If you spend your days surfing the never-ending Instagram feed, you might've already heard of a freelance illustrator called Isabelle Staub, who rocked the platform with her fresh reimaginings of classic Disney Princesses. What you might not know, though, is that this series also helped the artist to get out of a serious creative block.
“I’ve always loved Disney since I was a child, so I decided to paint the princesses in my own art style for fun,” Isabelle told DesignTaxi. And she really got into it, spending from 8 to 12 hours recreate each image. Almost the whole process is done in the Corel Painter, with only a few last touches done with Photoshop.
"I’m definitely ready to start a new series! Someone requested villains, which I think would be really cool. But I might give the whole Disney theme a rest for a while.”
Right now she's in the first stages of illustrating her own children's book, so keep refreshing her Instagram and Etsy pages for more awesome works.

Pocahontas, Pocahontas
I'm okay with pocahontas because her lips are already luscious to begin with. but yeah, i don't really get the other ones...
Load More Replies...why is it every comment is negative? the artist drew classic Disney princesses in her own style. it's beautiful work. I like the lips.
I agree!! What the heck people?? She did a beautiful job transforming something into what she wanted it to look like!! It's absolutely stunning, whether or not it's accurate. Quit slamming on her for not conforming to your own opinions.
Load More Replies...Right. I don't usually make comments like these, but coming from an artist such as myself, it's sorta pissing me off. "Great sexualized cartoons. Just what the kids needed" uhmm Why? First off, this is the artists style. It's how she draws things. Every artist has their own style. And yea I guess the whole "realistic" thing wasn't really accurate. But they're more realistic than the cartoon(which I believe was the point) c'mon guys, it's how the artists decided to draw these things. They're all amazing and the artist is very talented. If you don't like it, move on. She's not making these drawings for little kids to see. She made them because she was inspired to. It's not like she's telling the world "this is how all women should look" I mean s**t, what about other artists? If you guys saw some of my drawings, they'd look like demented beasts. But that is MY style. I'm not putting my art out there for little kids to see? And I doubt she is either. She's a talented artist. Give her some credit
F*****g hell!!! Everybody asking "whys" why the lips why coverd in oil why they dont look realistic.... first of all its a recriation by the autor's style and a way to unblock inspiration, not photos of living person with princess face. Second the girls are way more cute with volume. So cut the bull s**t enjoy the work and if you still looking for living person style i advise Angelina jolie or emma watson photos;)
Wow jealous much?? Tons of negative comments. It's sad really. All of you rude people are putting down this woman's creative and stunning artwork "what's up with the big fake lips" "to shiny" "to this to that." What's sad about it all is that it's very rare for people to just give out comments anymore and try to lift someone's spirit bc they are so low about themselves that they wanna bring others down with them. I can guarantee 90% of you heartless people couldn't draw more than a stick figure. If more people thought about how they would feel if someone said to them what they say to others they'd probably stop right in their tracks. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world. I can't wait to see what you have in store next!
I find this kind of funny because my name is Isabelle, and recently I’ve started to attempt to draw Disney princesses realistically. I’ve never heard of her until now 😂
Wow jealous much?? Lots of negative comments. Im sure not one of you who are putting this woman's incredible talent down could draw nothing more than a stick figure. I absolutely love this woman's artwork and cannot wait to see what she has in store next.
I don't understand why everyone is pointing out the bad in these pictures, this artist has amazing talent and they made them "shiny" because the human skin has a natural glow, plus I bet the artist was just trying to make it look more 3D other then the originals who look completely flat. Their lips and noses look bigger or slimmer because they were drawn to look more realistic and/or to fit the modern day stereotypes. I think that all of these are amazing and they do infact look like a more realistic and equally gorgeous version of the original princess!
Every artist has their own style. Many different interpretations of characters have come across, even here - https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10155106061608029&id=91841853028 Equally as beautiful. Art should not be judged unless the artists share the same style, yet again, as an artist myself, no one knows what the artist sees except themselves. Give artists a break!
