    Despite being a Tolkien fan since age 10 - about the time the book arrived in this country - I still enjoyed the movies. But I'm rereading it now, and the book has so much more depth and complexity.

    Always, the book is always better. Hollywood-type producers/screenwriters/directors/studio execs too often ruin the author's story in the filmmaking process. Too many hands in the cookie jar!
