first time I ever heard about a gender reveal party I thought it was some sort of coming out party for trans people

We paid less than 200$ including rings. We had McDonald's that day, we spent our money on a home and new vehicle. I ended up getting the ring I loved 2 years later from a pawnshop for a fraction of the price. Weddings are so expensive and pointless.

The ugly aspect of those donations made in stores etc. is that those stores get to claim the deductions for YOUR donations made there. Absolutely despicable.

I'm with George Carlin on the opposite. I'm tired of people who voted for what they wanted, got what they wanted and whine when they see they were duped. Those who didn't vote are not to blame. It's just a scapegoating projection tactic.

I tried going vegan for a couple months. I found it to be SO expensive to try to keep up with the demands for extra supplements and finding foods filling enough to feel full and satisfied. I got tired of beans and nuts real quick.

Agree, does not make you a hero. There are plenty of military personnel that are terrible people. Disagree that it's entirely a choice. I'd be interested to learn what percentage of US military were from low socio-economic status and/or extremely dysfunctional homes and felt enlisting was their only hope for stability, safety, healthcare, community, education - a future.

For me it's folks who post happy birthday wishes to a celebrity who is never, ever going to see it. Especially if the celebrity is dead. I just don't see the point.

I'd much prefer this option than corporations seeking donations. Not only do you NOT get the benefit of the tax deduction but the multimillion corporation does. They dont set up charity schemes out of the goodness of their hearts - they are just minimizing their tax obligations. DONT donate to corporate charity schemes! Donate directly to the charity.

I'm not British, so maybe that's why I can't fully understand the hype behind the family. Especially Diana. She's been gone since 1997 and people are still writing books and making films about her. I have nothing against her at all, but why?

I guess it depends on which royal family OP is referring to. The royal family in the UK makes the country considerably more money than it costs. It's hard to quantify a lot of the factors (such as the affect on tourism, unofficial souvenirs, private businesses making income from royal activities, etc), but as a business alone they bring in nearly £2 billion a year.

American here, I always wondered that since the Royal Family represents hundreds of years of history and tradition, PERHAPS, that's the interest? Fascination? I respectfully am only guessing here.

What I can´t stand is when people act like royals from one country (usually the UK ones) are important to the world. Whenever there is a marriage, or someone popped a new child out, you see almost nothing else on TV or in newspapers for at least a week or two.

And don't forget tax money. A HUGE waste of tax money. I don't have anything against them as persons (I don't know anything about them) but ALL remaining monarchies should be eliminated as soon as possible.

The Royals are an unending source of silly drama, but here in America, so many people just elected a convicted felon to run the country. And he has the button for the nukes. I am left wondering which is worse.

I just want them to stick around long enough for William to be king and give his uncle and brother their dues.

I'm from a country that rebelled (US) so British royalty (presumably the royal family being referred to here) are not my thing. I look at BBC news online and with that I often see news articles about the royals I just don't care about. It's hard to say from afar but my casual observation is the royal family has less impact now than they did decades ago when I was a boy.

I think it brings in a lot of outside money in the form of tourist dollars. I actually just feel bad for the poor sots born into that ridiculous life.

I really don't think Brits have any idea how extraordinarily corrupt our royal family are, or how heavily they interfere in both British and international politics. (Taking bribes, engagement with Chinese spies, carrier bags full of cash from dictators, directly ordering government to pass or deny laws in their favour, having clauses added to laws exempting themselves - for example the Queen personally interceded with the government to add an exemption to racial discrimination laws (fun fact! The BRF are legally allowed to engage in racial discrimination in hiring!), and to add an exemption from COVID laws stating that landlords can't evict tenants during lockdown. The BRF are also slum landlords.

What one does to themselves, is probably for themselves, and not you. Some people get procedures because of a disfigurement, disorder, to fix another procedure. Like, imagine getting a masectomy because of breast cancer, and feeling so self-conscious it's all you can think about. So you go to the plastic surgeon to get breast enhancements. Then after people ripping you apart because they don't like seeing how unnatural your new figure looks.

My family first generation American grandparents engrained in my parents and us that work ethic and craftsmanship define you and make you a respectable contributor to society. Now it feels like most people are working for billionaires that are doing their best to bleed us all dry.

I agree. They are not talking about dogs - they are talking about irresponsible dog owners who leave dog poo all over the street, on the sidewalk and in the parks. I love dogs and I was a dog owner until she passed away. I also have children who play and wrestle and fall over and pick things up and put them in their pockets. Public spaces are exactly that - for the enjoyment of the public and I can't let my kids play in the local park because there is dog shite everywhere. Our neighbors let their dog s**t on the sidewalk every day and we have to smell it and dodge it on the walk to school. You wouldn't appreciate me letting my kid p**s in park or poo on the grass and then just leaving it there. Your dog = your s**t. Clean it up.

Ah, my pet peeve! "That's just who she/he/it is" is often claimed to justify s****y behaviour. Maybe it is who you are, but not everything that goes on in your head should come out through your mouth.
