40 Genius People Who Found A Way To Protect Their Christmas Trees From Asshole Cats And Dogs
What would Christmas be without the beloved and highly ornate Evergreen tree? Without it, where would Santa leave his presents? Keeping your Christmas decorations safe and sound until the gifts come is an easy task if you live in a pet-less household, but if you're an owner to an evil cat named Mr. Mittens or a funny dog named Scruffy, it might become a mission impossible.
From your point of view, the Christmas tree is almost sacred - you've spent at least a couple of hours searching for the perfect ornaments, then a couple more decorating it and a couple more admiring the final result. From your pets point of view, you've just set up a fantastic scratching post, high-jump training area or a snack bar, depending on the given critters taste. Anyways, what follows next is a destroyed tree lying on the floor with broken Christmas tree decorations all over the place with a culprit of it all being the funny cat, revenging on you naming him Mr. Mittens. The good news is that with simple hacks shown in the pictures below, it's no longer necessary for you to choose between having a pet OR having a fabulous Christmas tree.
Now go ahead and check our collection of ideas on cat-proof Christmas trees!

Load More Replies...Did not work for us, with a puppy and a kitten. We didn't even get too the point of adding lights and ornaments...they managed to dismantle the tree (it was artificial). I did enjoy watching them tho.
funny, i'm worried about water stains on the cabinet! haha... i hope its a fake
If you look at the foot of the tree with the wedge shaped leg, you will see there is a pretty narrow tube or you can zoom in on your monitor and you will see that your HOPE came true because that tree is definitely fake! Merry Ha-Ha
Load More Replies...My cats don't really care about the tree, guess I'm lucky :P Did find an ornament or 2 whacked out of the tree last year. And this year one cat was very interested in the new plastic snowflakes for about 5 min :P I even got bird and butterfly ornaments and they don't even look at them.
Same here. He likes to lay under it tho. With the previous cat I tied the tree to a bookshelf after the third time of putting it back up.
Load More Replies...My cats didn't care for the christmas tree. I found one of my cats 1 time on the branch, he was scolded and it never happened again for 17 years. The only thing we could not put out was "lameta" - thin metail foil cut into long shreds, popular in Poland instead of chains. The cats considered it as grass-type of food, which could have ended in tragedy as it could cut their insides. But we knew better, never put it up while kitties were living. So all in all I consider myself lucky - my pets weren't asshats and I could have a wonderful huge christmas tree :)
yes they are... parents jus ruined theirs christmas... they want to eat ornaments and push the tree like every year... but still, they are really cute <3 love pets
Load More Replies...I think they just want to know what's going on, it's not every day these poor baby's see lights of all color and a tree right in the middle of their house so please cut them some slack ok be nice an loving them PS stop with the name calling.
The animals are not a-holes; thinking they shouldn't want to play with shiny, exciting things that only show up once a year is a-hole thinking...
There are no "a*****e" cats and dogs and xmas trees are silly. Don't have one -enjoy your pet instead.
It isn't the animals that are a******s, its the people that think they are.....I'll take a dog, MAYBE even a cat almost any day of the week over 75% of the people I've known in this world. And the 25% I do like, have a dog or at least a cat.
I have 4 cats....none bother the tree much...aside from a couple ornaments at the bottom batted off....which I only put unbreakable ornaments at the very bottom for this reason!!! They love to lay under it tho!! Contrary to popular belief....cats are actually trainable!!!
I have never understood the need to refer to animal as an a*****e. It's just weird.
Just a thought - Trees normally grow outside where cats like to climb them, and small shrubs growing outside get 'befriended' dogs and cats alike. So when there is a tree inside the house, then it is 'normal behaviour' for cats and dogs interfere (for want of a better word) with the said tree. As I said, just a logical thought.
So nice. The most funny thing was seeing facial expressions of cats. Like they are thinking what has been done with them.
My cat just looks at the tree, doesen't care at all. Never ruins anything :)
After putting up and decorating our Christmas tree a couple years ago our kittens were climbing it, knocking it over, and chewing the lights and decorations... I took a photo of the tree with the lights on at night and during the day, printed it out, and stuck it to the wall where the tree usually is. We put our presents under the pictures of the tree that year.
I think my cats are developmentally delayed - they seem to have zero interest in the holiday tree and decorations.
I like the one with that says Ferret Proof. For those that have had ferrets... There is no such thing as ferret proof.
oh my. I just got a cat this summer. Didn't even consider the whole christmas tree thing. This will be interesting x'D
I just wired the ornaments into the tree. Makes decorating a snap! Basically I just set up the and fluff the bows.
I was pulling out ornaments today and seen tiny puppy chews on my daughter first year Christmas ornament she "made" w grandma, along w his first puppy paw ornament I made his last year. It made me smile- unlike the stairs and the window trim that he chewed up o.0 Puppies lol
I know people who have two trees. The one with fancy stuff is in the parlor, which has windowed doors that lock, and pets and small children are not allowed in there unsupervised, even on normal days, but in the family/living room, they have one with very pet and child safe decorations (no tinsel, many ornaments are re-purposed cat and dog toys). I really like #90, the idea of the wooden planks, and using the cards as "ornaments".
My cats are far too lazy to destroy our home, or a tree. We also give them toys (which they don't bother with) in an attempt to distract them from the tree, in case.
I love all the attempts at foiling their pets at destroying their Christmas trees, but seriously, none would work at my house except the ones hanging upside down from the ceiling. I have not had a Tree in my house since 1996, when I got my first cat as an adult and he destroyed everything that glittered and glowed! I don't really mind tho. If I have the need for xmas cheer, I can always go around to friends and relatives houses and I have no mess to clean up after the holidays are over!
Our cats tipped over the tree three times one year!! They just couldn't leave it alone. They won we don't have a tree! Thank goodness we have an adult daughter and not small children who wouldn't understand and would require us to figure something out in order to have a tree! LOL!
he only a*****e in any situation involving a non-human is the a*****e human who calls a cat or dog an a*****e.I would never be friends with anyone who calls innocent beings such vile names let alone trust them around any non-human
