My name is Natacha and I am an 18 years old amateur photographer living on a farm in Southern France. I love to combine my two main passions - animals and photography - in one.
My newest photography series is about the friendship between my dog and my duck. Vendetta, the dog, is an old German Shepherd female. And Lemony is an Indian Runner Duck.
Vendetta is such a sweet and friendly dog with everyone and every animal that when Lemony arrived in our home as a duckling in June 2018, I hadn't any apprehension of putting them together. To my surprise, Lemony was absolutely not afraid and started to follow Vendetta everywhere.
Vendetta is completely in love with water so naturally, I began to take Lemony together with us to the lake, and then even to the woods and the city.
It's really important for me to show this special bond because I truly hope that this will help people to see ducks in a different way - not only as "foie gras" or something but as the sensitive animals they are.
Still, I've got a lot of projects and shooting ideas with them but here are some shots that I wish you to show. I hope you will enjoy them!
Update: I have to say that the reactions on my first post really touched my heart. As I didn’t know that it could make people happier this way (guess I was expecting more reactions like: “Ok, cool. A duck and a dog. Now let us fight about politics”). So, thank you so much from the heart!

Cuddling time in the bed
Sure, not a good photo, but still the first I took of these two cuties
It is a beautiful photo, you captured the very essence of their relationship
I am in love with these pictures! Sooooo beautiful and cute. You are very skilled. Keep on going and make the world a happy place. THANK YOU!
So beautiful, thank you for sharing your photos. They made me smile in my heart.
My god that pup has got such a soft, gentle face......such a lovely story....
So the whiteish pidgeon from that other photo is actually part of the gang. It makes it even more obvious that the duck and the dog match each other perfectly, well, apart from a few anatomical differences ...
Shooting photo with my little sister
Wonderful photo! Your animals are beautiful and you are quite talented. Keep shooting - you could become a pro. ❤️
During a trip in Netherlands.
I can fly, too, if I want to! At the very least the distance between bench and ground.
such gentle companionship...more than that, you said it at the beginning soulmates
At the medieval castle.
After their daily walk to the river, always tired.
Pilgrim and Grisella, few days after their arrival.
Thank you so much Natacha. Human beings have a lot to learn from animals. "All beings seek for happiness; so let your compassion extend itself to all." - Mahavamsa
It's awesome that these two animals can ignore their differences and be friends... it's very sad that there's a lot of people who can't
What a gorgeous Old GSD! Also I just now learned there are black ducks and I'm in love.
This is such a sweet series, and a welcome break from politics. I'd love to see an update on these two!
That’s a classic example of a duck doing what ducks (and any other waterfowl) do. He imprinted on the dog when he was tiny and as far as the duck is concerned, the dog is Mom. It’s hilarious to watch. A bunch of geese once imprinted on my father. He had to walk them to the beaver dam (we had one on the farm) in the morning for their swim and then back to the yard for the day. It was hilarious watching this 6 foot + man with a dozen tiny goslings struggling through the grass to follow him.
It's reassuring to see how much love is out there. All we have to do is look up. Thank you for looking up for us. Lovely and sweet images.
Love the tender moments that were captured, their love is real...awww...
Fantastic pictures of adorable friends. They made me smile. Thanks a lot for sharing
Young lady you are on the road to fame. My Saint Bernards loved our chickens and ducks and the Canadian Geese, and no not eating them. I had several giant parrots (red macaws, blue and gold mccawds, hyacinth, conures, and they would call to the Saint Bernards who would come and they would hop on their heads and walk to the dogs back and the dog would take them daily on tours from the basement to the 2nd floor and then back to their bird room (yes a 150 sq ft bedroom just for the birds....
Perfect relationship. The dogs must have such a great disposition! And the duck knows it and is completely happy and confident!
Am I the only one envious of the life these 2 animals have? They are both beautiful!
Ducks will imprint on just about any other living creature - if they're exposed to them within 24 hours of hatching.
Natacha, your pics and your family are truly wonderful, they have made me smile a lot.
Best post I've seen on here in so long! I love this! You have a wonderful family ^ ^
How do you get your runner duck to do this mine literally quacks at my dogs and chase them
