I Decided To Do Something That Would Get Me Away From The Computer, So I Started Making Driftwood Portraits (8 Pics)
I'm an author and programmer. This summer I decided to do something that would get me away from the computer and out of the office. Our local beach is covered in driftwood. Every piece contains a history in its contours. Combining them tells a unique and secret story. The character in these portraits arises from the aggregate of the experiences of each of the pieces they are made from. Can you see their stories?
They are all around 20" x 18" x 10" (about twice the size of a human face) and hang on the wall.

They look really detailed and it seems you put a lot of hard work into it. At least you got away from your computer! (...unlike me)
Definitely good to check but luckily it's allowed where I live. No laws broken in the creation of these portraits ;)
I am a biologist and work with driftwood too, but i like to create houses with a beach theme.
incredible !! i live 10 mins from the beach in Toronto and there is heaps of driftwood. i am so going to attempt this - keyword: attempt ;) thanks, fellow Canadian ! btw, stay tuned for my #nailedit post 8)
Incredible talent, each one was unique, I kept looking, over and over, so impressed with the creative work !!!
Is there something special in your life, that helped to develop your tremendous creative mind ???
I'm inspired to do this.. where do you find the best driftwood pieces? I don't live near water. Thanks!
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but you may want to check your local laws. Collecting driftwood is illegal in a lot of places. I do think your creations are amazing though. I wouldn't have the patience.
