The coloring of the mushrooms match the coloring of the dog.

Aren't dog owners worried that the dogs might lick their feet and get sick or die?

These are almost as big as the ones in my backyard! We just happen to live in a forest.

When Twitter user @lofidrew shared images of little dogs on mushrooms (literally) with the caption: "i present to you, dogs on mushrooms" on November 14, the adorable thread went viral with 328.6k likes, 55.6k retweets, and a thousand comments starting a craze about pictures of dogs standing on mushrooms and all the funny content that comes with it.

People on Twitter didn't miss the opportunity to share their hilarious snaps of their dogs on mushrooms, while others really took advantage of ambiguous phrasing with funny jokes and memes. One user wrote: "what i expected and what i got were two very different things," another pointed out: "Those are some strong mushrooms." User @opportunist1982 had an idea for the next edition of this photo challenge: "The next edition will be cats on crack? Like the cracks of sidewalks and such?"

After the tweet, some people were inspired to go mushroom hunting and arrange a similar photoshoot with their dogs, but were worried they wouldn't find mushrooms big enough to support their dogs. Staying true to the traditions of the internet, most people were simply in love with the cute result, as some even said that these dogs are having their magical moment that resembles a Disney movie.

So next time you go on a walk with your dog in the forest and spot a giant mushroom shelf on a tree—don't forget to snap a photo of your dogs having their best time on top of mushrooms, because this viral trend is guaranteed to brighten everyone's day.

Bored Panda has contacted one of the Twitter users, Suzanna Crampton from Ireland with the username @ZwartblesIE, who has shared pictures of her tiny dog Inca on mushrooms and received over ten thousand likes. In the photo, a small dog which is a Jack Russell, beagle, King Charles spaniel, and Lab mixture is standing on a tree mushroom that resembles a climbing wall. We asked Crampton how she captured the shot:

"I saw Inca jump up the mushrooms like steps so she could look over the wall that was to the right of the tree. I just got my phone out and took photos. She loved being able to look over the wall," said the owner.

We asked Crampton how she feels about dogs on mushrooms taking over the internet.

"I think it’s great, though a warning should accompany it as some mushrooms are poisonous to dogs. Inca has loads of photos of her with all kinds of mushrooms from our farm fields and woodland, on her Twitter account."

Crampton calls Inca the World's Smallest Sheepdog because she takes her responsibilities of herding Zwartbles sheep seriously, and there is video proof of that on YouTube.

"She is a very determined character who hasn’t a clue how small she is. She takes her job as a sheepdog very seriously and will face off sheep that are 10 times bigger than herself. She has the most amazing relationship with her best friend Ovenmitt the cat, who often gives her a bath. If you search on Twitter for 'trials and tribulations of Ovenmitt,' you can see what I mean."

As funny and heartwarming as these pictures of dogs on mushrooms are, this phenomenon is not good news for the trees at all. If you find a mushroom growing on a living tree like it's a shelf, it's most probably, though not always, a sign that the fungus has attacked it and is consuming the tree from within. An infected tree becomes weakened and might even cause danger for anything in its path.

When you are done scrolling through this list and still feel like you need some animal therapy to get you through the day, these hilarious dog posts will definitely put a smile on your face. We also love it when dog owners treat their four-legged friends with something they truly deserve for making our lives better. Following the Facebook challenge "I did it for my dog," people shared the nicest things they've done for their dogs—from special rooms to playgrounds to fancy dinners. You can check out the best of them compiled in a list here.

And until dogs on mushrooms start taking over the internet as funny memes, check out some of your own favorite dog memes here, submitted as a part of a challenge submitted by a fellow panda under the username Lydibug.

GORGEOUS BEAST! I may be a bit biased, he's the absolute image of my wonderful Mastiff. Same dark brindle, same big velvet head full of love & joy (& occasional dopey confusion). My boy's got a fair bit of white sprinkling his lovely face now, looks very distinguished ❤
