40 Embarrassing Moments People Didn’t Know Who They Were Talking To And Made A Fool Of Themselves
When you think about it, the internet is a democracy. Whether you're the President, an award-winning scientist, or just a spiteful troll, you can create a Twitter account and go from one thread to another, explaining to other users why they're stupid. However, if you're actually doing it, that's precisely what you need to keep in mind. It's just a matter of time before you run into someone who can call out your BS. And when that happens, you're going to end up on the subreddit r/DontYouKnowWhoIam. Like the name suggests, this online community is dedicated to those spicy moments when people were oblivious to who they were talking to, and has collected quite a lot of them since its inception in 2015. Here are some of the best ones.

Underestimating A Multi Talented Model!
Even though there's a line between self- and over-confidence, trusting in your judgment can help you become successful in life.
Both verbal and nonverbal communication can be extremely effective at garnering positive attention and influence in groups. According to one hypothesis (the presumption of calibration hypothesis), people generally assume others have the self-knowledge to know how confident they should be, and we also assume they will truthfully communicate this confidence to us (the so-called truth bias), unless extenuating circumstances suggest otherwise.
So whenever we see confidence, we tend to find it compelling, and we expect it to be justified.

The Guy Then Came At Him Saying He Violated The Hippocratic Oath
Anyone else so sick of the vaccine argument? Should mention I'm not anti-vax. Have had covid twice myself. Edit: Was asked how I had it twice. First time I likely caught it in a post office. Only place I'd been for weeks as most of the country was shut. Second time my partner tested positive and then I did.
Red Faces All Round
Interestingly, some research has reported that being overconfident while participating in a group activity did not damage the person’s reputation — individuals who trusted their task performance (but were later revealed to be worse at the task than they had claimed) did not suffer a severe drop in their social status in the group relative to someone who had been well-calibrated.
The researchers concluded that "the status benefits of overconfidence outweighed any possible status costs."
So extreme cases aside, being featured on r/DontYouKnowWhoIam might not be the worst thing that can happen to you.

Exactly! A sauna doesn't have to be uncomfortable to be 'good for you' at all! It should be something relaxing, that's all. It might be good for your hearth health, but there's not that much evidence that saunas have health benefits. Still, getting uncomfortably hot is not good.

Twitter Telling The Autor To Read His Own Article
"What do you know about Covid?".... *I produce my medical degree*.... "Oh, well, what do doctors know about Covid?".... More than Google, Facebook, Twitter, Insta, and TikTok, thanks. Especially if we're, y'know, updated regularly by CDC/Johns Hopkins/Oxford Centre UK, etc. .... Then I hear, "Well, those are biased!".... Sure, and your grandma's third cousin's second wife's neighbor is totally an epidemiologist?
My mother in law's doctors, dentist etc know everything, as soon as I tell her anything my health visitor or midwife has said on their visits "What do they know", "we never did that, they're wrong" ..."babies don't change so caring for them doesn't" etc etc ..we've actually come to blows over this when she said I should be giving my son a bottle when he's exclusively breast fed..I couldn't breast feed my Daughter so I'm thrilled my Son takes to it but she was constantly battling to get him on the bottle for no reason other than to have her own way -.-
Load More Replies...SMH. I mean it really doesn't matter how you feed as long as your feeding your baby. You do you and fk that lady. Congrats on the baby boy.
Thanks summer :) can't believe he's already 5 months .. time goes way too fast :(
My youngest was breast fed and when he was close to 9 months old Christmas eve at Church, he started fussing and up to that point, he was 100% breast fed... Rather than have my wife have to leave the service, pretty much disrobe to feed him, I took him outside with a bottle to feed him... no such luck.. then I remembered that as soon as my wife exposed her breast to him, her milk would actually squirt him in the face or she did it, don't rightly know... but standing outside under the stars with my fussing baby I squirted milk on his face and VOILA... I was actually having fun with him while he nursed the bottle and finally people came looking for us to see what had delayed my return... and there we were... happily nursing.. :D

