If you spend your days surfing the never-ending Instagram feed, you might've already heard of a freelance illustrator called Isabelle Staub, who rocked the platform with her fresh reimaginings of classic Disney Princesses. What you might not know, though, is that this series also helped the artist to get out of a serious creative block.
“I’ve always loved Disney since I was a child, so I decided to paint the princesses in my own art style for fun,” Isabelle told DesignTaxi. And she really got into it, spending from 8 to 12 hours recreate each image. Almost the whole process is done in the Corel Painter, with only a few last touches done with Photoshop.
"I’m definitely ready to start a new series! Someone requested villains, which I think would be really cool. But I might give the whole Disney theme a rest for a while.”
Right now she's in the first stages of illustrating her own children's book, so keep refreshing her Instagram and Etsy pages for more awesome works.

Right. I don't usually make comments like these, but coming from an artist such as myself, it's sorta pissing me off. "Great sexualized cartoons. Just what the kids needed" uhmm Why? First off, this is the artists style. It's how she draws things. Every artist has their own style. And yea I guess the whole "realistic" thing wasn't really accurate. But they're more realistic than the cartoon(which I believe was the point) c'mon guys, it's how the artists decided to draw these things. They're all amazing and the artist is very talented. If you don't like it, move on. She's not making these drawings for little kids to see. She made them because she was inspired to. It's not like she's telling the world "this is how all women should look" I mean s**t, what about other artists? If you guys saw some of my drawings, they'd look like demented beasts. But that is MY style. I'm not putting my art out there for little kids to see? And I doubt she is either. She's a talented artist. Give her some credit

F*****g hell!!! Everybody asking "whys" why the lips why coverd in oil why they dont look realistic.... first of all its a recriation by the autor's style and a way to unblock inspiration, not photos of living person with princess face. Second the girls are way more cute with volume. So cut the bull s**t enjoy the work and if you still looking for living person style i advise Angelina jolie or emma watson photos;)

Wow jealous much?? Tons of negative comments. It's sad really. All of you rude people are putting down this woman's creative and stunning artwork "what's up with the big fake lips" "to shiny" "to this to that." What's sad about it all is that it's very rare for people to just give out comments anymore and try to lift someone's spirit bc they are so low about themselves that they wanna bring others down with them. I can guarantee 90% of you heartless people couldn't draw more than a stick figure. If more people thought about how they would feel if someone said to them what they say to others they'd probably stop right in their tracks. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world. I can't wait to see what you have in store next!

I don't understand why everyone is pointing out the bad in these pictures, this artist has amazing talent and they made them "shiny" because the human skin has a natural glow, plus I bet the artist was just trying to make it look more 3D other then the originals who look completely flat. Their lips and noses look bigger or slimmer because they were drawn to look more realistic and/or to fit the modern day stereotypes. I think that all of these are amazing and they do infact look like a more realistic and equally gorgeous version of the original princess!

Every artist has their own style. Art should not be judged unless the artists share the same style, yet again, as an artist myself, no one knows what the artist sees except themselves. Give artists a break!

If anything Angie's lips have gotten thinner with age, but they're naturally very large. See 'Girl, Interrupted' and even 'Orginal Sin' --dumb title but amazing film. I'm an artist myself and think that these portraits are awesome, but they're not 'realistic' in looks like everyday women on the street. More realistic than Disney, for sure. I'm a redhead that grew up at the beach and spent every spare minute in the water. I was in high school before I realized how red my hair is because all the salt water, chlorine, and sun bleached and kept my hair a frizzy mess a la Hermione. You'd think she'd have more defined arms and core from all that swimming.

I am the artist who did these- I never once said I wanted these to look realistic. I just painted the princesses in my own art style for fun! It's not that serious.

If the artist him/herself said that this is realistic, they are gravely mistaken and should do more life studies. On the other hand the title of the article is quite misleading. This is a cute personal style that got boring by page 2. because it suffers from Barbie head syndrome.

Go and google up Isabelle_Staub, she is an Illustrator and has Other works besides this, different kinds as well, not all of them look liek this, this is just their rendition/fan art of the disney princesses. Someone else obviously found them all and put them all in this article the one who put this whole thing together never actually credits the person who drew the fan art, instead you have to figure it out for yourself who they are, is a name on some of the pictures, they have an instagram with their work there.

