Ukrainian Artist Removes Makeup From Dolls To Repaint Them, And Result Is Almost Too Real
In the world of unrealistic standards and Photoshop mania, real beauty is a breath of fresh air. And while some share their unedited selfies on Instagram, Olga Kamenetskaya creates gorgeous dolls that look almost real.
Olga is a Ukranian artist who started repainting dolls as a hobby, but it later turned into her profession. She takes mass-produced dolls, such as Monster High girls or Barbies, and turns them into totally new, unique and one-of-the-kind dolls. They each have little "flaws," like real people have, which she includes by not only repainting but also modifying dolls' shapes and working with wigs. “I don’t like when the new face of the doll is ideal and perfectly symmetrical, it makes it lifeless,” Olga told Vogue. “I always deliberately leave some flaw that may not be noticeable to everyone, but [gives] the doll invisible charisma. Perhaps, this flawed beauty is the message that my dolls carry.”
Below you can find some of the amazing "flawed" beauties by Olga Kamenetskaya.

I was gonna say Gabrielle Union too!!! Also, looks like it still has some makeup on...
I love how much more of a realistic eye color she gave this doll. Dark eyes can be stunning, and shouldn't be whitewashed into hazel.
This one has straight hair and smoky eyes. It’s pretty but also not a fair beauty standard.
If not for the doll's neck, you could believe it to be a real person!
speaking from experience, do not apply that sticky lipgloss inside a house full of cats
I like that the Monster High ones are keeping with the theme of the doll, rather than changing them completely.
Gave myself bangs like that once in the mid-80s, when they were decidedly not in style. This is what happens when you attempt to perfect straight bangs in the summer, on a tropical island, on curly hair with paper scissors.
If this evil creeper shows up in my dreams tonight I'll have to quit Bored Panda forever.
The artistic skills are incredible and I was amazed at the amount of detail that went into all the new dolls. Excellent work! However, I find them way too creepy and prefer the original versions more. The creepiness is due to the fact that they're so realistic yet their proportions are off, especially around the eyes. Uggg!
I agree. Most have completely different lips and noses. Some lips are much thinner and some are fuller. Not to mention the different chins and facial shapes. You can't just change plastic that way.

I’m sorry but this is exactly the beauty standard problem. A doll that comes with tons of makeup on exaggerated features and looks like a cartoon human is already a bit of a problem, sending a message that heavy makeup and exaggerated features is the beauty goal. But then the artist even takes away the super heavy makeup and keeps the same perfect tiny noses and plumps up the already enormous lips and keeps the big, almond shaped eyes and has the audacity to call it “flawed,” as if anyone in 2018 thinks plump lips, freckles or foundation-free highlighted skin is a flaw and not an asset. The message used to be: wear makeup to have these features and look perfect. Now the message is: you should be born with these perfect features AND you get to insist that you’re daring and “real” for not wearing makeup even though you have features people use makeup to achieve. You can look down on those people and somehow be applauded for it.
The faces are kostly contour and shading to get the effect. The makeup is repainting the doll. This artistry is amazing. The body dismorphia of the dolls boosies is weird to see.

No doubt she's talented and I'm impressed. However, I'd like to see her redo Chucky so I could be 100% creeped out instead of the 90% i am now.
But that's some awesome talent I mean I CAN BARELY DRAW A STRAIGHT LINE.

I don't know how about You Guys, but I'm a little bit tired of those identical articles on Bored Panda like: "(another) Ukrainian/Russian artist repaints doll and the results are unbelievable", "I quit my job to pant stones/ make photos of cats, horses (or whatever and I'm able to live from that)" or "My friend makes comics about his funny relationship situation/ about his daily life/ or to battle with his depression, anxiety and so on". And please don't get me wrong - I don't wanna say, that this amazing artist isn't talented - her dolls are really amazing, but eh... it's getting be boring a little bit...
Love these! What's the process exactly? The dolls have different hair color . That has to be tedious to accomplish.
I watch some doll repaints and they take of the original paint, pull the dolls head of and pull the hair out from there(its not too hard) then she probably repaints them, then puts a wig on the doll

beautifull it is photorealistic, i am only curious if the real look is also vissible in real, not only in a certain angel on photo. Just as remark , there is an Australian artist that also chanches oversexed dolls, into dolls that are much nicer too look at https://www.etsy.com/nl/shop/TreeChangeDolls#about
I love these!!! I saw a short film about this woman and what she does.

Gorgeous. If I created art like this I would never question what my purpose in life was.
Very good detail. It’s better off on barbies. The face proportions the monster high dolls have is different and makes the realistic style look really ugly and creepy.

I would like them more if she would keep the original character - just repaint it. But very pretty indeed.
I don't think she just erase and repaint the make up. Some of the shape changed, and the hairs too. She does a better job, obvs. Especially on the eyes.
Yeah, she sometimes uses sandpaper and other tools to reshape the faces. She also removes the hair and creates a new wig.

Some of these are just a shade on the creepy side--but such amazing work.
Wow. These are amazing--the eyes especially. She is a talented artist
Vaguely creepy, but very well painted and cool! Sometimes, creepy is cool.
except those aren't even the same dolls those heads are different shapes and the bodies on some of them are clearly different.
