With quarantine forcing people to remain home as much as possible, many turn to various hobbies to distract them from the horrible reality we’re all currently experiencing. Some try out sewing, others take up macro photography, while some curious green thumbs turn to their garden to see if they can find some solace there. And while the majority might think that attending to veggies and flowers is extremely boring, one Twitter story proved that it can be as exciting as a good detective mystery.

A writer from Los Angeles recently shared an exciting story about her garden mystery that had a hilarious twist. As the woman tried to get rid of a “massive infestation of pill bugs” that took to her zucchini, she found herself in quite a dramatic and mysterious situation. Apparently, as effective as the traps were, trapping a large number of pill bugs in them, in time, they started moving… Quite a mystery!

To her 41.9K followers, Ellis offered an exciting story involving beer, bugs, and lizards that garnered thousands of likes and retweets.

Pill bugs eat dead and decaying vegetation as well as "mulch." They are the garbage disposals of the insect world. Probably what is eating your zucchini is either cutworms, cucumber beetles, squash bugs or vine borers. If you see pill bugs they are eating what is "left over." It is probably squash bugs. I can't grow any melon or squash as the squash bugs wipe them out in no time. They also eat cactus.

That's what I was thinking. Pill bugs do sometimes eat young green leaves, but even a very large population wouldn't be eating a whole plant.

When I had a major slug infestation some years ago I tried the beer thing. It didn't work. They were so large and numerous that I figured I should just roll a keg out the back door at sundown and ask them to keep the noise down.