The influence of Angelina Jolie I suspect as the "ideal"......not my prefference
If anything Angie's lips have gotten thinner with age, but they're naturally very large. See 'Girl, Interrupted' and even 'Orginal Sin' --dumb title but amazing film. I'm an artist myself and think that these portraits are awesome, but they're not 'realistic' in looks like everyday women on the street. More realistic than Disney, for sure. I'm a redhead that grew up at the beach and spent every spare minute in the water. I was in high school before I realized how red my hair is because all the salt water, chlorine, and sun bleached and kept my hair a frizzy mess a la Hermione. You'd think she'd have more defined arms and core from all that swimming.
Load More Replies...Its good...but the eyes need to be more flatter on the bottom to give an Amerindian look rather than the fullness that looks like a Japanese anime
Ariel, The Little Mermaid
Can you guys just enjoy the artwork? Its within the artist's right to styalize their work however they like. Its pleasing to the eye and shows talent. Chill
Belle, Beauty And The Beast
The first one doesn't have make up and lip surgery, but the second one looks cool too :D
Esmeralda, The Hunchback Of Notre-dame
Tiana, The Princess And The Frog
Jasmine, Aladdin
Aurora, Sleeping Beauty
I am the artist who did these- I never once said I wanted these to look realistic. I just painted the princesses in my own art style for fun! It's not that serious.
My thoughts exactly. It definitely looks good, though, but a title change would be more beneficial.
Load More Replies...The artwork work is fantastic. However, I think I can identify more with the 2d versions - they actually feel more realistic and not as sexualised with the dolllike botox lips.
i agree with you i think it's less of a realistic look more "hottest trends today! lips are the new butt!" or something...
Load More Replies...This whole "let's redo the princesses!" schlick across the net is getting terribly old. Let's do them as goth! Let's do them as men! Let's do them them as zombies! This one apparently is "let's apply cooking spray to them".
Don't think real women have eyes that take up half of their faces 👀
If the artist him/herself said that this is realistic, they are gravely mistaken and should do more life studies. On the other hand the title of the article is quite misleading. This is a cute personal style that got boring by page 2. because it suffers from Barbie head syndrome.
Go and google up Isabelle_Staub, she is an Illustrator and has Other works besides this, different kinds as well, not all of them look liek this, this is just their rendition/fan art of the disney princesses. Someone else obviously found them all and put them all in this article the one who put this whole thing together never actually credits the person who drew the fan art, instead you have to figure it out for yourself who they are, is a name on some of the pictures, they have an instagram with their work there.
Load More Replies...I hate the lips and they lack the personality in the eyes. Essentially they look vapid.
Yup - with their emphasis on lips and nothing else they remind me of sex dolls.
Load More Replies..."Realistic". I appreciate the re-imagining but rethink your article titles or the artist will just get pummeled in the comments. Not fair to them.
I love how she gave every girl the same Botox lip transformation. Looks alot more "realistic" indeed. Let's give every girl watching those children cartoon this as example for rolemodel. I'm sure that will make them feel happy about their body.
Ah.. I think it is just highlighter. You know, when contouring, you put some highligters too.
Load More Replies...Umh, how about change the title into "Disney princesses repainted to look like instagram Kylie Jenner-wanabees"????
They all look like Bratz dolls to me. Not more realistic, and they have lost some of the individuality the originals had. Though it is impressive work, I don't really like the result.
Bratz arent as sexual, these working girls are oiled up and ready for action
Load More Replies...@Bored Panda: the title is misleading. The artist herself says the purpose "my own art style for fun" – these are surely "brushed up" but if you would transform them into anatomical graphics they would show very disfigured humans with very unnatural proportions. That is fine, for realism obviously was _not_ the aim.
Why are all the comments so negative? Can't you just enjoy and appreciate the work done and the difference in art style without dropping such negative comments? I won't be surprised I'd get flak for this comment😑 Love the different renditions. Looking forward to future artworks!
The negativity of the comments is because the paintings are hideous, he turned them into shiny plastic dolls with bed eyes, stripped the personality right away lol. They make them look all the same souless rubber dolls...
Load More Replies...Just wondering why everybody is hating so much like ? It's art calm down, they're beautiful drawings and whilst not realistic, i still think that the artist in hand should be appreciated and not just slated for a label that somebody else has applied to her work.
Stealing art and making it terrible is not the work of a real artist.
