“Our Super Adventure comics probably take around an hour to pencil, another hour to ink and then around the same amount of time for colouring!” the artist says. “My fiancé Stef (co-star and co-writer of the comics!) helps by doing the flat colours and the lettering in the comics too, that's probably about an hour per comic as well? Let's say around four hours total.”
We wondered if Sarah has any unusual techniques or quirks while creating. She said: “for Our Super Adventure, I'm usually noting down little ideas quickly when they happen! Because the comics are autobiographical, I'm constantly reaching for the nearest sketchbook to write something down so I don't forget it! I end up with little collections of tiny scrappy versions of the comics which are always fun to look back on.
One unusual technique I have is that I like to sketch out the pencils for my comics on my Cintiq (a big desk-mounted drawing tablet) but I like to do my final inked artwork on an iPad instead!”
As for dealing with creative blocks, Sarah says: “Luckily with Our Super Adventure being about my real life with Stef and our four cats, there's always something going on in our house! I get a lot of inspiration from them all - it's rarely boring with four cats! They're constantly changing allegiances and causing drama!
In terms of creative block, I think the best thing to do when that happens is to jump into experiencing art made by other people! Reading comics, watching movies and TV shows or playing video games - all of these things can be really inspiring and you never know what will start to excite your creative brain again. Also - going for a big walk is also a super nice thing to do to clear your head!”
SO TRUE (if you start petting one cat for too long, another one comes and starts staring jealously); this needs to be higher
When asked about future plans, the talented artist told us: “I love making comics and putting out books - we definitely want to make a fourth Our Super Adventure collection in the next year or so! Apart from that, we've always got secret projects on the go! We do a lot of comics with publishers and we usually can't talk about them until they're officially announced!”
yea its barely September and my Walmart already has Christmas trees set up
That’s my dad every time my dad does something like that (or me) i’am like 🤪 and the I just psychoticly laugh it off
I also have a longhaired black cat, he prefers to sunbathe. Though I guess the temperatures are different, Sweden is sometimes too warm for me in summer, but I know that it's nothing compared to further south.
These are so adorable! I miss having a partner (he died) and 4 cats (down to 2).
POV: you’re reading through these after being rejected for the fourth time (although he didn’t technically reject me-)
Aww, I hope you feel better soon! Hugs for you!
Load More Replies...The thing is, 8 out of 10 of their comics aren't funny at all. Yeah, cute art style and all but the puns are "blowing air out of your nose" funny at best.
