Actually the main reason why Jesus looks different in every region(in China, the Nestorians drew Jesus like a Chinese Elder/philosopher, in Africa there are many black depiction, Scandanavia Nordic depiction) is because Christian missionaries wanted to make Jesus as relatable as possible for their completely different cultures and artists just used models in the local region. Under Charles Martel, they even composed a Saxon version of the Gospels that made Jesus into a sort of Saxon tribal chief called "The Heliand".

I think you are right, it's quite a big article to Christian faith that Jesus came as one of us, so it's quite natural that people all around globe portray him as one of their culture. Including Europeans portaying him as a white. But now we have a global society with people of many colours and we should learn how to include all of them and not to push whiteness on everyone, hence the historically accurate depictions as person of colour are great.

Also the fact that all records of Jesus are just stories that were recorded generations later, then some were considered canon and others were said to not be Canon. Just look up the noncanonized stories of Jesus and you will find stories that are even more unbelievable than talking snakes and a woman turning into a block of salt.

I was actually shocked and proud of the artist and thought the same as you! It is nice to see open minded people but no one should be shitting on you for expressing a guess of other peoples opinions. I actually know racist Christian's in the states in the south and even some in the midwest. Maybe they're is some that might do disagree and just isn't going to comment because you have to make a profile before you can comment and a lot of people won't put in the three minutes it takes to make a profile.

If someone is racist, then they shouldn't consider themself a Christian. If someone is racist and still considers themself a Christian then that just misrepresents what a Christian is.

I mean true, but being a Christian doesn't mean that you aren't a bad person. (Im catholic) Christians can divert different beliefs from the church and still call themself Christian. For example, I'm gay. I don't believe that I'm abnormal or all that homophobic stuff. Yet I still call myself a Christian. One isn't exclusive of the other.

According to the Bible, homosexuality is a sin. I am NOT hating you though! Please don't mistake what I am saying as hate. I agree we all have different beliefs. Some people choose to believe in some things, and others don't, which is totally normal and I don't understand why people have a problem with others having different opinions or beliefs. Just like how you believe being gay is okay, and I don't really. You being gay doesn't mean I have to hate you (which I don't hate you). Just so frustrating that people don't understand how people can have different opinions or views. No hate:)

In literal translation Leviticus 18:22 actually says "And with a male you shall not lie a woman’s bed.” The original text is almost entirely untranslatable. Even in the translation offers above the word "lie" has been added to replace the more literal translation "layings" which makes even less sense. What we have in the various translations of the Bible is interpretation by fallible translators not a clear message. All the other prohibitions in the same section are related to incest and so we can be reasonably sure 18:22 is a prohibition on some kind of incestuous act. The use of "homosexuality" in translation is a much later addition and nowhere in the original text. Bear in mind that Leviticus also prohibits just as strongly wearing clothes made if more than one type of material and planting more than one kind of seed in the same plot of land. No modern clothes, no modern farming. Do you really believe these rules were meant for modern Christians?

Ah, now, if you were actually a CHRISTIAN as opposed to an apostate, you'd know that the New Covenant of Grace, which was sealed by Christ's blood on the cross, brought Hebraic law to fulfilment. As of that moment, the laws of the Old Testament were completed, and we go on to live purely under Christ.

Hey Jacqueline, looks like your kind of coming under fire over all this. I would say talk to your trained religious representative in your organization/church. The one that went to college to be a pastor/priest/etc. If they haven't been to college, that'd be a red flag. If they have, they've most likely heavily talked about Leviticus 18:22 and it's possible mistranslations (as well as other mistranslations).

A Christian is anyone who believes in Christ. You can't just cherrypick who's "actually" part of your demographic and claim that anyone you dislike is a fraud. Christians can be bad people.

Of course, Christians can be bad people! I agree! However, we are not called to be that way. We are supposed to be the best we can be and to follow God's word. But NOBODY is perfect. I'm definitely not perfect, but I work on being the best I can on according to what He says is right and wrong.

Hey, I am a Christian and 100% the LGBTQ community. It is fakes who claim to be Christians who show the hate. Christians all over the world are getting a bad rap because of people who claim to be Christian and then act horribly. I am so sorry to anyone who Christians on here have affected. We are not all like that, and the most important thing that the Bible says is love one another
