pregnant at that point.
Even though the Supreme Court’s decision left an option for abortion providers to challenge the Texas law in other ways, the future of the Texas law is yet unknown, leaving many women frustrated and miserable to say the least.

Moreover, more states are moving towards curbing abortions. While Texas has passed the strictest abortion measure in the U.S., many conservative states are seeking to ban most abortions earlier in gestation. Today, most states restrict woman’s access to abortion in late pregnancy.
President Biden on Thursday slammed the Supreme Court ruling, saying it “unleashes unconstitutional chaos.” He promised the White House will be looking for ways the federal government could ensure Texans have access to safe and legal abortions and to protect people from enforcement of the Texas law, in an official statement.

Meanwhile, The Satanic Temple, a non-theistic religious group whose beliefs are not centered around any deity, demanded the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) grant the group access to drugs that induce abortion “without being subjected to the agency’s regulations.” In a pursuit of a religious exemption to access drugs that induce abortion, the Temple’s lawyers contacted the FDA.
But it’s not the first ongoing lawsuit the Temple has in Texas. “We were fighting against restrictions upon abortion access before yesterday’s almost all-out ban of abortion in Texas,” a co-founder of the temple, Lucien Greaves, told the press.

It turns out that back in August 2020, the temple ritualized the process of getting an abortion for its members. It was made to cater to an emotional need of congregants and hold against the increasingly prohibitive abortion law-making around the country.

The ritual involves counseling before and after the abortion procedure, as well as carrying out a careful medical examination to ensure that an abortion is safe to a member’s health. According to the co-founder of The Satanic Temple, the ritual counseling focuses on the member’s personal ethical values and the temple’s tenets, which emphasize the importance of science and personal freedom.

Why is Satan in the name? I'm asking genuinely because I wouldn't think anyone would want to be associated with something they definitely don't believe in. Just wonder why it's in the name?

You can grow beating heart cells in a petri dish

Abortions aren't illegal here but if they were, I wouldn't have had the option when my then boyfriend ra*ed me while I was unconscious due to the strong painkillers the hospital gave me for the accident I'd had earlier that day, which involved broken bones.
So sorry for that horrible experience and thank you for being open and honest so that others might finally learn a thing or two. I consider myself more spiritual not religious but TST has my support 😊

Sorry to nit-pick, but the Church of Satan, and The Satanic Temple are two different things. The seven rules you read were part of The Satanic Temple. -- they sound the same, but they are very different groups, with very different philosophies.

People that believe TST is evil are the reason that Satan exists as their symbol. They are against people not doing their own research and blindly committing themselves to hearsay. If you believe TST is evil you should take a look at what you base your beliefs on.
I’ll bet this just chaps the ass of every evangelical MAGAt out there. Good, they need it. Bravo Satanic Temple.
It takes 2 minutes and is completely free. They have been overrun with membership so if you order any of their merch, like a fancy little membership card in a style of your choosing that will have your name on it, it's taking about a month for delivery. I decided to get a card which also comes with a certificate & you get to pick out of several designs. I suppose you could frame & hang the certificate, I'm not sure what I'll do. A lapel pin and a pack of stickers. I'm 45 and the chances of me getting pregnant, especially since I'm single, would be a bloody miracle. I joined in solidarity and well.....it pisses people off and I'm all about it!
Not a single female lawmaker has brought a single law to the house or senate that would hold men accountable for their bodies and responsibilities for their part in making a pregnancy. Not one. Shame on you! Hold men accountable. Women, stand up and support us all.
What I want to know, is why there are no issues, laws against them, with the men who impregnate these women, and the responsibility they now have with paying for said child to be, and ALL THE OTHER babies that will be born and then most sent in to the foster care system?! Why are men NOT held accountable for their behavior and part in the " let's have sex, oops.. we made a baby!" Entire process?? Why can't they be penalized for not wearing condoms, have their little sperm tube tied, made sterile? Why is it always the woman's fault if she ends up pregnant and never the boy's? And I say boys because most of the men act like boys fertilizing women like a bee in the spring! No cares no worries, my d**€ works great! See? I made a bunch of babies! I can't wear a condom because it stops me from feeling anything. Get real. If women lose control over what they can do to their bodies then men need to watch out. There may be a bunch of drive by nut cutting dates in their future! Just saying.
So tell me more about TST. I like their pro abortion move, but is it a legit religion? (The Satanic Church in Amsterdam was merely a brothel calling itself a chruch for tax reasons.)
It’s a real church that seems designed primarily to work legally against religious overreach by claiming similar rights. For instance, since Christians could erect statues of Jesus on public land, the Satanists claimed the right to erect statues of Satan on public land. (That’s a picture of the statue above.) The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster also tried to register as a real church but were denied in court, with the judge saying it was clearly a joke. With burning bushes, golden lizards and magic underwear in acceptable religions, I’m not sure where you draw that line.

The only people who make us think demons and satanism are evil are the churches themselves. And isn't it their job to love everyone and be good to one another?
Yeah that’s not actually true. Evil exists, and it has little to do with modern fairy stories.

The "it's my religion" defense doesn't hold the power you think it does. Sadly.
'Forcing' people to wear masks and receive vaccines as a public health measure is not comparable to denying women the right to a medical procedure undergone at their own personal decision. Can you imagine how some religions would lose their s**t if circumcision were banned? Abortions are not contagious.
