They say not to count your chickens before they hatch. ‘Cause by doing so, you raise the chances for an instant loss of karma, dignity, and self-confidence, like, triple.
If you've ever been near the finish line raising your arms high in the sky, only to feel a cold wave of wind passing through while you enjoy the moment of not-earned victory, you need no further explanation. And if you are one of the lucky ones who hasn’t had their fair share of premature celebration-turned nightmare, please stay that way and keep on scrolling to see what not to do to become one of many.
Thanks to the subreddit r/Prematurecelebration, we now have the full-on archive of cringey glory that is a product of people celebrating just a microscopic little bit too early. So you'd better get ready to crack up big time.

Random Selection
It's kinda sad if you're singeld out because you are associated by your appareance with people who want to harm others.
That wouldn't be so bad, as people from pretty much every creed have done something terrible, but it seems to only happen if you are brown and/or Muslim.
Load More Replies...This is so sad. I was singled out in France on a flight to Germany while on a highschool trip (2005). I was the only brown person in the group and the person searching me was very...thorough. I was mortified. I can only imagine how humiliated this guy feels every time he gets on a plane. I felt an odd sense of vindication when the terrorists who stormed the capitol were barred from flying and they started sobbing and yelling about how unfair it was. Welcome to life on the other side.... and I’ve never been involved in an attempted coup.
That's very sad, I'm sorry iy happened to you. I'm sorry it's happening at all!!
Load More Replies...Some of us have to actually plan for this "random selection" and go to the airport an extra couple of hours early.
I'm of mixed ethnicities, but got all the "pale-arsed" genes (pale-to-the-point-of-transparent skin, freckles, darky auburn hair, grey-blue eyes), and I'm the palest one of my various-hued friends. To watch them anticipate such an experience, on a consistent basis, is heartbreaking and maddening. I do love being the 'ally' though, and making the bigots oh so very uncomfortable, by refusing to leave my friend(s) in these circumstances..... watching the bigots absolute discomfort is always entertaining. Just wish it wasn't necessary. :( <3
My boyfriend does this with me and I love it because I hadn’t been standing up for myself at all. Every time he makes them feel stupid. It doesn’t even matter if your board first class. They pull this no matter WHAT!
Load More Replies...Collecting him once he’s boarded the plane is f’d up on a whole different level. I’m estimating at minimum an hour passed between the time he left the security checkpoint and he boarded the plane. That was more than enough time for security to approach him. I get the sick feeling that an Islamophobic Karen saw him board her flight and called security, quite possibly making false accusations.
I don't remember a time when I wasn't "randomly" selected. My husband thinks it is funny .LOL I am 64 now.
:DD same here. I don't even pick up my carry on right after security check anymore since I always. get "randomly" selected for TSA bomb swab test& they ask me to stay away while they are doing it.
Load More Replies...Not the same, but as a child I had my bag searched EVERY time. Apparently if you’re in a family unit then adults hide things in the young daughter’s bag to avoid it being found. Every time we went though baggage scan I knew it was coming. Only stopped when I reached teenage years
I was a Mom Fail after I brought my son to the airport for our flight wearing cargo pants with many zippers... He's was only 10 & they checked every single piece of our luggage and everyone got a full pat-down... took forever, but we couldn't help but giggle at my obvious Mom Fail! Even the security people were giggling after a while. XD
When I first saw this, couldn't find a reason? for his comment and sort of felt sorry for him standing there all alone. Then I read all or most of the messages further on. I had no idea that that sort of stuff is just being accepted as par for the course? I hereby wish to show my sympathy for our/all stupidity
No worries, I’m an old white woman and get selected every single time as well.
Says a lot about human nature, but at this poor guy's expense. That must be a feeling that too many people will never get to experience...
I always get "randomly selected" God knows why, I'm the average elderly woman.
Dude doesn't look like he poses any threat to me. Looks like a normal person...
Hi, my name is Anne. I am a middle aged white female. I am way ahead of Ahmed because I ALWAYS get randomly selected.
Um... sounds like you are tied. Am I missing something?
Load More Replies...They had to pick you to balance all the old white grannies they seem to pick on so frequently. Get over yourself.
I’m a great granny in my 70s and do a lot of world travelling. Leaving Melbourne airport after visiting for Commonwealth games in 2006....and was given the once over good and proper. Turns out, there had been two grannies caught that day for drug running. Now, 90% of my travels, mean I get a full pat down, waistbands, bras, soles of feet, between toes. I could be annoyed, but if it means that security are doing their job and everyone is safe, that’s all that matters. I now score my ‘screening’ out of ten.
Load More Replies...I always get randomly selected in Australian airports. I'm an old white woman. My theory is that they pick me because they need to meet a quota of numbers checked and think I won't make a fuss.
My sister’s very white step-grandmother always gets singled out whenever she flies, even before 9/11. Apparently little old white ladies are a huge threat to aviation.
This happens to my grandma xD She was taking me to the airport one time and had to go through security to get to the seating area/food area etc. She wasn't going on the plane. Didn't have luggage (just her handbag) and is one of the friendliest looking (and friendliest in general) person I know. But yet she's always 'randomly' selected. She's welsh if that makes any difference, but she just looks like any other person here. She says they always make her take off her shoes O_o which is a pain for her of course because she needs to find a place to sit down and take em off, then try and put them back on again. IDK what it is about her shoes tho... they're just normal flats (open top ones? idk what they're called) or sneakers.
Load More Replies...Because white people are always blowing themselves up in the name of jesus right? Lol. No
No they just kill inocents in mass shootings. But as they are white they arent branded as terrorists.
Load More Replies...I hope he knows his Twitter name translates to 'oh s**t" in Spanish lol
Funny, that's what Germans said about the Nazis. Learn your history and be a better human.
Load More Replies...Once is fine. But every time he flies? Prejudice
Load More Replies...Because it's the same as shooting only black men in the back. That's what Security Prejudice creates.
Load More Replies...To find out more about the community behind the r/Prematurecelebration subreddit, Bored Panda reached out to one of its moderators, u/N8theGr8, who was happy to share some insights.
The mod told us that the subreddit was created by u/potato88, who’s now a suspended user, back in 2013. Some time ago, though, the subreddit had no moderators, so the admins gave it to the current mod team, u/N8theGr8 said.
But since the subreddit revolves around a “kind of niche topic,” it’s not as active as it could be. “But we have half a million subscribers and it stays relatively active,” they added. Right now, the subreddit has 525k members in total and their community is still growing.

