My Photo Project “What Is Beyond The Next Door?”

The series Beyond the Next Door is a series revolving around my intimate relationships while also reflecting on the female perspective. I’m exploring ideas of vulnerability and discovering oneself while being in a consuming relationship. Through the use of lighting and objects, I distort my subject’s likeness including my own to exemplify the dominating and suffocating nature relationships possess. By having her subjects look into the camera she invites views to see the power in being in a vulnerable state.

Ideas that an impuissant woman can also be strong in a consuming relationship is a power dynamic that I’m continuously exploring.

Zoe Antona is a multi-disciplinary artist and photographer, whose work addresses the power dynamics and complexities of relationships. She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia in the US, relocated to Cincinnati, OH, and is now based in the greater NYC area. She is currently earning her Bachelors of Fine Art in at Rutgers University. Her work explores the reconciling of oneself in the midst of a relationship and the intimate experiences between that of only two people. Zoe’s work is meant to be representational of the weight and the power dynamics all relationships posses. As well as depicting how intimacy impacts not only the emotional state but also the physical state.Her work aims to evoke a visual and emotional reaction through the aesthetics and installation of her work. The concepts for her work repeatedly revolve around the ideals of torn relationships and are representative of the power dynamics within them. Zoe has exhibited her artwork in Roswell, GA as well as in Cincinnati, OH. Recent exhibitions include Sonnet: Research Studio exhibition exhibited in the Waiting Room Gallery at UC. Zoe's work is still currently in process and she wishes to exhibit her work more in the coming months as well as expanding her outreach.

Mediocre photography served on a plate of pompous rhetoric which expresses your disappointment in your "dominating and suffocating nature relationships " isn't art.

Sad that this panda has such 'distinguished taste' in art in their yet can't even show their face or include a bio. Computer troll with no critical feedback that adds to the artists experience or conversation.
