30 Women Who Tried So Hard To Prove That They’re Unique That They Just Embarrassed Themselves (New Pics)
Girl power is amazing! There’s nothing that women can’t accomplish when they band together to build each other up, and the bond of sisterhood can be incredibly powerful. But unfortunately, thanks to pesky internalized misogyny, some women out there need a little reminder that we should all be on the same team.
Below, you’ll find some of the cringiest posts from the Not Like The Other Girls subreddit. This group calls out "pick me girls" who have decided to put other women down in an attempt to prove how unique and special they are. A Wild Reddit Notliketheotherparents
“She’s not like other girls!” We’re all familiar with this phrase that became an internet phenomenon in the early 2010s. Girls who love eating pizza, who drink beer but never gain weight, girls who look like models without wearing makeup and girls who are just “one of the boys” because women never want to be friends with them.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with being unique, and we all have special quirks that will make us stand out. But the idea of claiming that you’re “not like other girls” doesn’t just celebrate one person’s uniqueness, it also implies that all other women are a monolith. And it perpetuates the idea that interesting women who may not like stereotypically feminine things are rare.
Why Is It Always Sourdough And Dresses?
Worst I Have Ever Seen
She preaches shes better than women getting degrees and not having children because by being a stay at home mom on her farm with her 4 kids and pregnant at 23 years old is "going against the grain" as if thats not what women were forced into for thousands of years because of the patriarchy and societal expectations of women .. they're not vaccinated and "unschooled" (?) and now shes into "free birthing" which is an extremely dangerous way to give birth (no check ups, no prenatal care, no birthing guide, no meds, no nothing..) she is seriously psychologically f*cked up for thinking this is the best way to care for your family. And as a woman who's getting her masters and doesn't want kids, f*ck you I am better than you. Read a f*cking book.
Obviously, women didn't like being slaves trapped in the house. If you want to play frontier-mom, go for it. But women are just like men, we all have different talents and skills. I can rebuild an engine and code. I prefer to be a member of the 21st century not the 6th.
Surprised How Many Women Replied To This
My issue isn’t with women who want to stay home, it’s the way he speaks to his partner and all these women are acting like they would be fine being spoke to like that
The Not Like The Other Girls subreddit has been around for years now, and it has never had a shortage of content. The community has 944k members, and it’s one of the largest subreddits on the platform. But just like everything else, it has changed a bit over time. A few years ago, the posts may have been more focused on girls who want everyone to know that they don’t wear makeup, don’t like “girly” things and don’t ever plan on getting married.
Today, however, there seems to be an influx of women posting online about how they’re not like other girls because they’re not feminists. Trad wives are becoming increasingly popular online, and today, lots of “pick me” girls seem to be conservative, anti-abortion and really into drinking raw milk for some reason.

Regardless of what makes a woman believe that she’s not like the rest of us, it’s sad to see girls who want to separate themselves from other women. The women that I know are strong, brilliant, brave, creative, intelligent, hilarious and fascinating. I would love to be like them! But sadly, many of us have been taught from a young age that we should be in competition with other women and should compare ourselves to other girls, so unless we unlearn that toxic idea, it can be easy to fall into a pattern of trying to prove that we’re better than other women.

Most women, and some married women like myself, (32 years) still dress up. We dress for ourselves and our men. Grow up! Hoe!
Recently, the “not like other girls” women have also been labeled “pick me girls.” But they’re essentially the same archetype, women who go out of their way to separate themselves from other girls and gain male approval. But according to life coach Bayu Prihandito, we should approach this topic with empathy.
“People, especially young women as they continue to grow up, have to navigate a society filled with mixed messages about their worth, identity, and the roles they are expected to play,” Prihandito told CNN. “And you have social media, the usual suspect, amplifying these messages and creating an environment where external validation is not just sought after but often seems necessary.”

Dude, even I don’t wear dresses & skirts but that’s not my entire personality trait and I don’t feel like I’m not a girl because of that. You’re not special for doing something that is not even uncommon

Internalized misogyny is a powerful and insidious thing that women need to be aware of to be able to break. Society tells us that women are one-dimensional beings who should love the color pink, taking care of the home, raising children and being submissive. And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with any of those things if you genuinely want and enjoy them, the problem arises when girls are told that if they’re not like that, they must be super special and unique and quirky.