@Bored Panda: the title is misleading. The artist herself says the purpose "my own art style for fun" – these are surely "brushed up" but if you would transform them into anatomical graphics they would show very disfigured humans with very unnatural proportions. That is fine, for realism obviously was _not_ the aim.

Guys this is amazing art. When they say "more realistic" they mean straying from the 2D original style of Disney. They don't exactly mean more exact to life (I know that's the definition of realistic but words are always butchered nowadays) So many people have mentioned it so instead of trying to seem intelligent, just appreciate the beautiful artwork. Even that I don't agree with lol. Over de top makeup, fake tan and surgery I associate with Jersey shore like people which for me at least is really trashy and a major turn off. Everyone got to it before me, but I'd like to throw my hat in with everyone saying they don't look realistic. The re-draws have strangely large lips, and everyone is really made-up and (for some reason) shiny. Can the artist show-off her re-draws? Sure, but don't call them "realistic" because that's just outright untrue.

Oh my goodness. The full lips is the artist's style, not giving the princesses lip jobs. She most likely draws every person with full lips.

And you know that how...? The tecnical skillz are ok, but many people dont like them because to be sincere, these renditions are very distasteful. The original versions are full of life and personality, and that artist make all of them to look the same: souless bed eyes, shiny doll like skin, inflated lips. Guys this is amazing art. When they say "more realistic" they mean straying from the 2D original style of Disney. They don't exactly mean more exact to life (I know that's the definition of realistic but words are always butchered nowadays) So many people have mentioned it so instead of trying to seem intelligent, just appreciate the beautiful artwork. Great job, artist!!!

More detailed.. but I would say less realistic. They lose their expressions and look more like dolls than characters with any personality.

if she wanted to draw the characters in her style, that's cool. if her style is all that's shown that's ok. But if she was going to "copy" the original artwork she left out some details, like teeth, and dimples.

Even that I don't agree with lol. Over de top makeup, fake tan and surgery I associate with Jersey shore like people which for me at least is really trashy and a major turn off. It also makes them look like the simple stereotype of a miss universe who knows nothing about anything apart from maybe her make up brand lol.

The world is 3 dimensional. And "realistic" definition is "representing things in a way that is accurate and true to life". So yup, "more realistic" seems fine to me!

F*****g hell!!! Everybody asking "whys" why the lips why coverd in oil why they dont look realistic.... first of all its a recriation by the autor's style and a way to unblock inspiration, not photos of living person with princess face. Second the girls are way more cute with volume. So cut the bull s**t enjoy the work and if you still looking for living person style i advise Angelina jolie or emma watson photos;)

F*****g hell. You can't take feedback can you? lol If you are afraid of feedback you should move to another planet and just not talk to people. People are born curious and thus want to ask questions and give opinions on the matter. Same as you just did by saying girls are cute with volume. That is your opinion not a fact. You should accept other peoples opinions like we should do yours even if you don't agree with it. Otherwise you should go live on a planet on your own.

I love all the remakes except Jasmine. I think the original is way prettier <3 Also I have an issue with their lips!! -.- I HATE this trend with Duck-face-lips... It literally looks like they sucked 200 d***s in one night... If girls who wear make up want to find a real boyfriend and not a f**k-boy I would suggest you not to do that! Also there is nothing wrong with small lips! or when the upper lip is smaller than the bottom! It's even cuter that way!

She made it more realistic by adding the shine on the hair and body and face and made it look like some women today she made it 3d but that was to add on to the realistic look

Realistic, maybe not ... however, I did like this artist's style of drawing ... I'm pretty sure if they were drawn as anime, there would be characteristics that would feel too nuanced regardless ... different styles of anything must not be everybody's thing ...

Yeah, I gotta admit all the original Disney shots express different emotions (pride, curiosityr, amusement, determination, etc), but all the reinterpretations are basically "come hither" looks!

Everyone got to it before me, but I'd like to throw my hat in with everyone saying they don't look realistic. The re-draws have strangely large lips, and everyone is really made-up and (for some reason) shiny. Can the artist show-off her re-draws? Sure, but don't call them "realistic" because that's just outright untrue.

They have just been made sluttier. They have now all had plastic surgery, lip fillers, more make up and a seriously seductive and brainless look in their eyes replacing the previously thoughtful, strong and human one.

I like the artwork a lot, really great work ! But i don't mean to hate, I just think they still arent very realistic as girls don't need to have really big eyes, or perfect skin and facial features to be 'pretty'.
