God is not homophobic, He does not hate people, but having sex is a sin unless it is with a person who is of the opposite sex and married to you, while not willingly making procreation impossible. So, same-sex intercourse is a sin, but so is sex out of wedlock, or using contraception... Everybody sins, it does not automatically make anyone an intrinsically bad person, and homosexuals have to suffer more temptation and stigma than other people, so the Catholic Church teaches they need to be accepted and loved just like everyone else because being gay is not a sin (doing gay sex is) and they already suffer enough anyway.

Ryan, maybe you should look into the history of the popes. They do that stuff all of the time. They have had to change their "infallible" minds on lots of issues. The catholic church used to imprison, torture, and kill people for saying the sun is center of our planetary system. They used to say street lamp lights are a sin because they are unnatural, and god provided the sun for us. Silly, silly stuff.

It's a hard row to hoe: can't remember his name but the dude that Henry VIII forced into doing the whole church of England schism thing had to do it or die, then his daughter Mary slaughters him later on for his heresy. If he starts telling them all at once everything is wrong that they do who's to say they wouldn't interpret it as a demonic activity interfering to pervert their religion? Peace may not be able to be achieved in one lifetime, but if we don't work actively towards it then how will it ever happen? Dorothy, can you please provide some citations? Some legitimate sources of information? Do you have a long list of names of predator priests in prison right now because of the pope's actions? If the list isn't long, then this pope is still just doing what all popes do, covering it up.
