All through 2018, I ignored my artistic nature. My beloved street photography was put on the back burner when a little white Chihuahua entered my life. I was busy walking him rather than people watching. The camera just seemed to get in the way and became a burden. Eventually, I stopped taking pictures altogether.

When 2019 came around I was really feeling the need to once again create. However, I had no idea what to do now that I wasn't doing photo art. And I certainly wasn't feeling particularly inspired by the other art mediums I'd done before. So when I remembered how ten-year-old me liked to cut up mom's magazines and make photo collages I thought I'd give it another go. Only this time it would be done digitally. (Less mess and many more beautiful photo options.)

January saw me dive right back into the cut and paste realm of collage art. And wouldn't you know it, I took to it like the proverbial fish to water. Almost immediately I found myself whipping out a new work of art every day. And the more I did, the more collage ideas I had. Collages have no right or wrong. No rules. No boundaries. This unique art gives me the freedom to have a bit of fun while making something people actually want to see. It's invigorating to be full of both wonder and pride. That little girl sitting on the floor, surrounded by scraps of paper, is finally free again. And she's grinning her buck-toothed self silly.
