A Robot That Grows All The Food You Need In Your Own Backyard
Imagine if there was a machine that would take care of your garden 24/7 and do everything from planting seeds to killing weeds. Well, actually, there already is one. FarmBot is an open-source automated precision farming machine that does all the work in your backyard and let’s you enjoy the harvest without getting your hands dirty. The best part? It will become better and better because everyone can be a part of it.

i agree, but if you are hopeless at gardening, too poor to buy food but rich enough to buy a 3000 dollar machine, this is for you!
Load More Replies...I think a lot of people are loosing the point of "open source" here...Contrary to almost every automatized (mainly professional) tools you can find on the market, you can have here freely the plans and programming freely and built one yourself (and improve it). That's the whole point of open source machines! You don't depend on big company to build/repair/improve your tools! Yes there is the question of utility because it's just starting, but in the end it will certainly become interesting for some people. Maybe not individuals indeed ;)
I don't think this is terribly practical in all but the most arid climates here on earth. However, this is likely to be the future of growing food in space!
