DoorDasher Fired For Cursing Out A Woman After She Gave Him A $5 Tip On A $20 Order
Lacey Purciful was happy. Her pizza had arrived and she couldn’t wait to dig in.
Even her dog Max was excited, and went into the yard to greet the DoorDash driver, Corey, after Lacey opened the front door of her Texas house.
But Corey himself was in a completely different mood. He was very disappointed that Lacey tipped him “just” $5 on her $20 order.
He felt like he deserved more and he wanted the woman to know that. What he didn’t know, however, was that Lacey had a security camera and a TikTok account (@ladybug3660) where she could post the footage if he went out of line. Which was exactly what happened.
Texas resident Lacey Purciful recently ordered a pizza delivered to her place
But the DoorDash driver who brought her food threw a complaint about the tip
Lacey tried to defuse the situation but the guy added a complaint

Lacey, a 38-year-old mom of two, told Daily Mail that she was in a head-on collision in March with an alleged drunk driver, and currently has serious injuries to her spinal cord. Because of this, she can’t cook and has been relying on DoorDash to feed her family since then.
“I worked in the restaurant industry for years before joining the military, I’m a very good tipper,” Lacey said.
“Earlier in the day I tipped an elderly DoorDash driver $5.50 for a $17 order of half a dozen donuts, and then I gave him an extra $5. I tipped him over 50%.”
Her delivery has already been viewed over 26 million times on TikTok. It included a $16 medium pizza and a portion of breadsticks, costing the woman $22 dollars.
The Pizza Hut which she ordered from was just a six-mile drive from her home.
Lacey said that the driver, who is described as being in his late twenties, started running off her lawn after he shouted the profanity on Friday night.
Lacey’s husband later contacted DoorDash and they gave him a $5 voucher, but after the family escalated the problem, the company launched an investigation.
Then they gifted Lacey $75 for her troubles, but she said that the ordeal has 100 percent still left a sour taste in her mouth.
“I’ve had problems with DoorDash before,” she said, adding that orders are often left on her doorstep without drivers informing her they’ve arrived, and drivers take so long that her food is no longer edible.
The Texan shared their interaction on her TikTok account
@ladybug3660 My lovely Dasher Corey believes I should be tipping 50% 🤔🤡🫣🍕#doordash #doordashdriver #doordasher #doordashers #pizza #pizzalover #pizzahut #fyp #momsoftiktok #momsover30 #bigmad #rude #vivint #vivintdoorbellcamera #smile @DoorDash @DoorDash ♬ original sound – Lacey Purciful
And after it went viral, the driver was fired
A DoorDash spokesperson told Newsweek: “Respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable, but abusing or harassing someone is never acceptable. We’ve removed this Dasher from our platform and reached out to the customer.”
The spokesperson added: “Our rules exist to help ensure everyone who uses our platform—Dashers, customers, merchants—have a safe and enjoyable experience. We expect everyone to treat others with respect, and we will enforce our rules fairly and consistently.”
The whole ordeal reignited the age-old debate on tipping culture in the US
I think I've seen enough posts about the tipping situation in the US. Customers are unsatisfied, employees are unsatisfied, the only ones rubbing their hands with content are the employers. Either change the situation or accept it and move on. 🤷♀️
this is the only answer. it is very, very unlikely to change. people are going to have to deal.
Load More Replies...What bothers me even more is when the service person does nothing other than ring up my purchase and the credit card display asks how much I want to tip. There is this pressure as they are standing right there in front of me and I don't want to look cheap - I hate it so much.
"It's a nice house for a $5 tip. It would be a shame if something happened to it". Edit: paraphrasing "The Godfather" or Monty Python. A joke.
Wouldn't be a shame if something happened to your house, it's a 25% tip, wth is wrong with u???????????

Had a shuttle driver from airport to hotel say he couldn't take me as I was in a wheelchair. The hotel was less than a mile away, so I told my group to go with the luggage and I would roll there. After almost 45 minutes, I discovered there was no way for me to get out. My wife came back on the shuttle, pushed me up the stairs, loaded my wheelchair (60 lbs) by herself. When we got to the hotel, she helped me down the stairs and the driver tried to get ANOTHER PASSENGER to help my wife take out the wheelchair. She said "I got it" and did it herself. They had already tipped him when they were dropped off. My wife decided to give him $2 more even though he was absolutely useless. He shoved it back at her complaining he deserved more for "all this!" Mind you, he drove his route he had to drive anyway and did f**k-all to help me or her. I wrote an email to the hotel and the shuttle company. I really do hope he got fired.
Goddamnit, I've had enough of these b******t tip stories, please stop it. Customers are not responsible for how well or bad an employee gets paid. Fix your f*****g minimum wage laws, US, and people should stop using and working for a system that's designed to exploit them while big companies behind it make record profits!
I've had problems with DD drivers. I won't go into details, but (in the USA, at least) I use GrubHub now and haven't had any issues with them.
Afaik tipping is supposed to help the restaurant owner to keep the prices for the dishes low. Goal with the tips plus service minimum wage is, to get at least enough, that it would meet the mark of the normal minimum wage. If that doesn't happen, the restaurant owner is supposed to make up for the difference, so even if it's not a high income, it's at least stable and a guaranteed number. So my question is, does that happen at all?
Anyone who works in a traditionally tipped position who is not earning *well* over the minimum wage is either working for the wrong employer or needs to explore other career paths.

Yeah. Rich people usually are the worst tippers. I would purposely leave their orders for the last ones because I was familiar with most of them (regulars) because I knew that the other orders where the people lived in apartments or bad areas were going to tip better & be more grateful for my sense of urgency & I was always right. Lol. I'd be so stoked to get $5 from a rich person. You kidding? I once delivered $400 worth of food to a huge Party in this super rich area. They made me set everything up & tried to make me serve people.. I had 3 other orders in my car & this was NOT part of my job description at all! I was super nice to them & they understood but they pre tipped $1.25.. I figured they were just rounding up & they'd tip me cash (most catering orders tipped cash) but nope. That was my tip. I also sat around waiting for them to tell me where to haul all of the food for 20 min. I was there for over 35 minutes. Rich ppl don't care dude. You're a peasant to them.
I'm a full-time DD driver and the problem is that you shouldn't be tipping based on how much you order, but by how far the distance is between your location and the restaurant you ordered from. Yeah, it's a 25% tip but if she lived 15 minutes away from the drivers delivery zone, that means he most likely made $7 or $8 to drive to the restaurant, wait, drive 15 minutes to her home, then 15 minutes back to his designated zone. Imagine making $7 for 35-45 minutes of your time. Even if that wasn't the case here, this happens quite often. I often decline orders because people don't tip at all but expect you to drive 20 minutes back and forth and I'd only make $3 from the base rate.
Depending where OP lives and the deals available, a pizza and a side could cost $20 delivered. That's not an unreasonably low price.