Load More Replies...I like old version a bit more they looked more realistic back then. 3D is more glamorous and doll-like.
I suppose 'pin up' style would be a better way of describing it...
Load More Replies...Why is everyone saying these are rubbish?! They are beautiful and unique in their own way!😘
These were great, lol as i looked at the comments i saw alot of negativity but i love it and im a huge disney fan! Do more i want to see mulan and brave
I think the title is misleading, she just redrew them in her own style, not necessarily 'realistic' . However, people shouldn't s**t on the style, like if her style is oily skin and thick lips that's okay?
The work is excellent, but it's more 3D, not realistic, and... did theyr needed inflated lips?
I would say "more detailed" instead of "realistic". Fantastic work- especially on Tiana's eyebrows. That was about the most realistic part I saw.
It is beautiful. I appreciate her artwork more than the inappropriate title. That's more important, isn't it?
I love this persons art style, though not exactly "more realistic", impressive all the same :o)
Wow, so many people complaining about the look of the Princesses in reference to lip fillers and what not. Relax, you guys; they're just paintings!
Oh my goodness. The full lips is the artist's style, not giving the princesses lip jobs. She most likely draws every person with full lips.
Because it is her style, and the shininess is also her style. It's giving highlights. They're not here just to be realistic.
Load More Replies...These are beautiful! As a fellow artist I know that every negative and rude comment here is out of unimaginative people who are jealous. You are extremely talented! Keep it up and enjoy it. Huge accomplishment being published here. You should be proud.
And you know that how...? The tecnical skillz are ok, but many people dont like them because to be sincere, these renditions are very distasteful. The original versions are full of life and personality, and that artist make all of them to look the same: souless bed eyes, shiny doll like skin, inflated lips. Unimaginative indeed... and impersonal A F ...
Load More Replies...Sooo, he gave them all lip injections and made them all look like they're about to cry?
Guys this is amazing art. When they say "more realistic" they mean straying from the 2D original style of Disney. They don't exactly mean more exact to life (I know that's the definition of realistic but words are always butchered nowadays) So many people have mentioned it so instead of trying to seem intelligent, just appreciate the beautiful artwork. Great job, artist!!!
More detailed.. but I would say less realistic. They lose their expressions and look more like dolls than characters with any personality.
i love this very much, but this isnt really "more realistic" its just a "more detailed cartoon". wonderful artwork though! <3
if she wanted to draw the characters in her style, that's cool. if her style is all that's shown that's ok. But if she was going to "copy" the original artwork she left out some details, like teeth, and dimples.
They all are really good but to me they kind of look like they just got a lip job.....
Realistic is the old drawings... made-up hookers is this new version. Stop insulting thinking peoples intelligence.
This girl is an awesome artist... Would love to see more of her work
You mean thief. You mean more of someone else's work she stole and ruined?
Load More Replies...it shouldn't not say they look more realistic... More sexy yes, but not realistic
Even that I don't agree with lol. Over de top makeup, fake tan and surgery I associate with Jersey shore like people which for me at least is really trashy and a major turn off. It also makes them look like the simple stereotype of a miss universe who knows nothing about anything apart from maybe her make up brand lol.
Load More Replies...i think she has tremendous talent!! i like her paintings better than the original version. it gives the characters more depth and realism. awesome work!!
The world is 3 dimensional. And "realistic" definition is "representing things in a way that is accurate and true to life". So yup, "more realistic" seems fine to me!
I think its great. I actually know a girl that la just like the painted Pocahontas. Worked at the road house with her. These are fantastic.
The world is 3 dimentional. And realistic definition is "to represent things in a way that is accurate and true to life". So yup, "more realistic" seems fine to me!
Hideous, he turned them into shiny plastic dolls with bed eyes, strip the personality right away lol.
The realistic ones all look like they are about to cry, or they are high. The faces are right though, very neat.
The artwork is lovely of course, but what I don't like is that half of them lose their personality from animated still to recreation.
These are really amazing. Half of the hate is because of the title, saying it's not realistic. That's not the artist's fault.
She does these for fun. If she wants to draw like this, then I don't see a problem with that?
