My Grandma (99!) Met Her Favorite Actor [Denzel Washington] Today!
"So story time; my grandma was a librarian in Mt. Vernon, NY Public Library for 50 years. Denzel grew up there. If you've ever met her, she will tell you the story of how she gave Denzel Washington his first library card. And that he was the cutest thing and how wonderful he was. I have heard this story easily 300+ times in my life. :)"
"Fast forward to a month ago and it was her 99th Birthday. The women at her nursing home wanted to do something special so they tried to contact Denzel and get him to come or call, and he ended up calling and talking to her on her birthday. On the call, he said he would be in our city in December and would stop by and voila here he is!"
"He was so nice and caring. Laughing with her and holding her hand like he was old friends with her. He teared up a few times seeing the love and respect she showed for him. She knits a scarf a day and gave him three for him, his wife, and his mother. My mom and I were there with him and my grandma and it was such a cool experience. He kept saying with his publicist 'this is what it's all about.'"

"I was playing a game of soccer and Dinklage and Adam Sandler were walking by with some kids. Sandler was heckling and making funny comments about the game. In response to those who think it's silly to get pictures taken with celebrities, I think to each his own. I admire Mr. Dinklage and I personally think he is a superb actor and I love his character on Game of Thrones. I had a chance to express my appreciation for his work which I think he appreciated in return. I didn't ask for a picture with Adam Sandler because it's Mr. Dinklage that I was so excited to meet. I'm a girl btw... Soccer attire and excited face...guess I need more makeup when I play!"
I Met Forest Whittaker In Uganda
"He walked by me and my friends and we were like wait a second that's Forest Whittaker but when we were walking over to ask him for a photo one of the staff where we were said not to bother him. I used to work at a theatre, so I have a huge list of celebs I met on the fly while working there. Joey Lawrence, Jack Palance, Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea) Colin Mochrie, Ed Robertson (Barenaked Ladies) Drew Carey, Joely Ficher, Tom Smothers, just to name a few. Outside of that, I had a lovely run in with Colm Feore while seeing The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Stratford. But my favorite run in was Mr. Stephen Fry. Went to go see him in Mythos, and hoped to encounter him at stage door. No such luck. Dejected went to go eat at a restaurant..and he walked by the window where we were seated. My dinning partner described my exit as one like the witch in Looney Tunes...just a puff of dust and some hair pins as I darted to catch up with him. I tapped him on the shoulder and he pardoned himself, he thought I was running by. I told him I enjoyed the show, and asked if I could have a picture. He obliged. 36889862_1...da9350.jpg
Wow great! I love him, especially in his silly silly things like Alfresco. He's a great actor and looks so fun.
Load More Replies...This must be exhausting for celebrities. When they are at charity events and such it's expected that there would be requests for pictures. When they're out having dinner or running errands, etc I would never be so rude as to interrupt them for a photo. You can tell by the looks on some of their faces. They're not all so happy to oblige.
in this case, he was on his way back to the theatre for a second performance. And I asked, and he was fine as long as it was a quick go. I agree totally though...there are many that aren't so excited about it, as well as, ones that are looking for it. It really depends on the actor and how the fan is acting. Usually, if you are calm and polite about it, and not dripping off them like a crazed maniac, they are ok for a minute or two of their time.
Load More Replies...Went to a restaurant in Nashville and Nicole Kidman was there eating lunch across the room. Still, though, I tell people I had lunch with her, haha. Nobody in the restaurant bothered her for pictures or talked to her, because people in Nashville are cool like that.
I was in the same plane as Maroon 5, apparently, but I haven't actually seen them. Also, I exchanged a few words with the frontman of Conflict, when they played at Monte Paradiso back in 2006 or 2007, not sure now. Made their guitarist laugh during the performance too, because I made the Vulcan sign and shouted "Live long and prospeeeeeer!!!" ♡
Load More Replies...some years ago, I was seated next to the actress Isabelle Huppert in a theatre and I only noticed it when we left :-)
I was once on a London Bus with Ben Whishaw (Q from Bond, Paddington) and told him to get off at the wrong stop.
I was at a comedy club open mike night, watching, and a rude, loud woman behind kept heckling the (amateur) comics. Her heckles were keeping me from hearing the jokes, so, being Canadian, I occasionally turned around to give her the annoyed face. After a few comics had done their show, the mc introduced a special guest to the stage, rude, loud Rosanne Barr.
I met Paul Stanley in Ralph's once. I was 7 and had no clue who he was. My dad was super psyched though. My dad is also a friend of Glen Hetrick, so I've met him a few times. Super cool guy, very nice, likes D&D and has cool tattoos. My favorite celeb story though is that time circa age 2.5 when I was at a synagouge potluck barbeque thing and there was this Jewish musician who's name I don't know and I stole his watch. Just walked off with it. Gave it back after my mother realized I took it, I don't know how I felt about it although I think i discovered a freckle that night (could have been one of the other shul bbq potlucks tho)
I was working Box Office for Phantom of the Opera in TO when Paul Stanley was on as the Phantom. Didn't get to meet him myself, but the ushers said he would play little mini concerts before the show for them. Stand up guy!
Load More Replies...My uncle was a big disk jockey in Hawaii in the '60s, and he met ALL the acts coming through the islands. I saw picture after picture of him with one act after another. It was pretty awesome.
I was on a plane with Hooverphonic once, even borrowed a pen from them and didn't realise who I was dealing with until after we uad landed and I got home. Aarghh!!!
A member of my crew told me a story about delivering pizza to an amusement park. It was to Michel Jackson. They kept in touch for almost 30 years after that.
I was in a bookstore in Santa Monica one evening, and Michael Jackson came in with a little boy of about 8 to buy the kid books. Michael was wearing his usual mask when he was out in public, and he looked around SO suspiciously, I felt bad for him. He clearly didn't want anyone to speak to him, and his eyes were just telegraphing, "Stay away! Stay away!" Nobody did. When he and the boy left, it was like something you see in the movies: A whole trail of bookstore employees carrying boxes of books out to his car (a great big Mercedes limo, dark maroon). It was just....weird. Everyone who was in the store when he was there agreed with that. After he died and I learned about what all he did with the kids, I didn't feel quite so charitable about him getting the boy all those books, either.
Load More Replies...GOOD Heavens, So many celebrities I've never heard of. I wouldn't have minded meeting Obama, but he rest mostly look like Yobbos
What's the big deal? honestly don't get it. They are just normal looking human beings. I have had s many celebrities on the same flight, once the AH came around asking if any one wanted a selfie with Shahrukh khan ( famous INDIAN star), I asked 'does he want a selfish with me coz I certainly don't care about him, just like I don't care about the end number of people cohabitating this planet'.
I would not have minded meeting SRK. I could have gotten an autograph for my niece. Sie is a huge fan!
