They say that a good present is a practical one. So when Dianna Wood’s birthday came along, her husband knew exactly what to get her. A pressure washer. Dianna had been thinking about it ever since the very first time she used one to help a girlfriend get her mom’s house ready to sell.

For over a month, she had power washed everything she could, including the patio, the fence, the siding on the shop, several dirty shutters, and even the garbage cans. When it was time to tackle the biggest challenge, the driveway, she realized how long it would take and decided to go even further, turning it into an art project.

Dianna was born and raised in Northern California and after retiring from over 36 years of working in an office moved to Burlington, North Carolina a little over two years ago. “I have done crazy art things since I was probably 5 years old,” she told Bored Panda. “No professional art training, though.”

At first, Dianna pressure washed some encouraging words like “love” onto the concrete. However, that wasn’t enough for her. She then wanted to create something more intricate and began covering the path with motifs from the natural world.

“As pleased as I was with the upper driveway ‘word art’, I was inspired to see what else I could do with this wonderful new toy,” Dianna wrote. “Although I am still learning techniques and am not completely satisfied with the results, I guess one could say, ‘This is just what might happen when a husband gets an artist a power washer for her birthday!'”

They do this in the UK as street advertising, apparently it's not graffiti because you're just cleaning the pavement

Wow, that's amazing. Now she should buy some concrete sealer to preserve the images.

Not only is that very impressive, but it is also quite a long driveway.

Are you shittin' me? This is first try and wasn't pre-planned? That's incredible. She should figure out a way to do this with some sort of acid etching or something to make it permanent. People would pay good money for something like this if it lasted.

A beautiful achievement . My favourite is the butterflies. I bet she’ll have all the neighbours out, asking for their driveways to be done . I know I would . !!!!!

Hi Irina - It will fade over time. You will still be able to see it even after a year. And I can always go right back over all the images with the power washer using the same technique to freshen up the clean. The dirtier the rest of the driveway gets, the more the clean images will pop. Hope that makes sense.

Wow! I never imagined that level of art would even be possible with a pressure washer. That's some wonderful talent she has.