Load More Replies...F*****g hell!!! Everybody asking "whys" why the lips why coverd in oil why they dont look realistic.... first of all its a recriation by the autor's style and a way to unblock inspiration, not photos of living person with princess face. F*****g hell. You can't take feedback can you? lol If you are afraid of feedback you should move to another planet and just not talk to people. People are born curious and thus want to ask questions and give opinions on the matter. Same as you just did by saying girls are cute with volume. That is your opinion not a fact. You should accept other peoples opinions like we should do yours even if you don't agree with it. Otherwise you should go live on a planet on your own.
Load More Replies...They all have pretty much the same lips and eyes, not all that unique of a style, really :/
I love all the remakes except Jasmine. I think the original is way prettier <3 Also I have an issue with their lips!! -.- I HATE this trend with Duck-face-lips... It literally looks like they sucked 200 d***s in one night... If girls who wear make up want to find a real boyfriend and not a f**k-boy I would suggest you not to do that! Also there is nothing wrong with small lips! or when the upper lip is smaller than the bottom! It's even cuter that way!
Okey, cool. But I wanna give them a kleenex or something, they all look so swety and moist. Also way too sexualised, lets remember they all suposed to be in their fifthteens and sixteens...
Nowhere did it say more realistic, it says in her unique style, I really like them :)
She made it more realistic by adding the shine on the hair and body and face and made it look like some women today she made it 3d but that was to add on to the realistic look
Why the sleeping beauty look so sad. She should be thinking of joyful things.
THANK YOU for correcting the title of this article, Bored Panda! Much more accurate! *Thumbs up*
Why do most of them look like they've been crying? The original pic shows them as happy, not sad.
Realistic, maybe not ... however, I did like this artist's style of drawing ... I'm pretty sure if they were drawn as anime, there would be characteristics that would feel too nuanced regardless ... different styles of anything must not be everybody's thing ...
so the artist basucally made all of them sweaty and get a lip job?
Reworking someone else's images is not original or worthy of national coverage.
There are very few pictures that I like more than the original. The redraws remind me of barbie dolls.
Love the more realistic look better than the cartoon, however, seems like the lips are overly botoxed!
Lov Aall of them ,to be honesz i like the originals better,, but the realistic ones they cute 💝💖
Yeah, I gotta admit all the original Disney shots express different emotions (pride, curiosityr, amusement, determination, etc), but all the reinterpretations are basically "come hither" looks!
I like the artwork, but these aren't really realistic. They look like models or celebrities after they've been photoshopped.
Am i the inly one who still thunk they look fake. I mean beautiful drawings but still.
They beautiful, but not realistic, maybe after several plastic surgeries
No no no More cartoon like is much more children oriented and I stress its For youngsters - real life comes much later
Everyone got to it before me, but I'd like to throw my hat in with everyone saying they don't look realistic. The re-draws have strangely large lips, and everyone is really made-up and (for some reason) shiny. Can the artist show-off her re-draws? Sure, but don't call them "realistic" because that's just outright untrue.
Eh, dunno about that, also the reason they look a bit simple, trying to animate these "more realistic" versions would be a big pita
they all look like porn stars to me(expect Esmeralda) lol.. I'm sorry.. they're still so beautiful.
They have just been made sluttier. They have now all had plastic surgery, lip fillers, more make up and a seriously seductive and brainless look in their eyes replacing the previously thoughtful, strong and human one.
I'm not sure if they're more realistic. Seems like they just switched from Disney to Pixar...
I like the artwork a lot, really great work ! But i don't mean to hate, I just think they still arent very realistic as girls don't need to have really big eyes, or perfect skin and facial features to be 'pretty'.
Finally, Black Ice-Cream Is A Thing And It Will Match Your Dark Soul looks like s**t with sprinkles
I liked all of them except for aurora. She look so like one of those ugly porcelain dolls. The rest I think are amazing
people keep saying that they look too unrealistic, but where does it say thats what she's going for? This is just her style.
Porntastic!! Love their overly pumped up lips and oiled up skin, reminds of the real dolls.
Disney princesses turned to bimbos that all go to where Kylie Jenner gets her lips done. 😝
My thoughts exactly. It definitely looks good, though, but a title change would be more beneficial.
