Ever since I came across a photo of a baby hedgehog on Google 8 years ago, I have fallen in love with hedgehogs. But it wasn't until January this year that I was finally able to have my own. I found Pokey online and was immediately attracted to his cute sleeping face in the photo. I contacted the previous owner right away and without a single doubt decided that he was going to be my first hedgehog.
In the beginning... his quills would always be up, he refuses my strokes, he'd bit me all the time, he'd run away from me and it seems that he prefers if I just leave him alone actually. Now, it's been 5 months since I had Pokey. He's still a grump these days, but his quills rarely go up. He hissed but he doesn't refuse when I stroke his forehead. He's grumpy but he always accepts cuddles or nose kisses.
Pokey made my 8 years dream come true! I am so happy having him and I've been taking photos and videos non-stop for the last 5 months. I really want to share these photos and hopefully just like when I fell in love with hedgehog through a photo online 8 years ago, other people would fall in love with hedgehog through Pokey's photo this time!

Very cute but I hope this won't create a new "trend" and make people run outside and try to capture a wild hedgehog.
Also it leads to "mass production" of hedgehogs. Breed as many as possible just to sell it for profit. Which often leads to terrible treatment of the animals. Hedgehogs are NOT pets. Please stop this trend. https://www.google.no/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/environment/shortcuts/2014/jun/10/prickly-issue-african-pygmy-hedgehog-pets-european-hedgehog-wildlife-conservation
Load More Replies...I love these! I recently found the most adorable and uplifting pic of a hedge hog online and since I have become fascinated by the little guys. I bought a stuffed hedge hog pet that I take with me to chemotherapy and he entertains the nursing staff...it's pretty awesome. I'll attach a pic of me and Percy (his full name is Sir Percival the Hedgeless, but I just call him Percy). Thanks for sharing your pics! Me-and-Per...7be003.jpg
Oh, it should be noted that Percy recently became a surf punk...well, OK, I started it by gluing a mohawk on his head (can't see it in the pic, sadly) but he found the belt for around his neck and the t-shirt...