while I don't doubt that doctors know more about COVID, being consistently updated and all, they are not gods and don't know everything. I have an immune system disorder that is more common than doctors are willing to recognize. Through my research I've found that doctors get exactly an hour and a half training in my disorder somewhere in, I think, year two. My illness is incurable but manageable but my first doctor told me I was cured when my blood tests showed my levels had normalized. Because they do normalize as long as you are being treated. She actually suggested I stop treatment, despite the fact that my condition is eventually fatal if not treated. I was also severely anemic but she just shrugged it off. When I finally switched to a new doctor, she was appalled at how doctor number 1 treated me. I had to be put on two emergency IVs of iron because my iron was so low it was almost non-existent. Further tests showed I had severe deficiencies in other nutrients. She admitted she k
knew almost nothing about my condition and was happy to read the studies I provided her. We worked together to find a suitable treatment strategy. Doctors tend to dismiss a patient when we know better than anyone how we are feeling and what is off in our bodies. I've had doctors give me the eyeroll because I dared to know more about my condition than they do.
I don't object to that. Sometimes, we do come up with something as a patient ---- but you did the smart thing by switching docs. Even a specialist isn't necessarily that specialized in a certain disease. My hubby's cancer is so rare that we're fortunate to have found anyone who can pronounce it!
Was in a FB friends post regarding COVID giving him some giggles when one of his friends challenged my, I may die from complications due to COVID but 99% not COVID, lifestyle. He stated his sister researches immune systems and I HAVE to stop telling people I have a magical immune system. Otherwise he will have his sister lecture me. I giggled and told him to let his sister know she can have 1 day to chat with someone with PI:IgG whose T and B cells are both affected and my highest levels are far below low normal. Plus I am over 45 and don't really sel-quarantine nor have I ever liked using my N95s and N99s. Or gloves. Or disinfecting at the door. Some epic hygiene, carrying my own soap and microfiber towels smashed into zippies and I am generally fine. Course I also have an ear for the sound of sick people and the eye for sick people now and bail as soon as I can after slapping a mask on myself. She is excited to chat with a rare unicorn as myself. :)
To be fair, all those who are qualified virologists are in favour. Unless they are weirdoes with an agenda. You do know they exist, right? I've read the rubbish they spout. I've also read the published research findings for all the vaccines and not relied on someone I'm related to who works in a hospital in an unrelated field. No ER nurse will be an expert in epidemiology unless they have studied and qualified in the subject. So not someone who's opinion is likely to be relevant. With billions vaccinated and still mostly unvaccinated doing the dying or ending up in hospital it is shocking that people still hold these views.
-Hello, little girl! Can I speak to the Captain? -Good afternoon, it's me. How can I help? [Starts walking away while laughing, then walks up to the biggest, burliest guy around.] - 'Day, mate. It was a very fine day.
Person I know: Requiring masks is communism! Me: No it isn't. Person: Yes it is! Do some research on Communism! Me: I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Economics with a dual specialization. Person: *silence*
Hilariously, the reason communists like myself comply with COVID restrictions is not because we worship the government, it's because Marxist theory dictates that protecting and caring for the other members in your society benefits us all! Do the right thing, it'll come back around.
I was talking to a friend, and they mentioned that their niece was just diagnosed with diabetes. I said "Oh no! Tell her that it's okay, she can do it." Some random lady just walks up behind us and says, "that's really insensitive. My cousin's girlfriend has diabetes, so I know what will offend a diabetic." I have type 1 diabetes.
This has happened many times for me. Especially with my aunt's boyfriends. She tells them I know a lot about history, so they quiz me to see if that is true. Not only do I know a lot about his, I have a bachelor's degree in history. So, yeah, I know what I am talking about.
Why does your aunt always say that? Kind of a weird thing to always tell her boyfriends. Wait, how many boyfriends has your aunt had?
Load More Replies...Their aunt could be younger than them you know? Doesn't have to be a middle aged woman lol
Right...wow...if jumping to conclusions were an Olympic sport Glirpy would be getting a medal.
Granted, most of the people who argue against the experts probably get their research via Google. But not every person with a qualification is always right.
But the 'do your research' argument is invalid cause they obviously did
Load More Replies...Ah people judging someone before getting all the facts. I've lived with this all my life. Despite having 20 years under my belt doing what I do, often people that don't know me can get pretty snarky. Not shaving for a week helped as I pass the 40 mark. Prior to that, it was pretty frustrating.
Not sure if this belongs here. I was live streaming on FB once playing the piano and accidentally made a mistake on "Fur Elise" by accidentally missing a part and FB stopped my stream on the basis that I was streaming someone's work without giving it credit. No sources given.

I once did wrote an article on alternative (fun) ways to teach math to small children. That was not the official name ofcourse i wrote the article in dutch. I found it a year later on someones desk on a different job. That person was alway mocking me for being 'just' an intern and treated like i was dumb. Started telling me about the article but that i wouldnt understand cause the sources used we too 'deep and scientific for me to understand'. Told her i wrote it. She called me a liar and said a university published it. I was a student there and yes i did write it.

My favorite story about Queen Elizabeth - Once, when walking the grounds of Balmoral with her protection officer, Queen Elizabeth ran into some American tourists. It became clear they didn’t recognize her: “Have you ever met the queen?” they asked. “No,” she responded, and then pointed at her protection officer. “But he has.”
#40 happens to me a lot on Facebook when I share one of my articles.
My sweet mom was having her roof replaced on a brutally hot day. She had cold drinks in her frig for when the workers were on break. One was sitting in her kitchen and told her that he was working "off the books", and nothing was being reported for tax purposes. She put her Internal Revenue Service ID on the table in front of him, smiled, and asked, "Do you realize who you're talking to?" The guy left and never returned.
Most covid posts and comments have aged TERRIBLY bad, my gosh! XDDD
My literature teacher for 4th grade never called on me to answer questions. I was confused because I was the most advanced reader in that class. I talked to her after class one day, asking why she never called on me. She said “Sorry kiddo, but I think you would just confuse the other kids with how you pronounce words.” This was because I had a lisp back then and pronounced every word that had double o’s or just one o with an r.
I used to work at an airport, manager for the company that handled the restaurants. One Saturday my assistant manager and myself were inventory counting a Caribou Coffee and this sill looking skinny white guy walks up. Plaid short only the top button fastened, wife beater, baggy jeans, the ball cap with the razor straight bill and a lot of bling. I looked at said in a low voice ‘Look at this Vanilla Ice wanna be MFer’. Then a guy comes RUNNING across the terminal and is shaking homeboy’s hand and gushing over him. It WAS Vanilla Ice, who had played a show the night before. He was actually really cool too.
Unpopular opinion I'm sure, but my goodness I am so sick of hearing about covid arguments. We get it. People will never agree on something that shouldnt have anyone arguing in the first place and everyone wants to be the big dog on top and show somebody else up. Great. Cool. People suck, pets are life. Can we move on now?
My friend had a good one like this. They (my friend's pronoun) was arbitrarily labelled as a 'white male' at birth, and they was trying to go to an event once, and the organizer said at the entrance: 'Sorry, this is only for black women.' So they replies: 'I IDENTIFY as a black woman!' You should have seen how surprised the organizer looked!
Because while you can be assigned male at birth and actually be a woman. You cannot be assigned white at birth and identify as black. Trans racism is not a thing. It was an insulting story about how dumb the woke people are.
Quick question, why are you doing that? I don’t think any of these posts are cut off, are missing information or need verification.
