If you've ever owned a car, chances are you had to change the tires at least once, leaving you with a dilemma as to what to do with old tires. Thankfully, the times of burning used tires in your yard are long forgotten, and if there's no tire recycling facility near you, these DIY projects can help you to give them a second life.
We have put a list of tire upcycling ideas for your inspiration. Sure, you'll find the good old tire swing here, but also some unexpected chairs, steps, dog bed, and garden decoration ideas.
Research indicates that tires will slowly leach toxic chemicals into the surrounding environment, but many of these studies describe long-term effects when exposed to the elements. It's probably a good idea to refrain from using them to plant edible plants, but many other applications should be OK, especially if they will be covered in some way or won't be touched too often.

It is stated not to use them as planters for edible plants. Then why would one muse them for a dog bed. The dog could Che's on them and the toxic fumes would be right next to the dog.

You're only issue I have with these are that ties tend to carry a strong odor not conducive to being indoors.

Just a question....I find that tires have a strong smell to them. I dont see issues with outside, but how are they indoors? Some are so cute!

Much like the particle board furniture bought and sold at disc stores...you want to seal the rubber with a polybased seal.

They all look great when they are new but some , like the swans lose their shape in the weather and look like a dump.

The tire idea is very creative and thoughtful, but some of them if you use common sense i think any smart person could realize some of them aren't always safe or they are just useless.
