On paper, 15-year-old Riley Hansen is living every teen’s worst nightmare. He’s trapped in school. But in reality, Riley has it pretty good.
His family renovated a former elementary school and have transformed the building into a spacious yet cozy home.
Riley’s TikTok account was initially dedicated to videos of his car and learning how to drive but when Hansen posted a video tour of his unique living situation it immediately blew up.

While Hansen toured the bedrooms in one TikTok, he explained that his family uses classrooms as bedrooms and multiple people sleep in each room.
It’s unknown how many people live in the school, but Hansen said in the following video that there are only five bedrooms, and no one has their own room.
“My family has always wanted to give back where we can and help as many people as possible. So we bought our school so we could get as many foster kids as possible,” Hansen told Bored Panda.
“Living in a school is great and it has its ups and downs, but in the end, it is definitely worth the sacrifice.”
The exterior of the building and its hallways look like a typical school but if you take a closer look, you will notice all the details the family has worked on since moving in four years ago.
“The building is extremely large so it’s very open and you never feel claustrophobic,” Hansen explained. “Also, it’s a black canvas so we have been able to turn it into our dream home.

Hansen also shared some very unique features of his school home, for example, its original playground, outdoor basketball court, and indoor pool. Hansen said in one video that the pool is an outdoor pool they set up inside.
Another cool feature of his home is the long, flat rooftop, where Hansen and his family string up lights and hang out in the summers. He said that eventually, his family wants to build greenhouses up there.
The premises also have a playground
And an outdoor basketball court which is now used for parking
The family plans to keep fixing the rooms as time goes, making each one a bit different with its own unique style

My husband's first comment: "What does it cost to heat and cool that thing?"
I feel like it was a good deal. Old building. I feel like if they had loads of money they may have made some aesthetic upgrades
