Photographer Shows How Misleading Perspective Can Be By Creating These Interior Sets
New York based artist Justin Bettman creates photo sets in the streets consisting of second-hand furniture. After making a photograph of the set with actors in it, Bettman leaves the set built on the street for strangers to take their own pictures with using the hashtag #SetintheStreet. Sets have been created in NYC, London, Prague, Berlin, and Moscow.
He created this art project in order to get people to question the perspective. When people look at these cropped in images that are shot on the street, they almost always think they are actually interiors. This idea gets people to recognize that when you’re looking at a smaller piece of a larger picture, you can often be misleading.

I don’t get it. These interiors could all have been created inside a warehouse for example. Why put them in different cities if you don’t even see those backgrounds in them?
I mean, it’s a really nice concept, but personally, it got a little boring after the first few pictures. Just my opinion, I mean no hate to anyone :)
I agree, it's a great concept but you've seen one, you've seen them all :/
I do set construction for a local community theatre. I look at this and I think "So what?" We do this many times a year.
