Guys, it has begun. Those of us who were born in the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s are officially old now. At least that's what teenagers on the internet are trying to make us believe. The belief that you were somehow born into the wrong generation is probably older than the world itself, nevertheless, it still feels quite strange whenever you hear someone say that they wish they were born in the 1990s. That wasn't that long time ago, guys! My folks and I still have a dial-up phone lying around somewhere and a full box of cassettes, too.
Scroll down below to see the full list of youngsters pleading their love for the 1990s. And remember - we were all teenagers once and were probably also dreaming of the good old 'simpler' times when going through our parents' old photos.

Well that is when the over sensitive culture started which is why South Park and other shows came out to counter that. And how sweet you think we all got along, I mean the race riots in New York, Chicago, LA. I former head of the KKK almost getting elected governor of a state, homosexuality was a criminal offense in a number of states. Yup we all got along just fine
The only difference is that you believed everything your friends told you instead of the internet. Same thing.
People have said the same thing in every generation. It was no better in times past.
Not really. It was apathetic. Everything was wrong but people felt helpless to change it, sooo apathy.
Eh, I mean, this generation has done some pretty erratic and stupid stuff, but you shouldn't hate it.
Wouldn't y'all want to be a teenager in the '90's? Not born in '90's. I was in high school '93-'97. I enjoyed the music of nirvana and pearl jam AS IT WAS HAPPENING. I remember where I was when it was announced cobain died.
...wouldn't they need to be born in the 80s? (I was, lol) so that they could actually "grow up" in the 90s and enjoy it? (I did, lol)
The best thing about growing up in de 90's is that there is no proof of the sh.. we did on the internet.
I wish I was born in 1910 so when I grew up I could use those cool-looking telephones and shatter phonograph records when I got mad. Wait . . . I would have been broke and unemployed when the Depression hit. Never mind.
I am so glad I was born in the 80's. I really feel like I got to experience the last bit of the good old "decent" days before all hell broke loose.
Well the 90's WERE alot of fun (as a non-adult at the time). Technically Gen X and very happy they were born the actual year they were born in.
If they were born in the 90s, they wouldn't have had the time to appreciate them because of all the growing up they needed to get to. They'd still be 2000s kids. I actually do remember the 90s and those times weren't that different for kids, I'd say. Sure, we didn't have all the new technology kids have today. But in the end children of all generations worry about and wish for the same things: making friends, falling in love for the first time, experiencing new things, learning and growing. We felt peer pressure as well. It wasn't all the romantic, wild pre-smartphone world it's made out to be.
Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes, even if it was for just one day? wouldn't it be good if we could wish our lives away......
Itnwould be born in the late 70's or early 80's to truly enjoy the 90's. We hit the 90s all the way through and it was the best decade of my life.
Personally, as a huge classic rock/pop music fan, I'd've rather been born ~ 1954. Yes, I would be ~65 now, but. I'd've been 10 for The Beatles and Motown. 18 for the rise of David Bowie and P-Funk. 23 for the heyday of The Sex Pistols and The Ramones. And then only in my 30s during the 80s into the 90s, and still young enough to enjoy those decades with New Order, Kraftwerk, R.E.M, Radiohead, Soul Coughing and Beck. The only thing I would've missed is Woodstock, because I doubt anyone who was old enough in my family to raise me in 1969 would allow a 15-year-old me to go.
I was born in 1980...my life has been f#$kin awesome! I have loved every minute of it!
So just a long list of different people saying they wish they were born in the 90s. Not much about the why... Also. People born in the 90s are also still alive be and enjoying today's world. Just like people born in the 80s and further... And we all helpt build this atrocity.
its funny because i grew up in the 90s and agree is was a much better time but like, it still would've brought us to this generation obsessed with their phones. the people who grew up then are obsessed with the internet too. im just glad it wasn't my childhood
I, in my opinion, wish I was born in the 90s so I could actually go out and do things, you know, with having to worry about getting kidnapped or trafficked. I hear many stories about parents child hood and they went and play outside and went to stores by themselves and all that, I can't. I may just be because I love in a city, but my mom did to, and she did all that stuff..
What was so great about the '90s, now the '60s, that was another matter, great music, great groups, No Cellphones!
I was born in 64 in Stockholm. I remember growing up in the seventies, now we call that "the DDR-era". Only two tv-channels (state controlled), no food culture or good restaurants, not very good at entertainment, everything was grey, dull and closed. I wish sometimes I was born in the eighties. But when I look at old photographs, everyone seems so damn happy, smiling and waving. Colourful.

I grew up as a teenager in the 90's and yeah it was fun but not that great. I am sometime nostalgic for the 90's such as the music, no cell phones, and less tense more of a chill vibe. There were still a lot of weird people but I did grow up in Portland so....
I feel like there's always a sort of nostalgia towards the previous era even if you didn't get to experience it. During the 90s a lot of kids wanted the 80s, now everyone misses the 90s and already kids my age are saying they're going to miss the 10s. My dad talks about growing up in the 60s-70s and there being a lot of 50s nostalgia in music and movies.
i would'nt like to be born on the 80's-90's. in estonia there was hell.
I loved growing up in the 90's. But you will meet people like the ones above in every generation that wishes they were born another time. For years I used to say that I wanted to be born in the 60's so I could experience the 70's.
90's were a little more unhealthy version of the 2000s. As the 80's were to the 90s.
