Misinformation has always been so rife that probably about 90% of what you think you know about the middle ages is entirely backwards, for instance. (People lived way longer in 1300 than in 1920, for instance; and women ruled empires under their own authority.)

Beyond the health and environmental concerns, it just tastes bad. Really. Where I live it is not commonly used, and today I threw out 2/3 of a drink that contained HFCS because it was undrinkably sweet (it was an import I didn't realise contained it until I tasted). You don't realise how bad it is until you have a chance to taste how good sweet things are without it.

If you look at pictures of her pre-plastic surgery, she was really pretty, and looked like she would’ve aged pretty well, if she just took care of herself (eat right, get enough sleep, drink water, avoid dark tanning, etc). Now she’s so deluded she thinks looking the way she does, with all that lumpy scar tissue from too many surgeries, makes her pretty.

While primarily known for plastic surgery-like use (reducing the appearance of wrinkles), there are significant other health-related applications.

Botox is hugely useful for some medical conditions, and done carefully with consent also appropriate cosmetically. Nothing in that photo is Botox related- that's dysmorphia and moral-free plastic surgeons

Botox is a lifesaver for those with chronic migraine. I went from six to seven disabling migraines a week to none after receiving Botox for migraine. I'm sure it can be abused cosmetically, but it does have very good clinical uses.

Botulinum toxin is derived from clostridium botulinum. It is used to prevent muscle spasms, reduce hyper-hydrosis, and to reduce and slow the appearance of wrinkles in the face. Though only technically approved for Glabellar lines (11s) it will help with crows feet. What happens when using Botox or other injectables of the same type (Dysport), is that the muscles become trained to stop constantly flexing. This reduces the creation of new wrinkles and the appearance of old ones. Over time, less Botox is needed for the same results. When used appropriately, you can not tell that someone has received a Botox treatment. If you can tell that it was done, it was done wrong. Customers will hop from injector to injector to hide the amount of injections that they are getting. When one injector refuses to use any more, they go to the next one. Injectables can become an addiction for some people. They get so used to the bee sting look that they think they are supposed to look like that.

I love my Botox and my face is not frozen. I go to a board certified dermatologist with special training in it. Tons of friends get it done too. Stop shaming women for doing whatever they want to do with themselves to feel pretty. Although this picture is more like body dysmorphia and not even remotely related to traditional Botox.

I'd argue that it should stay for medical purposes as botox has been effective in helping people with bladder problems and helping people with cerebral palsy reducing drooling and also helping reducing migraines for people who medication hasn't worked.

Get rid of wrinkles? Ok. No problem I’m happy to have a dangerous biological injected into my face. If I were to get the full dose of poison the way you would usually get exposed to it, it will kill me. But just a little, and voila! No wrinkles! . Note as stated in commercials: get medical help immediately if you suffer severe muscle weakness. 🤪 Why? You’ve got botulism and you’re about to stop breathing you idiot. But at least you don’t have wrinkles.

People Are Sharing "Modern-Day Poisons" That Are Normalized Now But Will Probably Be Seen As Dangerous In The Future (30 Answers) I’m gonna say Vaping. I knocked it on the head as my New Year’s resolution. First time I’ve been completely nicotine free, and still going strong, but I genuinely felt like I was about to cough my lungs up about 90% of the time vaping. If I have to be honest, I don’t miss either, but I started vaping to stop smoking. I hate seeing young kids and teens do it- ones who wouldn’t have even considered smoking.

EDIT: I’m talking disposable vapes, should’ve clarified that beforehand.

It’s straight up poison to your mental health, but we thrive on it, yearn for it. Places like Tik-tok, twitter, and r/PublicFreakout pass it out like dealers for little more than some attention—poisoning people to feel popular. Worse, it’s useful to those in control, so there’s no escaping it. Political parties and activists need you outraged, one-tracked, immune to real empathy, and motivated to solidify their power, so here we are.

People Are Sharing "Modern-Day Poisons" That Are Normalized Now But Will Probably Be Seen As Dangerous In The Future (30 Answers) An excess of almost anything (overly) processed. Most people consume too much meat, too much sugar, too much salt, too much saturated fat, too much caffeine, too many nitrates/nitrites, etc etc. I try to eat relatively healthy but even I definitely consume too much sugar and too much caffeine. It's so hard to stop once you're used to it, modern processed foods are pretty addictive and it's scary.

Edit: I'm aware that not all types of processing are inherently bad. This is not a scientific forum, it's an AskReddit thread and I'm sure most people know exactly which kind of processing I mean by that.

Not sure why people commenting CNN, MSNBC, ect are getting down voted. ALL mainstream news media are paid off by corporations to help or hide different stories, all push an agenda based on their political leanings, and care more about money than news. At this point it isn't conspiracy because it's completely out in the open. Down vote me too if you want, but I think it's worth examining all news outlets to better understand the ways they work to control and manipulate us.

People Are Sharing "Modern-Day Poisons" That Are Normalized Now But Will Probably Be Seen As Dangerous In The Future (30 Answers) Soda. I used to drink it a lot. I had terrible health issues and sleep issues. I cut it all out. Been maybe 2 years without it. I feel better, I'm sick less, I sleep better, and I function better overall. Just replace it with water. If you live in the western world you most likely have clean drinking water being pumped to your house.

I don't believe on banning something because I don't like it, but I do think that s**t is poison. It's also super addictive. The first couple weeks I cut soda out was rough. Then we give this to kids and it screws up their systems.

Edit: I've never had a comment get this kind of attention. Quickly going through the replies I want to say congratulations to everyone who kicked the habit or other ones like smoking. Second there are absolutely people not affected by it. If you drink it in moderation it's not too bad. I admit I was really bad with it.

My main concern with it is that there's nothing good about coke or Pepsi. It's just sugar, caffeine, and addictive ingredients. That's why I use the term poison. It only has negative effects with it. Now that being said if you enjoy soda than go for it. It's your life. If you can do it in moderation even better. The thing is we market it so hard to kids and many parents just let them overindulge. Again not all but a good chunk. My parents let me have way too much.

Also all my stuff is anecdotal. I'm not a doctor but every doctor I had when I was younger would tell me I need to stop drinking it. I would tell them I would and then not because I was young. It caught up to me though. If you're young now and pounding back several cans a day then it's probably going to hurt you too. I'm not a spring chicken anymore and every one of my friends who was like me was in the same boat with the health issues. If you can keep it in moderation then great, but watch how much you drink.

I recently introduced my daughter(5) to “YouTube Kids”. There are some really good aspects to this, she has learned so much already. BUT I have noticed a real decrease in her attention span when watching any other format. The ability to just skip/scan for other content the moment there is a lull in a video is a small but significant side effect. Films have become really difficult to watch all of a sudden… I can’t imagine what short format would do to her! 😬 (I am aware I sound like an old bastard saying “back in my day!” But honestly it’s a real problem)

It has been linked to aggression and mental disorders like attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) in children. A review of 34 studies estimated that 8% of children with ADHD living in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada may have behavioral symptoms related to synthetic food colors. Studies in children with ADHD have demonstrated that restricting synthetic food dyes from the diet led to significant improvements in symptoms.

Nah, they're useful. The problems with them relate to the social media apps on them, which others on this channel have commented on. I suggest you just uninstall the social media apps. The smartphone itself is useful. For example, I really appreciate the GPS apps because I can avoid traffic and reduce my carbon footprint by not unnecessarily sitting in stationary traffic.