Be careful what you wish for. "Remember that nut-and-a-half I used to date 10 years ago? Wonder if some unfortunate soul ended up being stuck with her..." is hardly something to boast about.

It’s not these women’s fault that they’ve been sold the idea that most girls fit into a cookie-cutter mold. They did not come up with this idea themselves. However, in this day and age, we should not be perpetuating the belief that some women are better than others or that being “unique” makes you more valuable or attractive. Sadly, the media has done a great job at convincing men and women that girls who eat pizza or drink beer or actually like to spend all day in the kitchen are incredibly rare.
I’m Not A Regular Mom, I Just Enable My Husband
There is literally nothing that makes me hotter than women who endorse allowing your partner/spouse to get a total free pass from parenting, helping around the house, or having to do anything but relax because they bring home a paycheck.
Especially because so many women get stuck in sh*tty abusive relationships (physically, emotionally, financially, etc) and are made to think it’s the “norm” or “natural order.”

No, It's Embarrassing To Put Down Other Women At A Party
Ri-iiight... That's why you are standing alone by the door without a single person in sight. Whatever makes you feel better I suppose.
The manic pixie dream girl is a prime example of a “not like the other girls” woman that often appears in TV shows and films. This could be Alaska in Looking for Alaska, Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim v. The World, Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Summer in 500 Days of Summer and countless other female characters. This archetype is often portrayed through the male gaze and only there to enhance the male protagonist’s life or story. They usually don’t have much of a plot or development of their own and often leave him once they’ve served their purpose.

If you can overhear people talk about The Bachelor while listening to a book about physics, you are not listening to a book about physics really well. Invest in a better pair of headphones.
Overall, the world should be much kinder to women. It seems like we can never win, whether we love Taylor Swift and Stanley cups or sports and metal music. Someone will always be judging us for our choices, so the least we can do is not judge each other and instead lift one another up. Women are awesome, regardless of what career path they choose and what they order at a restaurant! And we’re even more powerful when we work together.

She is drop dead gorgeous and I agree that there are some awful wedding dresses out there but she should have stopped after the 4th screenshot. It's not her place to attack others choices, just to lift up her own choice.

We hope these photos aren’t making you too uncomfortable, pandas. We know how cringey they can be, and we can only hope that some of them are satire. But if they’re sincere, we hope that these women will realize how much better life can be when they stop comparing themselves to other women. Internalized Misogyny Is Truly A Trip
This person is really missing out on some beautiful female friendships. I absolutely adore women & my girlfriends. I see all women as potential friends, comrades, sisters.
I Can’t Even Think Of A Clever Caption For This
Did you know that you can bake sourdough bread (and all kinds of other delicious baked goods) while also not being weird about it? You can even be a feminist with a job. #LifeProTips
You can even be a feminist without a job, or without being female. That said, even feminism has its cliques and some of these would qualify as the school of French feminism that celebrates femininity and difference between the genders. I think it was the French feminist Luce Irigaray who famously arrived at events in a fur coat, lipstick and not much else (but it's a long time ago so apols if wrong person).

"I eat uncivilized, amount as well as choice, waste a lot of time pampering a dangerous delusion about the most abusive father figure of all fiction, which I take for real, and should not vote because I have a hole in my crotch!". Well, the last sentence I agree to, just the reasoning is a bit further before.
Adding - I only made it halfway through before I had to go upchuck instead.

Some of them will be, but I reckon some are just trying to look different but if something happened that they really didn't like, they'd be running back to the 21st century to join the rest of us.

No no, you totally have a point, and it's something to think about. Usually the line I have where I jump into mockery is when they start with the anti-vax stuffs and how women shouldn't vote. A lot of this is just women dealing with their own insecurities in a relatively harmless way. Then you get the quiverful weirdos, who ARE actively harmful by being Typhoid Mary and trying to push regressive views. The first grow out of it usually. The second makes another generation to ostensibly fill the world with more sourdough and Jesus and backwards thinking.

Not sure why BP is more disappointing than people doing a humble brag but you do you. Do have be that person and point out that it's "traitor", not "trader". The second involves exchange (like these women have exchanged their dignity for likes).
