New PS5 Game ‘Stray’ Lets You Be A Cat In A Neon-Lit Cybercity And Solve Mysteries In It
Hey, all you cool cats and kittens! PlayStation 5 has a real pawsome treat for you. On Thursday, the company announced the launch of a new adventure video game called “Stray” developed by Blue Twelve Studio. And the trailer got everyone meowing.
Previously titled HK_Project, the game allows you to play as a little stray cat lost in a strange and decaying cybercity full of robots. “RIP Humans” spray paint in an alley suggests that humans have gone extinct, and the kitty with a tiny backpack is in charge of solving all the mysteries. The creative director Viv commented: “exploring the strange world we are building feels really fresh when you’re sneaking under a car, or walking the rooftops with the inhabitants below unaware of your presence.” Alternatively, “you can just meow endlessly to annoy them.”
Let’s take a look at the stunning trailer down below and after you’re done, don’t forget to check out our previous post on PS5 console design that people are comparing with a Wi-Fi router and a medieval helmet.

The dystopian city is said to have been inspired by Kowloon Walled City, an ungoverned, densely populated settlement in Kowloon City, Hong Kong.
The creative director of Blue Twelve Studio recounted in a PlayStation blog that initially, the Kowloon Walled City kept coming up in the team’s discussions. After realizing it was a perfect base for their universe, it came to them that: “What a better playground than Kowloon for… a cat!”

Since then, the challenge was to create a unique experience of playing as a cat. Blue Twelve Studio’s director, who worked closely with the studio’s co-founder Koola, said that they were inspired by their two cats Murtaugh and Riggs. “Cats are always so playful, cute, and lovingly annoying that it’s an endless stream of gameplay ideas for us.”
“Stray” is currently still in development and is set to be released in 2021.

Share on FacebookI think it looks beautiful, but this seems like a cinematic representation just like a lot of game trailers. Then the real gameplay comes out and looks nothing like the first trailer. I really hope they do an amazing job on this, but from experience I'm going to keep my expectations low. (I mean bloody hell, just look at the original trailer for ghostwire and then the gameplay. Such a pity)
Yeah but I’ve done Annapurna games before and they’re so beautiful and heartwarming
Load More Replies...Do you win the game by getting the kitty into an animal shelter, where he is adopted into a loving home and lives the rest of his life pampered and spoiled? That’s how my three cats finished their “stray cat” game.
I wonder who won the "Stray cat" game in the case of your cats. Them or you? Or is this a double win?
Load More Replies...And what's your point? Ps5 has been in the making for a few years and is a good product. The game has been in the making for a few years too. Should the developers just shut up about it? This is something gamers are excited about. No one is forcing you to buy it.

I think you missed the part where it said "RIP humans". This is a post-apocalyptical premise- there are no humans left in the world. Just the AI and animals.
Load More Replies...I hope these are cat appropriate mysteries--like: where did the nice lady who puts out the fish scraps go ? or who has been drinking my milk? etc.
Hmmm... I would like to cover more interesting indie game topics. I love and support those creative developers who try to mix their interests with gaming. I know that Annapurrna is my favourite publisher why she doing great job when it comes with experimental games but some of them have high prices for the content. I can't wait to play this cute game
I played a demo of this game last Winter. Visually beautiful, but I couldn’t get my character to stop knocking everything from the desk.
I love it and I will buy it. I rescue cats and would love to experience a different world in a cat's perspective. A make believe world. The real world is too harsh and evil for strays.
I don't play video games, but several years ago I remember seeing an ad (Gofundme?) for a game in development. You play as a cat on a small island off the coast of Maine?, there was some sort of mystery for the cats of the island to solve. Someone had gone missing, all the people are missing, something like that. Don't know what happened with it, but it did sound like fun.
Missed an opportunity here to call it NekoMancer. As in William Gibson's Neuromancer and the fact you play as a "neko".
I have been hoping & waiting for this project to get picked up by a good gaming publisher for a few years! Annapurna published an amazing game "Outer Wilds" (not to be confused with "Outer Worlds"), so im happy to see their name on this! This is going to be amazing! 😻
Why are pc players such snobs? I'm genuinely wondering

Load More Replies...Why is that? I have seen stray cats being adopted and last up to about 20 years in total, with unexact knowledge of their age, living happy, lazy and spoiled as a cat should once they settled with the newly acquired humans. Playing them in a game at least sounds tempting to a nearly-non-gamer like I am ... because cats are cats and stuff...
