Someone Notices Rihanna’s New Lingerie Is Different For Thin And Plus-Size Women, Posts Side-By Side Comparison
Rihanna took the cosmetic world by storm when she gave women of all shades what they had asked for for so many years – the correct shade – so when she released ads for her new body inclusive Savage X Fenty lingerie line we knew once again that Rhi Rhi would bless us – for some though the praise was premature.
On Wednesday the singer turned style mogul released her Savage X Fenty’s Valentine’s Day Decadence collection with bra sizes in 32A to 42DD for bras and XS to 3X for panties and bralettes, and while the sizes ranged – so did the designs. Teen Vogue Fashion blogger Alysse Dalessandro took to Twitter upon the design release to question why the design differences between the smaller and larger sizes were so drastic, using the “Hearts Unlined Bra” and “Hearts Half Cup Bralette” designs as an example.
As some pointed out while structural differences are sometimes required to give plus sized women more support, that doesn’t have to come at the cost of sexiness. To further prove this point Instagram user Ashleigh Tribble, who has called out Savage X Fenty before, told Teen Vogue ” other brands that cater to plus-sizes have no problem creating the same, or even sexier, lingerie.”

Rihanna released her Savage X Fenty Valentine’s Day Decadence collection on Wednesday, with a campaign focused on championing women of all shapes and sizes
But one fashion blogger quickly noticed some pretty obvious design differences between the small and plus sizes

She also said that “A lot of people have pointed out they think that the straight size bra would not work for plus-size women. I think that’s not recognizing all of the ways that personal style and body type vary by person. Not everyone cares about support. That’s a personal choice.”

Share on FacebookOh, the uproar! Finally, we have something to be offended by, again. Brexit chaos in Europe? War in Syria? Shutdown in the US? Hell, who cares, we can be offended by the fact that apparel with fine details does not scale from XS to XXXL. (I truly hope this post does not offend anyone, but I am rather sure it will.)
I agree with Meowton, but really, the importance of female clothing issues is often underestimated. I understand ending a war is more important (I was literally born into one), and I understand very poor women cannot even afford to buy and wear ANY bra. But does that mean that I have to live a miserable life because there's no support and no clothes that would emphasize my otherwise beautiful body? Life is not eternal and youth is short. You have to enjoy it while you can, but without proper clothes, there's something that's missing. It's about self-expression we're talking about, not about some self-entitlement and exaggerated demands.
Load More Replies...I think both bra's look quite nice actually. And wow, very sexy underpants, for both the regular size as the plus size. Too bad Im more of a comfort type of girl ;)
Those bottoms look pretty comfortable. Depends on what they are made out of though.
Load More Replies...The bras are different because larger breasted women need more support. Those flimsy little straps in the small bras do nothing to hold up bigger boobs, and that would make me feel uncomfortable if I wore them . It's all about practicality - stop being so offended over everything
Pretty sure nothing about that bra was meant for support anyway
Load More Replies...I have almost zero boobs, so I can't speak for big boobed women's struggles, but what I can say from my experience is that bras for tiny boobs have to have more detail to get interesting since there's nothing there.... a bra for a medium or big size is a frame for the boobs, a bra for tiny tits is the art itself. My swimming suit top has frills on it because I'll look flat if it doesn't. I think different body shapes don't necessarily need to have the exact same clothes... there are clothes I don't wear because they don't look good in my flatness, but there are some that look better with no boobs. And bust sizes is a separated issue, imo, since it doesn't necessarily has to do with your weight.
In a world where the majority seem to favour bigger boobs, I take great delight that I can buy pretty bras with little worry about "structure" - thank you rafaella for explaining so eloquently

Different trims and even fabric has to be used sometimes. A garment goes through quite a vigorous quality control and testing before it ends up on a shelf. There are laboratories, that test all the components. Fashion design and manufacturing is an impressive process, although, what a consumer sees is only the glam part of it - a tip of the iceberg
Good point. It is just impossible to do identical design when there is a huge difference between the sizes. It would not be wearable.
Load More Replies...As for me, this is just another unnecessary rage. I do not know all this collection, only these examples from Bored Panda (and I seriously don't feel the need to dig deeper). These presented here looks sexy and pretty cool, even if it is not really my style. Ok, there are different designs for different sizes but I personally see no problem here. I hate all kinds of body shaming but we must be realistic - something that looks good on curvy women will not look good on the very skinny ones (and the other way around). Not because one body type is worse than another but because they're *different* body types. It is just normal. Also, some clothes that are comfy when you have small size are extremly uncomfortable when you have bigger size. As a matter of fact, I think that these designers should be respected for wanting all their clients to look good and trying to match the fashions to the type of body. Everyone is sexy, but not everyone has to be sexy in the same way.
must add, it's not only about looking good. as mentioned above, if you're really busty you're simply not considering wearing a half-bra cup because it just won't do! it's going to look ...funny, and feel extremely uncomfortable, and this is why i like this kind of lingerie but am very aware that's not something for me, being an average body with non-average boob size - end of story.
Load More Replies...OMG!! When will this end?? For Pete's sake, stop inventing problems, just to be offended by them!
You always say that, and I have to wonder why you're here in the first place. Well fitted bras are IMPORTANT.
Load More Replies...I am a short person and I have two cantaloupe size mammary glands . This 'Bralette' thing won't work ! I need support and a lot of it. I also need decent size straps going over the shoulder that do not cut into me. I didn't ask to be this size. It just happened. I think the bras for us 'full bodied' girls are attractive and well designed. Go Rhianna !.
The differences in body language by In Rihanna's lingerie line is also striking. I'm wondering if they couldn't get a more confident plus sized model or did she get instructions to pose like that. About it being comfortable: I don't think this is a type of lingerie that is meant to stay on for very long.
I agree the plus sized model here looks uncomfortable and looks like in the pics like she wouldnt be seen dead in these even for her partner like its Not her rthing totally lets down the images really
Load More Replies...as a fashion designer and pattern maker I have to say that it is very dificult to make a mesh bra in that style for a fuller size, the other comparisons, are different fabrics and cups....
