Here’s a story that’s worth documenting. After a five-day search, the search and rescue operation was finally over. The wildlife protection services were looking for an orphaned and reportedly emaciated lion cub that had been spotted by hikers just a few days ago, and their effort finally bore fruit.
With the help of wildlife cameras, search teams, and other tools at their disposal, California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) finally found the orphaned cub. Rose, as she was called by Oakland Zoo staff, was in critical condition, and help came just in the nick of time. She weighed less than three times what she should weigh, and was so dehydrated that the tests didn’t pick up on the readings. Scroll down and learn what happened next.

Rose is receiving round-the-clock care. Besides being dangerously emaciated and dehydrated, she also had fleas and ticks

The specialists are cautiously optimistic about Rose’s condition. Her care team bottle-feeds her a few times a day with a formula

She won’t be released back into the wild since she missed out on learning the necessary hunting skills

Oakland Zoo and CDFW are searching for a good home for her to stay in

Here’s a video that summarizes Rose’s whole story so far

Now that video made my day 😍😍😍 Get well soon, you cute little fluff ball with the most impressive murder mittens
Glad that she was rescued in time. She has the most beautiful eyes
There's a really great documentary on Discovery+ called "Natural World: Mountain Lions, Life on the edge" I will warn you there's some pretty sad parts. But that's obviously expected when you're talking about one of the most endangered species of cats in the americas. The documentary follows this researcher/conservationist in Wyoming who is helping to figure out how to get the population to stabilize and monitoring mothers and their cubs in order to figure out how certain mothers are more successful in raising cubs as well as trying to figure out how these animals socialize with one another in the wild. It's fascinating and eye opening. N it really makes you want to help save this beautiful cat from extinction. But I definitely recommend watching it if you're a nature and cat lover like myself.
Try the wild animal sanctuary in keeneburg colo run by pat Craig he recently opened a refuge and is looking for mountain lions that need help I love his org
Great story but needs an editor. The first bit where the cub weighed less than three times what she should weigh...I also weigh slightly less than three times my recommended weight.
if you weigh 3x less than you're supposed to as an adult man... depending on your height, build n age... so the average is roughly 170-230lbs... that would mean you would weigh less than 76 lbs going from the high end. Again, this isn't completely accurate cause I don't know your height or age. But that's the recommended weights with some give/take room for all groups of adult men... and if you're an adult man and you weigh 76lbs and you're not someone who has dwarfism or any other disease/ailment that would cause you to be smaller than the average man... then you need to see a doctor because that's not healthy or normal. You're proving your own point wrong. I'm just over 5'4" tall.. I'm 28.. I weigh 103 lbs and I need to gain weight.. I'm not at a healthy weight. N I look like I'm not healthy. (Thyroid issues) so if you weigh 76 lbs.. as a man.. that's severely unhealthy. Just like this kitten. That's Holocaust victim unhealthy. So you're either a liar or u need to see a doctor ASAP