Good Idea To Straight Up Tell Everyone That You're Scamming A Company
When asked about the whole concept of premature celebration that the subreddit as all about, the moderator explained that it “just means celebrating some kind of win or victory before you really should.”
“Like a guy who runs a race and then slows down right at the end to do a victory jump and throw his arms in the air, only to be passed by the 2nd-place guy who then wins the race. Or 'Dewey Defeats Truman' newspaper held up by President Truman.”

Self Explanatory
I really wish there had been some explanation on the sports ones. Not all of us are in the USA and following US sports competitions.
I just saw rollerblading and Toronto Blue Jays. I don’t know where rollerblading is popular, but I would be surprised to learn that Toronto is in the USA🤷
Load More Replies...Sooo many people breaking the law and telling the world how "smart" they are. Sigh......
Something cringeworthy makes you cringe. "Cringey" is not a word. Honestly.
QAnon should be added to this. The weeping "what just happened?" looks on the faces of these slobbering idiots the moment Biden got sworn in was priceless.
I'm not into sports at all but I got the sports ones and still find them funny. Most of these are self explanatory, for example its obvious "the fourth" meant the game was still going. I don't need to follow American football to figure that out. As for the gaming ones, lots of people provided context to them. Just because you don't like sports and games doesn't mean the compilation was bad.
